So. This is based on two visits — would have given 0.001 stars if it were possible! First visit — long wait to be seated, unending wait for server to make an appearance — after 15 mins I enquire(of a passing waiter) if I could put in my order and am told they’ll send my waitress over. She appears after another 5 mins, marches over in a huff, and tells me «it will be a while» and that if I’m in a hurry, I should grab something at Chik a fil. I blink away my stupor but she’s gone by then. So I walk out. Second visit — now. I see the place isn’t crammed like last time and I know I need to get something to eat, plus have 2+ hours to kill — so I figure I’ll give it another shot. And I stand by the«please wait to be seated» sign for 5 mins before anyone shows up. Finally a grumpy usher yells, «ma’am» from inside and I realize she’s waving at me. Get seated at a booth and wait. But this time I’m determined to see just how long a single traveler needing a quick lunch and beer is made to wait. I’m rewarded for my patience 15 mins later when a waitress comes to take my order. She was quick with the beer and the food came in under 15 mins — whoa! Food(buffalo chicken tenders and salad) was just about edible. And since the place wasn’t packed, I sat for an hour — caught up on email and a few reviews from this trip ;-)). Bottomline — avoid this place unless you have 90+ mins and a thick skin.

Awful food & fruit Fly problem! I came here to grab a quick bite before my flight since it was right across my gate. I sat at the bar and ordered the buffalo chicken strips. I mean I don’t have high expectations for airport food but goodNESS. The chicken strips had endless amounts of gristly fat in them. I was literally gagging. On top of that there was like an infestation of fruit flies and little gnats flying around that I was constantly having to shu away with my hands. Pretty sure this is a sign of unsanitary conditions behind the bar. Awful. Choose Outback or something in the food court. Super nasty.

So slow. We would have had more drinks but we couldn’t get the server to stop by, and even when we did it took another 15 minutes to get our drink! Food was subpar at best. Crappy way to start our wedding vacation!

It 4mins to get seated and exactly 48mins to serve a burger, the burger was cold. not even a fair place for food. you may just want to stop by just for drinks

I came in here yesterday while waiting for my friend to get in from her flight after I landed. My server had 9 tables and absolutely no help. I felt so bad for her. The food was decent, but the lack of help overshadowed it. I would highly recommend that the management hires or schedules more hands. People need to get to their flights on time. One server can’t possibly manage 9 tables at once.

Horrible service! Sat for 20 minutes without anyone asking to take our order. Tried to get one of the server’s attention and she held up a finger for us to wait then never came back. We watched the manager Eric take the orders of four other tables who came in after us before we finally called him over and he didn’t even care that we hadn’t been waited on. Worst experience ever!

Wow, people were truly right about this place. The family got to the airport at 12:30PM for a 2:20PM flight and got through check-in and security in five minutes. We came here early on purpose to grab a sit-down lunch before getting on the plane for the long flight to Phoenix. We thought Max & Erma’s would be a good choice since it was literally right across our gate. Thank god it was, or else we would’ve probably missed our flight. We were seated rather quickly and our orders were taken quickly as well. However, we waited foreverrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr for our food. It was 1:45 when they started boarding for our flight, which is when our food arrived. That’s ridiculous! When our food got here, it wasn’t very good. My fiancé got the french onion soup which looked like a sad mess of soggy bread and no cheese, and my burger bun was stale. They didn’t even have some of the menu items, so options here are quite limited. Also, they didn’t have any cookies available(what the heck; Max & Ermas = delicious hot cookies!!!), and our server told us it would take 15 minutes for a batch to be made. Obviously, we skipped. We should’ve just gone to Chick-Fil-A or something. tl;dr slow ass service, menu items aren’t even available. no cookies :(

Host — 5 minute wait to get seated. Waitress– curmudgeonly woman who couldn’t have been more rude. Some people aren’t meant for the service industry. Hours– started shutting off lights and closing doors at 8:35 despite online hours of 1am… Suggestion — go to mcdonalds or chic-fil-a

Eh… This place is ok. When walking in, we waited a while and there was an employee just standing around and on her phone and didn’t even take notice to us. Took about an hour to get our food. Thank goodness we had a couple hours to kill but my goodness! The waitress only came a few times. Only filled our glasses once. Have to fall people down to ask for extra napkins or to get our check. The food was ok. Very disappointed with the wait for this burnt, all bread burger. I got the turkey burger and all I tasted was bread. The turkey patty had no flavor. The avocados were fresh which was very surprising.

If I could give 0 I would. Hostess was VERY rude. The service was not accommodating. Management needs to make some changes.

How much better can you do for airport food? The service was semi-quick, and the waitress did a good job. It was pretty dead on a Wednesday evening. I ordered the chicken pecan apple salad – not bad! If I was waiting for a flight here in the future, I’d probably check it out again.

Avoid this location at all costs. Yes, I am well aware there are not a lot of eating options at the Cincinnati Airport(especially at odd hours). It’s rough at this airport for hungry people but they need to hire more staff at this location or something. Or maybe hand out some bonuses so someone actually likes working here. By the time the food came out we were already frustrated and the food was so-so. I thought over an hour would be enough time since we were right by our gate. It was still tight.

Horrid service, cold food. Waited 10 minutes to be seated, 10 more minutes for a menu, 15 minutes for a beer, 15 more minutes for the staff to come back and ask about food, 25 minutes to get a sandwich(it was cold), 20 minutes to get a second beer, 20 minutes to get the check. They had 3 staff waiting on 20+ tables, and the people in the patio were completely ignored most of the time. Was scared I’d miss my flight. You’re better off at the Outback Steakhouse.

I’d love to comment on the food. Or the service. Or the drinks. Or anything. Yet again I was seated knowing due to flight delays I had 40 minutes. 5 minutes in and no server to be found. Anywhere. They were all gone. This happened to me here a few months back too. One gentleman told me he had been waiting for 15 minutes to get a soda refill and his check that never came.

Dead fish personality server/hostess. Terrible service. Unless you get here hours before departure, you’ll miss your flight or die starving while waiting.

I wish I could give this place a BIG0! Don’t waste your time here even if you are starving. Seriously! Wait staff absolutely ridiculous and should all be fired!

Slow service, poor attitudes, bad tasting wine… not much to enjoy at Max & Erma’s except for the stomach ache on the flight.

The service was awful and the food stunk! Like it was just not good. First of all the restaurant was not busy at all! And it took an hour from start to finish. Now normally an hour is cool and fine for a restaurant. But we are in an airport! No one is here for that much time! The waitress was so not with it and we had to wait and Search for her and we asked for the check it was like the biggest in incidence ever! It was so bad that I didn’t tip her the full %, which I never do that because I know waitressing is not easy or fun! But she was honestly that bad! Had it been busy I would of understood but I could count the people there on two hands and they were not all her tables. So there it is. And the food was gross! Go to chic-fil-a!

I was disappointed with this Max & Erma’s. I’ve been to others in the chain and they were fine. By biggest concern with this location is how long it took to get food and pay our checks. Our gate was next to the restaurant and we had over 80 min before our flight took off. Some of my travel companions were stressed that they were not going to make their flight because the service was so slow. To be clear, I think they were just understaffed as the people who were there were working(though some could have been more efficient). All of this said, I have no idea how you can operate a restaurant in an airport where it takes 60+ min to get food, eat, and pay the check. If this keeps up, I don’t expect Max & Erma’s will have a restaurant here a year from now!

Had a layover in the airport and needed to kill about three hours, so this place fit the bill. I was amazed to see 20 oz. Bud Lights for $ 4.95, so I made sure to take advantage of that. The burger I had, the Tortilla, was tasty, but extremely greasy. The burger was dripping in it as soon as I picked it up for the first bite. Fries are pretty salty too. I didn’t really get the soup on the side for dunking part, so I didn’t use it. The staff was very nice and always asked if I needed anything. You have to wait on line before sitting down(the hostess seats you), but can bypass that if you just sit at the bar. Would come back if ever in the luxurious Cincinnati airport again.

Well, you have to lower your expectations when you’re going to an airport restaurant, especially when it’s the only one open in the morning. It took awhile to be seated, but the waitress did seem to be the only one working in the restaurant(she was the server, the maitre’d, the bartender), so I get that she can’t do it all at once. The menu was limited, but we gladly made our breakfast choices. The food came relatively quickly. It satisfied the morning munchies alright, but nothing to write home about.

Food is not as good as rest of chain. Cold onion soup, overpriced crappy potato skins 3 for 6.89, Ok salad with chicken and bitter tasting iced tea. Place was empty and server was apathetic. She didnt want to be there. Breadstick could have broken wall. Honey mustard dressing was just mustard.

Meh. I’ve had better. The location in Cincinnati was much better. I ate at the bar for lunch on a weekend and it was 30% full. First, there’s very poor reception. Perhaps not Max & Erma’s fault but still a big problem while waiting for a flight. Second, the bartender/server was great. He was nice, quick and attentive. Might have been nice to strike up a conversation(as other bartender/servers do at other restaurants) but I understand some customer’s don’t like that. Third, the food was below expectations. The California Club was overly greasy. The bun fell apart. The taste didn’t come together. Fourth, the food took too long to arrive for an airport establishment. I wouldn’t return to this location.

This was the only sit-down restaurant in the airport because all the others were closed!(This airport is on the skids). I had the Club Sandwich, which was below par, and it came smothered in very poor quality French Fries. Faux News was on the TV. Sorry, one demerit for that! Service — 4STARS Ambiance — 3STARS Location — 4STARS Food — 2STARS

If you’ve spent much time in the Midwest, Max & Erma’s is a staple when it comes to chain food. They specialize in burgers and are normally good(for chain food). Meanwhile, this location in the Delta area of the Cinci Airport falls short of the typical location. While many are forced to eat here(like we were) because options for a sit down restaurant are slim, the service is slow and below average and the food isn’t anything to brag about. In fact, my meal came out cold and was obviously sitting around for a while before it was brought to the table. Meanwhile, if you are need to eat and are craving a burger, this might be your best spot in Terminal B, just be patient and you’ll be fine.

CVG, the Cincinnati airport, is pure hub. Things shut down at 7pm, except for the central corridor – where Max and Erma await you. This is the second M&E I’ve visited, and it’s just a burger restaurant chain in the Midwest. It took quite possibly a million years for my Bud Light to arrive and for some godforsaken reason I ordered 12 spicy buffalo wings. It was an act of contrition to finish those wings, the entire time trying not to but failing to think of where these poor, sickly chickens came from. The spicy wing sauce only gave me indigestion and some nasty farts the next day. But that also coulda been the Bud Light. At one point, the bartender literally chased after a man whom she claimed didn’t pay for his order. Turns out, he did. It’s just sad all around here. Max & Erma’s at CVG is ultimate purgatory for the business traveller. Cheers!

The place is the only place really to get a proper breakfast(I don’t consider McDonald and the likes places to get proper breakfast). I ended up at this airport as part of a strange red-eye, three hops flight back from Las Vegas to Montréal after a busy convention. After scouting«Concourse B»(where all the Delta flights operates now), I decided for a breakfast here. It’s not at all up to the standard that you’ll find in major hubs such as Detroit where there are restaurants that feature electric port to charge your devices at every table; No this place feels like the 70s. No outlets. It was 6:30 am and I was standing in line behind two girls that obviously were coming from the west coast like me. When the waitress came to ask them how many, they told two, and then turned around and asked me if I wanted to join them. I politely declined and let them enjoy their time together. I ended at the table booth next to them. They were surely on a connection since they did enquire where they were — Cincinnati — and then what time it is, saying«It is like 3 am right?» — Yes, on the west coast, but here it was 6:30 am. That didn’t deter one to ask for a Bloody Mary but the other went for a more typical morning drink, a mimosa. I was more in the mood for a typical english breakfast so that was simply eggs with bacon, breakfast potatoes, toast and coffee. It was fine if nothing to write home about. The waitress was right out of a 60s TV show and did provide very friendly service. All in all, a quite entertaining experience! I would have given probably two star if this place was not the only option of its kind in that captive environment and if the show had not been as entertaining but as it was, here we go, four stars!
