This was our first stop on our wine weekend, Dana could not have been more informative or lovely. We tried everything from bubbles to reds-great experience.

I wish I could give them more stars! What an amazing experience! Outstanding service from Liz, who is a wealth of knowledge and an incredibly friendly and fun person. The wine speaks for itself. It doesn’t matter what type of wine you prefer. Everything they offer, they do exceptionally well. I will definitely be back on my next visit!

Perfect place for a large group(we had 14) to start the day. They gave us a great rundown in a quick window of time. The cheese platters were a perfect start with our bubbles.

You might want to let people taste the wine first before you start talking about your wine club.

About the best wine tasting experience you will have in Sonoma county. Modern tasting room that is pretty. The main bar stands about 15 people. There are two other rooms for wine /food pairings. Reservations recommended. Nice folks. I met Izzy from Venezuela. Fun guy, knowledgeable. Even though Bambie & I chose the lowest priced $ 20 tasting that gets just 5 sips, Izzy was generous and we got 5 more. And that’s the tip of the iceberg here at J winery because they make dozens of wines. Quality? For the most part, outstanding. Bright, distinct flavors. The fruit shines. Each varietal has a flavor uniqueness. The winemaker doesn’t hammer the wines into a one mold flavor profile. I like the whites. All of them I tasted. I like the cheaper priced pinot noir blend — Fruit forward. Of course the sparkling wines are all fantastic. J makes several. As a Sonoma county resident, I’m loathe to join wine clubs with obligatory purchases every 3 months. But the wines here are so good, and a club member can swap out the quarterly featured selections for more desired bottles, that I did join the club. Recommended!

Can’t believe that after all the many years of living in Sonoma County that I never paid this wonderful winery a visit! This is first class wine, very refined and luscious. J Vineyards has an awesome and lengthy list of different Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Sparkling Wine. The tasting menu is a little pricey, so if that is a problem, then perhaps you can share a tasting with your friend or mate. We had excellent service from Izzy, a wonderful man that could tell we loved their Pinot Noir. He offered is a few tastings of wines that were not on the menu that day, and OFCOURSE we ended up signing up for their wine club! Wines average between $ 40 and $ 65. There are a few others under $ 40 as well. The tasting room shares an entrance with Rodney Strong Vineyards, so make sure you«bear to the left» when entering. The tasting room is classy but not pretentious. If you haven’t been, make it a point to visit J Vineyards and Winery.

The grounds and enclosed spaces of the winery are beautiful and provide a soothing vibe to visitors. We tasted the Chardonnay and decided it was for us… we purchased a bottle for lunch. They are known for their sparkling wines, but the still Chardonnay won out easily. Enjoy!

Very average winery, nice looking tasting room although very boring wines, most of what they let us try were wines we could pick up at the local grocery store for less… Not very impressed by any of their wines, the only reason this gets a 3 star is because of our Pourer Steve who was very nice and helpful. If my sweet-tooth takes over and I need a bottle of their 20 cuvée I’ll just head over to Safeway and pick one up for less than the winery. Worth a stop for the nice scenery though. Cheers!

Second time here, different experience but both were great! Immediately greeted when we walked into the door and then seated on the patio. I have been here before when the tasting was on the opposite side. At that time the dishes were served separately with the wine. This time it was all served together, both wines and food. With the exception of the lamb, which was shredded and dry. both the food and cheese pairings were delicious. The wines complimented them nicely. The setting is beautiful and makes for a lovely lunch. Next time I would like to do the tasting in the bubble room. We were unable to this time because our daughters were with us and are under 21. They did enjoy touring the wine country and hearing about the process and history.

Excellent experience, Kevin took such good care of us during our visit. We enjoyed a 5 course tasting menu with wine pairings in the bubble room. The tasting room and shop are small and I recommend sitting outside on the patio, the weather is beautiful and their bubbly is delicious. The cuvee 20 is one of my favorite sparklings under 29.00 bucks. I had a chance to taste the 1008 with a touch of brandy, not my favorite but definitely enjoyed the experience here. The girl who greeted us at the front counter was super sweet and helpful.

We drove an hour away from Napa to visit J vineyards, service was spectacular. Our five course wine and food pairing was exceptional, Kevin was very helpful and we were greeted with a glass of wine the minute we checked in. Every person we encountered at the tasting room and outside patio was very much willing to roll out a red carpet for us, exceptional service. I wish they would expand on their sparkling, there are only three: cuve 20, rose and the 1008, not disappointed in them at all. Be careful driving in, we found ourselves at the wrong tasting room. J vineyards is directly side by side with another establishment.

Loved it! Traveling with my entourage that included a sommelier(wine expert), we didn’t have an appointment here. This was my third winery stop. Since I’m not a wine lover and I just came from that horrid experience at the previous champagne stop(see Korbel review), I was done for the day. I said I didn’t want to taste anymore wine. Sneaky Sips: But, I did end up stealing a few sips here and there from the two tasters in my group who moaned in delight and marveled at every sip. OK, I caved. I gave in. VIP Delight: Loved the experience here, the server wanted us to have the full experience as a club member. She was fantastic! Because of my VIP connection and the obvious delight, while pretending to be cool, of someone in my group, they opened up bottles that they normally would not. Very cool. Did it work? Yes, we bought several bottles. What’d We Buy: $ 90 — J 2005 Late Disgorged Vintage Brut(meaning a little sweeter) $ 50 — J Brut 2008(two bottles) $ 45 — Pinot Meunier $ 38 — Sparkling J Brut Rosé $ 17 — J Pinot Gris, Russian River Valley Hit Of The Party: And, how wonderful was that $ 90 bottle? I have no idea. As I’m writing this review, it appears as if there was a party in my home and without my knowledge the bottle was the hit of the evening. LOL They also have a bubble room with wine pairings, but we didn’t know about this in advance. Hoping we can try this next time. Rumor Mill: I’m not one to spread rumors. I don’t know where this rumor started, but word on the street is next year’s release will be a vintage sparkling rose, which has never been done before. But, let’s keep this secret between you and me, OK?

So so so enjoyed our visit here. I was surprised by the tasting fees but they definitely dress up the experience and spent a lot of time talking to us, as well as including some tastes of other(pretty fancy) wines. I think in all we tasted 7 or so wines for the $ 20, and left with a bottle of their amazing STRATA Chardonnay. I don’t really expect or demand that people go above and beyond or make me feel important… Some of these reviews are pretty snooty. If you are friendly and ask questions they are more than happy to engage you and chat with you about your interests. Just be a good human, drink good wine, and be merry. J is great, hopefully we’ll make it back soon.

This is a gorgeous spot to visit when you are in the area. I have only good things to stay about this spot. I decided to give 4 stars because they always seem understaffed in the champagne room. The servers are running around, running in and out of the room, etc lots of waiting. And they forgot our water request. And they forgot our selections and poured the wrong choice. When you arrive, you walk over a picturesque bridge that is set above a lily pond. After you walk indoors, you are warmly greeted by reception. You have many choices(assuming you also don’t get distracted by the fun goodies for sale). You can do a tasting at the stand-up bar area, which is beautifully decorated with an artistic abstract backdrop. You can also request an outdoor table set in the front of the building and alongside the lily pond. Lastly, you can request a spot in the Bubble Lounge where they offer you a reserve tasting or a tasting dedicated solely to bubbles! Regardless of what you decide, the options will sure to please. I have tried all three options and I most recently did the Bubble Lounge. The special sparkling wines, offered at this special elite lounge, are fantastic. None of them can be purchased retail… so be prepared for a special treat. In addition, we opted for the cheese pairing. The cheeses were FANTASTIC. Each one was expertly paired with the perfect accompaniment. The brie was paired with pistachios and a berry compote. The pepper cheese was paired with a marinated dried cherry… and now my mouth is beginning to water. You get the idea. It was fantastic. All of it. Note: while the Bubble Lounge can work without a reservation, they do recommend reservations given that the small lounge does fill up. If you have the option, call and book ahead. I can’t wait to return.

Splendid! Just splendid! My boyfriend turned fiancé brought me back to J Vineyards to ask the ‘Big Question!!! The staff are just fabulous here. Not only were our place settings ready for our 3:00pm arrival but upon announcing the news, our attendant Kevin returned with a special champagne toast that was not part of the pairing. It was sublime! Funny enough Kevin was also our server when we visited J for the Bubble Room pairing. Five lick the plate delicious courses equally paired with a superb wine or champagne was the word of the day! The su vide carrot was the sweetest, tender carrot I have ever bitten in to. It was soft yet still maintained a slight crunch to the bite. This was accompanied by a strawberry gazpacho which was more akin to a light smoothie only warm. The lamb? Shoooot! So you know my last meal on earth is lamb chops. Can my last meal be here? I mean what could be better? The perfect melt in your mouth lamb, plus a robust Pino Noir to rinse after are what everyone dreams about right? The sauces for each dish were perfection. Literally worthy of every 5 stars and then some. Ensuring that we were satisfied with our meals and to congratulate us, the executive chef Erik came out to personally greet us. I adore this type of special service, it makes me melt. Anytime a chef takes time from his busy day to acknowledge a guest(me) deserves accolades. Thank you chef Erik! With so much decadent food and drink, you might need to walk it off. Take a stroll around the grounds. Don’t worry if you get thirsty along the way, there is a small area where additional wines may be served outside. J Vineyards hosts events throughout the summer, so I think I may just become a member today!

We decided to come here to do a tasting on Sunday before a Unilocal event in Santa Rosa. As soon as we walk up we where greeted at the door and told the lady we had a appointment that we booked online though cellar pass, she mark our name then walk us in and we where greeted by the guy who Was doing our tasting he poured us our first tasting and showed us the list and my gf wanted to try their Pinot noir, he explained the that tasting was $ 45 and that it was up stairs and that it was a siting tasting and he would check if there was a table available, we said ok and decided to split a tasting because we where kind of in a rush to get to our event on time, well he check and there was a table available so we where then walked up stair to our table, where we waited for like 10 minutes it was ok gave us time to look over the room, it has low table with nice comfortable chairs, nice place for a date. well when our sommelier came to our table to sever us he explained that if we want cheese it 20 more, we passed on the cheese, so he went and got our glasses put them on the table, then went and got our wine which was all pinot noir and explained to us about the wines we would taste, the wines we liked where the third pinot we tasted the 2012 j vineyards Robert Thomas Pinot noir and the 5th and last one the 2012 j vineyards barrel 16 Pinot noir, from my experience the last one alway best and cost the most and I was right $ 125 for the barrel 16, so we decided to purchase a bottle of the Robert Tomas for $ 65 and left. This place is pretty cool we will stop by if we’re ever in the area and not in a rush.

Amazing! I’ve been wanting to visit since I read that Sunset Magazine voted this place as best tasting room. If possible, it’s not to be missed. Dana, our tasting room pourer, was great! She was friendly, easy going, knowledgeable(but not afraid to say I don’t know if applicable, which is huge), and understood when my girlfriends and I were chatting it up and not interrupt. The tasting of 5 of their wines that are sold in stores is $ 20(I bought a bottle of Chardonnay and sparkling Cuvée, but would’ve loved to leave w their Pinot Meunier too. I also liked their Pinot gris and Pinot noir). They also have a sit down tasting with reserve wines for $ 30, and you can purchase cheese and charcuterie for an additional $ 20(which I think is a little much, but you never know!). They also have a two hour food and wine pairing, prepared by a full-time chef, for $ 75. I’d prefer the couch to the table in that room!!! I’d never leave! If you have any specific requests, they chef can make you something different then what’s on the menu. No matter which flight you choose, this winery is a must!!!

My favorite winery! Their wine(sparkling included) is delicious! I visit the J Winery Bubble Room every 2 months. The food and wine pairings are out of this world! If you have a friend who has not acquired the taste for wine, this is the place to bring them. It WILL change their minds. I cannot say enough great things about the Bubble Room! Wonderful experience every single time. Ask about their Bow Tie Chardonnay… its like butter. Incredible!
