Love this place! Great experience at the bar inside or on the patio. It’s popular but we snagged a seat outside near the complimentary water jugs, lemon and mint. We had the wine and cheese pairings, ended up joining the wine club and were comped both tastings. Could have stayed here all day. Wines are excellent also!!!

I’m a returning visitor to Medlock Ames and always have a great time, regardless of whether I’m in the tasting room, enjoying the beautiful garden, or sipping craft cocktails in the Alexander Valley Bar(opens at 5pm). The staff has always been bright and delightful to chat with, They’re knowledgable and generally fun. The wines leave nothing to be desired and are ever-increasing in ratings and deliciousness each vintage. The cheese pairing is always interesting and fun too! If you’re in the Alexander Valley I highly recommend a visit. One of the coolest places in Sonoma and certainly one of the best young wineries. Bring friends on Sunday in the summer for the live music and food truck!

Amazing space, beautiful tasting room and outside grounds and gardens, great red blends. They even have a mini speakeasy on the other side! Doesn’t open until night time though. Can’t wait to go back and do both a wine tasting and some evening cocktails.

This was one of my favorite wineries to do a tasting at. They have an open airy room with wines and amazing outdoor seating. The outdoor seating is surrounded by a veggies and herb garden. We brought lunch from Jimtown(a great lunch place) and ate while we did the tasting. What makes this place stand out from others is the cheese and tomato pairings that come with your wines. It is such a smart feature to offer. All of the wines were delicious. Next to the winery, actually attached, is a speakeasy that opens when the winery closes and they make drinks with the herbs from the garden. They also have an old school photo booth which was very neat.

If you come, ask for carol! We went to multiple wineries(and are from from wine country with family in the industry) and she is the best yet. Come here with your family if you want a good, family experience. She’s fantastic! Family of 8 highly recommends

I wish there were more stars to give Medlock Ames! This is such a cute, small, family like place. We were instantly greeted upon walking in. They had a 5 wine pairing with cheeses! I loved that they served cheese with the wine. All the cheeses and wine were wonderful. During our tasting, we met one of the workers, Carole, and started asking her about the wines. She came over to our table and gave us a free wine lesson on how to see the wine, smells and swish. We learned so much in the mini lesson! She was so sweet and helpful! We were so happy we found this place! Carole is a wonder!

Didn’t do the Alexander Valley Rd tasting room. We went on the ‘Ranch Tour’ at the winery. One of the best winery tours our group has ever been on. Excellent value– particularly versus the mostly overpriced Napa Valley wineries(overpriced in terms of wine AND tour costs)… Extremely interesting, very unique property Stacey, our host was fantastic! HIGHLY recommended!

What a great wine tasting experience. I like wine and wine tasting, what I don’t love is the places that hurry you through a list while you’re elbow-to-elbow at the counter. Not to worry at Medlock Ames. We were invited to sit down on their beautiful patio and Carol brought us the wines at a measured pace, and sat down with us to discuss the wines, allowing us the opportunity to savor and reflect on the different flavors and aromas that were in each selection. Carol even brought us a small cheese plate and suggested which cheeses to try with the various wines. Beth also came around to discuss what we were tasting, so we really felt taken care of. Overall, a superb experience. We bought more wine than I expected, so their clever strategy of making you feel valued paid off.

Visited on a gorgeous day and sat outside on their patio to enjoy our tasting. The 2012 Sauvignon Blanc and the 2013 Cabernet were our favorites. The first is crisp, tastes of grapefruit and was perfect for sipping poolside and we obviously had to had it. I also«had» to join the wine club since they have not only a lovely wine tasting room, outdoor garden space, post 5pm speakeasy with full bar + bar bites and a full tasting tour offered down the road at their vineyard that comes complimentary with club membership. That and Carole, our incredibly pleasant wine pourer, made everything that much more enjoyable – bringing us extra cheeses, olive oil and generally just being adorable. Thanks Medlock Ames! Can’t wait to come back.

Went to the tasting room for the first time this labor day weekend after visiting the actual vineyard on my last trip to Healdsburg. The setting is beautiful and already had my heart when they mentioned the wine is paired with cheese. Had such an enjoyable afternoon sitting on the patio with great wine and great service. The staff was extremely knowledgeable and patiently answered all of our questions. Each wine was paired with a small bite of cheese and for one we were able to pick fresh cherry tomatoes from the garden. We ended up buying so much wine(which is very reasonably priced considering the quality) that we only had to pay for one tasting fee instead of three. Will definitely be going back to both the tasting room and the vineyard in the future.

Wow! Fantastic experience! What a phenomenal staff and impeccable wines! I went in far over my wine budget for the month but of course ended up leaving with a hefty amount more from the incredible place! We did not try a bad wine at all. The ladies that helped us in the tasting room were absolutely perfect, they were very knowledgable and great help! I highly recommend this place for everyone, white wine fans to big cab fans, if they have the Kate’s and B’s cab open, you absolutely must try it! Cheers!

Heaven on earth! First of all. the wines… oh my. LOVED every single one I tasted. Even the Chardonnay. and I’m definitely a Red girl. Beth was awesome-welcoming, friendly, and knowledgeable. We sat outside under a canopy of grapes(very cool) while Beth brought the wine to us, along with a yummy cheese pairing. I was so impressed, I joined the wine club right then and there. Can’t wait to come back!

We did the Medlock Ames Ranch tour with Stacy that provided us with a history of the old vines used to produce their wine. Enjoyed eating blackberries and other berries from the garden. Strolled up the hill to the organic farm and enjoyed the wonderful surroundings before going through the producition area. We then had a wine tasting paired with cheeses and sausage to finish the tour. We decided to join the wine club as the wines were very good. We arrived too late at the tasting room that day so only got a glass of wine, but the place nextdoor converts into a bar that opens when the tasting room closes. Great idea! We returned to the tasting room the next day, to enjoy tastings with Isabella. Thank you for making our weekend fantastic and we are recommending it to our family and friends to visit as well. The tasting room is a great location for a picnic as well.

One of my favorite wineries in Healdsburg area. Staff is always super friendly and you can tell Beth loves explaining wine to guests. All the wines are delicious, from Sauv Blanc to Merlot to Rose. You get a little cheese pairing to go with the wine. Next time we’re going to check out the speakeasy as well!

I was fortunate enough to work for this winery for a few months during the busy season. Not only is their wine extraordinary — you can taste the heart and soul of the winemaker with every sip. This company is not part of the environmental fad — they are third generation sustainable farmers that embody and live the lifestyle of sustainability and nature and all it has to offer us. If you have an opportunity to take a tour of the ranch with a tasting —(It is about 2 hours long) — don’t pass it up! You get to experience first-hand the passion and fine-quality and respect that goes into every drop. No matter what wine you like typically — be sure to try their sauvignon blanc, and their cabernet sauvignons… oh my!

We booked a tour for the Medlock Ames Estate tour of their Bell Mountain Ranch and boy was it an experience. Beth took us around their property for their tour and we enjoyed a quiet peaceful tasting on top of the Chalk Hill AVA. Lots of wonderful estate wines, a fantastic rose and beautiful barrel room! Beth was very knowledgeable and happy to share about the property and their organic farming practices. As a local I encourage any out of town guest to book a tour with Medlock.

Casey is AMAZING. I was booking a wine tour for the day before my brother’s wedding and was looking for a unique winery experience for about 40 people. Most wineries, while very kind on the phone, simply could not accommodate us. Not only did Casey agree to help us out at Medlock Ames, he reached out to some other wineries/tasting rooms that might be able to help us as well! Once we arrived, he was friendly, knowledgeable, and SO accommodating. He encouraged us to ask questions, walk around and eat the herbs in the herb garden, and he talked about their olive oil production. He also showed us the very cool speakeasy in the back of the building. I honestly can’t say enough good things about Medlock Ames and it was without a doubt the highlight of the entire wine tour. THANKYOU, Casey!!!

Came here late Sunday for a birthday celebration. I’ve passed this winery many times on my bike not knowing anything about it. We spread blankets & chairs on the lawn in the outdoor area and although it was a hot day there were ample olive trees sprinkled throughout which provided shade. Pleasant live music was playing on the nearby patio. We purchased a few bottles of a lovely crisp Sauvignon Blanc which was perfect on this warm evening. I really liked the vibe here– nice families and couples noshing, laughing, and sipping wine with little ones playing nearby– family friendly for sure. My only complaint was the food truck. It was serving Mexican food which I love, but with the extensive menu of choices offered there was only one item available– which you did not learn about until you were at the window– after waiting in line. The man at the window was rather gruff and had little patience when any questions were asked. That is my only gripe and does not affect my opinion of Medlock Ames. I was relieved to learn that the food trucks rotate and heard the others were quite good. Besides, you can bring your own spread! I’m looking forward to returning to this charming unpretentious winery! PS– there is also a full bar here!
