I hate to see another business fail in my town, but the key to success is flavor and as many times as I talked with the owner about the taste, I never saw a change. I went back once a week until they closed just to support them. I wish them better luck in the future. I am a small business owner and support low taxes. Don’t give up because people like you keeps our economy going. Thanks !

Pretty pathetic is what this place is, if it wasn’t for a groupon I would have never came here. The ingredients were not fresh, the person behind the counter kept touting how their burrito bowls were much better then chipotles. Never again, and guess what! I heard they are closing down.

Closed for good! Looks like slow service times, tainted food and poor customer service finally caught up with them. Lights are out, no answer on the phone, facebook page has been cleared and exits are coned off and taped up.

I hate to give a bad review but it’s unavoidable due to no response back from management. On Monday I stopped by to grab a steak bowl. I used their drive thru and received my food and ice cream cone. Side note: I do recommend their Dulce de Leche anything. It’s heaven in a cup!(star #1) Anyways, guy at the window was friendly but I’ve had nicer people greet me. Not too long after someone else handed me my food. I drove off and continued towards my final destination. I decided to open up my food to eat in the car. I took a couple bites before I found one gross extra item that wasn’t mentioned in the menu. Now, I normally don’t have an issue with this place because their food is usually great(star#2) and I love the reusable containers they use(I love Eco friendly places) but I found a guys hair in my food. I, unfortunately, couldn’t turn back at the moment so I called within 10 minutes(from leaving the drive thru) to no answer. It rang and rang and rang. A recording came on and I hung up. I decided to call back to leave a message, as annoyed as I was that I was left starving. I wanted answers. Mind you it was also around 3pm and not busy at all. I was hoping to hear back by the end of the night. Nothing. Tuesday waited all day for a call. Today tried calling back(I gave enough curtesy time) and nothing. So I’m resorting to a review. I really wanted to give them the benefit of the doubt to calling back, to apologize and to make it right, but they didn’t. I honestly don’t know if ill go back. Yes, I could’ve gone back to complain in person but as a business establishment, they should check their voicemails and follow up with customers.

Drove up to their drive thru and the menu was so big! I was wondering how am I going to order something quickly since drive thrus are meant for speedy transactions. I asked about guacamole and the cashier was extremely rude and didn’t want to explain some of the items so I drove off without placing an order.

Hello Chipotle copy cat! I really like the concept of this place, the freshness of the ingredients, buttttt the flavors and quality just isn’t up to par for me. + Sooo many options — Cilantro rice doesn’t have enough flavor. — Some of my rice was uncooked! Still hard in the middle. — Carne asada didn’t really taste or look like beef. + Carnitas is legit Mexican! + Unlike Chipotle, you also have the options of quesadillas, tacos(hard or soft!), and nachos. + Horchata + Happy hour + Drive thru(although I don’t think I’ll be using it because you can’t see all the topping options) + Freddy’s hot sauce!!! Totally compliments the flavors + Soft serve and smoothies + Churros are delicious, but very sugary. I can’t imagine getting the two dipping sauces they have as options. — Corn. It’s just canned corn. No additives, nothing special. + Free scoop of avocado! I advise you not to get tomatoes, unless you loooooooove them, because there are tons of tomatoes in their salsa. Get the avocado one! I truly feel that Avocado Freddy’s deserves a 3.5 rating, but I don’t want to round it up to 4 because they need to fix a few things. I will be returning soon and I hope to love it then.

Man, I wish Avocado Freddy’s was here back when I went to Bret Harte and Hayward High! I would’ve taken them over KFC any day, even though that was the spot to go after school. I’ve been stopping by Avocado Freddy’s occasionally when they first opened and was bummed when they had to close for a few months due to the nearby construction. I really like the«Create your own» concept, meaning I can add fruit to my burrito and yes, it’s GOOD! Since they reopened, I won one of the«free meals, once a week, for a year» cards and I can say I’m now a «Freddy Fanatic» stopping by every week for my Freddy’s fix. P. S. Don’t forget to add the Freddy Sauce and a cup of the best Horchata around!

Freddy was really nice. We got there before it got super busy. I ordered the spicy tacos with beef instead of pork. So delicious. The sauce was amazing. Bf got the steet burrito. He was jealous of mine. :-) Before we left Freddy said«you’ll be addicted!» Haha that we are man, that we are. Get the groupon! Worth it!

Happy to see them reopen! I’ve been going since they first opened… they continue to improve. My son loves their steak bowl and I love their Monster taco value meal… at $ 5…it’s such a good deal.

I am so glad to say Avocado Freddy’s has reopened!!! I went to their grand opening pre-view yesterday for some tasty free food. I get to enjoy my fav burritos and fresh mex again. I am a very happy camper. They have some great deals till the end of July for 1st in line customers who are in line when they open at 11am to get a free entrée for a year. Yeah u know I was first in line today at a very early 6am to get mine on a Sat. morning. Now that should tell you how good the food is. Like them on FB for the details and rules and take yourself over there for a treat. Be sure to get the Freddy sauce it’s bomb!!! Update I heard from his wife that they do catering now as well. Awesome idea.

Seriously this updated review is long over due. After trying this place when it first opened I was disappointed. The owner reached out to me and invited me to try again. Unfortunately I myself still have not taken him up on the offer. However, my husband stopped in for a few meals and was surprisingly impressed by the changes. Local business is important to me and the fact that they have worked to improve on things guest did not like says a lot about them. Furthermore, the fact the owner took my feedback and actually took the time to acknowledge my dissatisfaction says tons about him as a business man. My husband said the upside down nachos bowl was Delicious his only feedback is add more chips or there is nothing to eat it with. I see deals for this place all the time and if I was not a women on a figure maintenance plan I would stop in here more to give it a try myself. Keep up the good work Acocado Freddys. One tip for the company would be to stay open late. There is not many choices for a late night bite to eat, especially not good Mexican.

To tell you the truth, I’ve tried Freddy’s several times since my first experience. I’ve dined in, used their web ordering, pulled up to the order window. I have to say — I’m done. The service isn’t the problem. The people who work there look exhausted and exasperated. The items ordered aren’t in stock, the weird rules about what you can order and what you can’t. It’s just not worth the trouble. I’ll swing by El Taquito on Winton or head over to Chipotle in Castro Valley. Sorry Freddy.

PLEASECONTACTMEFREDDYFOLKS. Because this REALLYREALLYSUCKS. I’m sure you can fix it! I wanted to order online… because AF does not accept phone orders(whoa) and spent 14 minutes arguing with that $*(%*&*($)&*(&%* site. * If you want more than 2 toppings, you’re out of luck. * If you want to substitute something, you’re out of luck. * If you click something they don’t happen to have today, you’re out of luck ANDITKICKSYOUOUTANDEMPTIESYOURCARTOFTHEEVERYSINGLETHINGINIT. Seriously, this sucks sooo bad. I am so angry. Why is this software — the ONLY way to pre-order, by the way! — so unlike the great service I usually get from AF? I want to say a lot more, but I’ll simply leave it at «Dude. Fix this horrendous mess. Please.»

I really like the place. The other reviews must be trippin! The place was clean and the service was awesome. It is like a fast food chipotle joint. There are differences, and avocado Freddy’s is just as good in it’s own way. And…the best part is that it is family and locally owned!!!

If you want a boring-ass burrito, just go to one of the many fine«authentic» Mexican places. If you are adventurous and want to get, for example, a carne asada burrito with black beans, bananas, and strawberries(my recently discovered new-favorite-thing), I don’t know where you could go besides Avocado Freddy’s. The menu is a 6-step choose-your-own-adventure style, and they don’t limit you on creating crazy combinations. Try something goofy, you might love it. Don’t think«what goes in a burrito?», instead go for«what tastes awesome and fits inside a tortilla?» Also, these complaints about price — I don’t get it. It’s not Taco Bell, but for under $ 10, you get a combo meal with very fresh ingredients. That’s cheaper than Chavez or El Grullense…

Passable. The good: –the concept of build your own burrito(Chipotle does this) –more options then chipotle –owner was nice The bad: –food was just okay and there are what 12+ Mexican food places in Hayward? –skimpy portion sizes –for the quality and portions, prices are not very good We tried 2 build your own burritos — they were not that great, Chipotle blows them out of the water.

In short, this is the only place around to get fast, fresh food. That is the concept, and if you understand it you’ll recognize that’s what they live up to. No mystery meat, just real ingredients. And where else do you have options like adding watermelon to your Burrito Bowl?(Yes, it’s amazing, you must try it, see my Combo’s below). I’ve eaten here several times and experienced great customer service, fresh food, and got an overall bargain for a nutritious meal. If you walk in with a smile I guarantee you they’ll serve you well. I’ve found that one key to enjoying the food most is making use of their fresh housemade sauces: Freddy’s sauce, Cilantro Lime Vinaigrette, Mint Vinaigrette, Pico De Gallo, and Avocado Pico are the ones I use. If you’re adventurous try these custom Combo’s(I’m strictly dairy-free, and can’t have most of the standard combinations(no cheese or sour cream for me), so I’ve experimented making combos with the help of the staff): Cable’s Burrito Bowl #1: Chicken, black beans, cilantro, lettuce, avocado pico de gallo, cucumber, watermelon, cilantro-lime vinaigrette.(Yes, the watermelon is an amazing complement to the other flavors! Try getting that at Chipotle!) Cable’s Burrito Bowl #2: Carne asada, pinto beans, cilantro, apple, celery, blueberry, avocado pico, cilantro lime vinagrette. If you don’t like these combos, I apologize in advance. But I hope you don’t regret that you at least tried watermelon in your Burrito Bowl!

Avocado Freddy’s offers bowls, tacos, burritos with a choice of beans, rice, and filings. all for 6.99. didn’t look like a bargain, freddy’s didn’t have any mexican patrons. only patrons were elderly senior citizens. so i went to the dessert section. eats: caramel yogurt(small bowl, 1.99) –came out of a foster freeze type machine –little caramel flavoring. texture smooth. –2 stars frijoles refritos: –very cheerful service –lots of construction near this site. –wouldn’t order the usual stuff. not much to try…

Whew! This place… don’t bother. We bought lunch– two burrito bowls– from them, for a change of pace one day. Woah, what a mistake! The food was cold, the chicken tasted off(cinnamon, maybe? I read that description in another review). I took one tiny bite of the burrito bowl and was very disappointed… it tasted cheap. My significant other politely tried to take my bowl back because it was pretty much inedible… they refused to return the money or make it right, stating that it appeared that I didn’t even try it. The man behind the counter was very rude to him. Stick to Chipotle’s. DON’T PATRONIZETHISESTABLISHMENT.
