Zippy Shell of San Francisco & Silicon Valley

We used Zippy Shell for a DC to CA move and these folks were great. We’d heard so many horror stories about different moving companies, especially when it comes to long distance moves, but all our stuff arrived just as we left it, and the service and help they provided to us was very personal and all in all great.
On the DC end, while the shell (e.g. pull-​behind trailer with a packing unit «cage» inside) is a nifty idea, it was a little bit of a challenge to get it parked at our row house. (My recommendation for Zippy Shell would be to utilize a shorter pickup truck — not a full bed 4 door hemi — to deliver the shell, as that’d make parking it tight spots much easier). Nonetheless, the driver spent lots of time working with me to get it where it needed to go and in the end all was well. He was communicative via phone and arrived on time.
Due to moving circumstances, we opted for 1+ month shell storage, at a minimal extra cost. When the shell was delivered to us in CA it was done so without hassle. We opened it up and found everything in one piece, and relatively clean too (the packing cage had been «shrink-​wrapped» to keep small things from escaping and to keep it clean I presume).
Our coordinator with Zippy Shell, Kellye, was really helpful, responsive via phone and text — even on weekends — and did everything she could to make our scheduling and move go smoothly.
While not cheap by any means, Zippy Shell is still less expensive than most of its competitors. I’d use them again.
