I’ve been here several times before, but have never bought any of their wines. Same goes for this visit. We came here for the«Wine & Food Affair» event last weekend. I love their vineyards — it’s really beautiful, and the staff is always welcoming and friendly. They have a nice, walk-through lay-out for these events, and plenty of wines to taste! For this particular event, they were pouring at least 4 – 5 wines and they also had a nice little appetizer to try. I’m giving this 3 stars because the wines are just okay. I’ve never bought any wines here, but for some reason, I always end up here due to the great Unilocal reviews. I wouldn’t say that their wines are terrible by any means, but nothing really stands out for me. Everyone has their own tastes and palates though, so you should definitely stop by and try them out.

Drove all the way out here because it said they were open and as we drive to the back it says appointments only. Called and they dont have an opening for 2⁄3 hours. Would have been nice to know ahead of time.

Here we are sitting in San Diego enjoying a glass of Bill and Betsy’s wonderful Sangiovese. We love this winery and go there every chance we get and load up the car for the trip South. This is a can’t miss stop in the wine country, I’m sure you will agree. Don’t forget to make your appointment, it’s well worth it.

We were introduced to this winery on our honeymoon and have loved it ever since! Bill & Betsy have a wonderful way of creating the most incredible blends from their grapes. While we prefer all of the reds that Acorn offers, the Rosato is a lighter Rose that is perfect for warm summer nights in MO without being too sweet like so many others. We love treating friends to Acorn wines at home and reliving the visits around the vineyard with the Nachbauers. Setting up an appointment is the best choice you could make for your visit to Sonoma!

We spent a few hours with Betsy. She was excaptional. Started with the vines and on to the wines. Loved every one we tried. They do field blended wines. Much more difficult process but well worth the results. Sipping a bottle of their Rosato amongst the redwoods as I write this. Small production, high quality. Recommended as best tasting in the valley. Thank you Ryan from Jewel Wine Drivers for taking us to Acorn.

Phenomenal wines and one of the most informative tastings you’ll do in the area, esp. if you get to taste with Betsy or Bill Nachbauer(wine makers & owners). Family owned and run, Acorn grows ALL the grapes they use in their wines right there & all their wines are field blends; if you’re lucky, you might get to do a walk in the fields with Bill, who knows every grape on the place(including some really unusual varietals from way back). They do really interesting things with some of the varietals and blends – these are sophisticated wines but not pretentious. They concentrate on reds, which suits us, though their Rosato(rosé style) is like a baby red. While I particularly love their Cabernet Franc, Axiom(Syrah), and Zinfandel(unlike any other Zin in the area – and that’s saying something), they make a fabulous Dolcetto(Betsy advised that it works well with cream rather than meat, and she was quite right), and a really lovely Sangiovese. We serve these wines to friends who appreciate particularly good wines back home and they are always a hit. It’s a small winery and they do sell out some years – but on the other hand, everything is good.

This place was really a pleasure. The wines were really great! small batches of really great wines. Not for the faint of heart wines. These are big dry red tannin wines that we love. If you are looking for a buttery chardonnay, not the place for you. if you are looking for some great wines with people who love what they are doing, who enjoy discussing relative dryness or how long to decant your wines this place is for you. if you want to discuss which red would be the best with your beef, lamb or burgers, this is the place. the wines were reasonably prices, as was their wine club. learned a lot, bought some wine and will be back.

Wow! What a treat to sit at Acorn and talk with Betsy as she walked us through the vines and then poured wine after wonderful wine. This was the only place we walked away with a case. There were so many wonderful choices and, as Betsy suggested, we are taking them home, re-tasting and will order more later. A beautiful property, they definitely put their money into the wines and not the tasting room but that adds to the charm and authenticity of the experience.

Had a tasting here for Valentine’s Day, it was very small and intimate, and Betsy knew a ton about all of the wines, I think she is one of the owners. We loved the wines and took home several bottles to revisit. Do make sure to call ahead for an appointment.

Gorgeous location, and excellent wines! It’s amazing to see the variety of grapes that the owner grows in the acreage he has. We went during Winter Wineland and enjoyed a delicious polenta with mushrooms and blue cheese along with our wines. We weren’t too fond of the Medley but really loved everything else we tasted! We’ll be back for sure!

A hidden gem located near Healdsburg that makes a wide variety of tasty wines. We last visited in 2010 and were happy to reconnect and taste the latest releases during our latest trip to Sonoma. We were happy to see they have continued to produce high quality varietals and they remain a humble, unassuming spot for people who are more interested in wine than the carnival of the bigger wineries. Remember, you need to make a reservation to visit and taste and you will want to allow around an hour. You will be glad you did.

This was our second visit here in a year. You come by appointment only. It is well worth the time. Betsy and Bill are wonderful people. They are warm and love to talk about wine and their operation. We got to taste 8 to 10 wines. There was enough in the glass to get a good taste. We liked them all. Their wines are good for drinking or for pairing with food. They are not big and jammy. They are more subtle. They are complex. I am glad we drove down with the car. We made a big purchase and are looking forward to toasting Betsy and Bill whenever we open one of their bottles. This place reflects everything we like about Sonoma wines.

Can’t believe I didn’t write a review after my first time at Acorn. Shame on me! I recently went back to Healdsburg and made a point to visit Acorn again. This time I brought friends with me because I enjoyed my first experience so much. They loved it as much as I did. Bill and Betsey are awesome! Betsey does such a great job explaining the wines and their process. It’s not an elegant setting, but that doesn’t matter. You get a straight forward, pure wine discussion accompanied by some unique, great-tasting wines. We’ll more than likely be back a third time the next time we’re in Healdsburg. Thanks to Bill and Betsey for such a personal, thoughtful experience!

Great wines, great prices. You have to go looking for the place, it is definitely«off the beaten path», but it is well worth it. My wife and I have been customers for over a decade and love the wines. It is our go-to wine when we want to bring a bottle to a dinner party — everyone loves it.

You have to set up an appointment, but Bill and Betsy will take great care of you if you do! It’s not the sexiest wine tasting experience, but you will learn all about the wines, and the love that Bill and Betsy put into their wine making. All of the wines are so reasonably priced and they really let you decide what you taste in each wine. We’re members now and can’t wait to go back again! We left with 2 of every wine they make. Check it out!

Awesome hospitality and great wines at a family friendly and intimate winery. Betsy made us feel welcome, even though we weren’t able to score an appointment for a wine tasting. It was a wine passport weekend, but she encouraged us to drop by towards the end of the event anyway, which we did. My toddler even got to do some tasting — of some awesome apple juice, poured by Betsy herself. Acorn Winery is still a sentimental favorite for us. A bottle of their Rosato for another great memory. ..

Whether you are an expert or a beginner, Bill and Betsy will make you feel like family. I have taken family and friends to Acorn and never, ever regret it. What winery owner do you know will take your neices to the vineyard and walk with them to teach them about grapes?(we talking 5 and 7 year olds) How many wineries have you been to and have the owners recognize you on your second trip there? I love this place. I love their wine. I love my visits. I loved being treated like a friend/valued customer from the gecko. You will remember the time you spend here!

We made a 10AM appointment at Acorn solely because of Unilocal reviews. I’m glad we did. While we came to Sonoma County to get our fill of Pinot, one of my favorite parts of touring wine areas is meeting the people. Tasting experiences can be amazing and getting to know the folks who bring beautiful wine to our tables makes me a happy camper. Enter Betsy & Bill. Betsy already had our table set up, and Bill had his book out within a few minutes of our visit to look up the history of a grape from PA(Chambourcin). It was great to hear about the history of their vineyard & have the time to try their wine(no rushing… she had an 11AM that showed up early, but Bill kept them busy in the vineyard). Since they had a full schedule of tastings, we even got the opportunity to try bottles from yesterday with freshly opened bottles. I loved their Sangiovese… loved it even more drinking the bottle that had been open for a day. Hated to sip & pour out, but we had a full day of tasting ahead of us. We bought a bottle of the Rosato & the Sangiovese, and Betsy was kind enough to give us a frozen bottle of water to help keep our box cool in the car for the day. She also went through our tasting list for the next day or two, and added some suggestions for tastings & for lunch(one of which, Big John’s, we tried and loved!). Make an appointment to stop and see Acorn. It’s one of those places that makes Wine Country special :)

We had planned a last minute trip to the Healdsburg area and were less than a mile away when I decided to give this winery a call to see if they had availability. Not sure where I had heard about them, but turns out several of my friends and coworkers have visited them and have had a great time. Betsy was great, she had back to back parties coming in but since we could only make the 12PM slot before heading out to lunch, she was more than happy to accommodate us. We realized how wonderful and small a winery this was when we were driving through the winding dirt path through the grapevines to the tasting room. Pulling up, Betsy came to greet us and we all sat down in the tasting room, which was a large barn shed leading to a house in the back. Great tasting, Betsy was very warm, down to earth, and spoke to just the two of us for about an hour. No charge on the tasting either. Bill, her husband, came in and out — really sweet couple. Great wines as well, we bought a bottle of the Medley and Syrah and signed up for their waiting list. This was probably our favorite tasting experience in that area. Highly recommend!
