I would not eat here again or waste my money at this location. There was an excuse for everything. We told them it was cold and our steaks were getting cold, and asked if they could do something about it. «It’s cold because we get hot running around», but they didn’t help or fix it. The steak looked great but tasted terrible. I felt like I was chewing a balloon. At one point the waiter asked how it was because he saw all the fat and tendons I had cut out. So my husband told him. His response was, «yeah that is how sirloins are, the more expense cuts are not like that». Seriously I have had more sirloins than I can count, and they were not full of tendons and fat. Not worth the money, experience, or excuses!

Excellent Service and great quality of food. This was probably the best food service we have had in months anywhere. Manager Kylee was exceptional too. This restaurant has made strives in all area and I recommend anyone to give them a try or another try if they have been here before.

The first time I went here with my family it was such an awesome experience that we talked about it often and wanted to go back. So we went back for my husband’s birthday and had a horrible experience. I ordered a margarita on the rocks and received a frozen margarita. But once our waiter dropped off the drinks he disappeared so I couldn’t tell him my drink was wrong. I ended up having to flag down another employee to get me the right drink which took so long I was halfway through my meal before it arrived. So we didn’t go back to that location for quite a while but then decided to go back again a while later to give it another shot. The service was horrible again with the waiter not being available when you needed anything, like placing your order or drink refills. Considering each time we go there we spend well over $ 100 it’s an extremely disappointing meal.

I just want you to know how whomever is responsible for ruining me and my husbands 41st Anniversary. We went there thinking we were going to have a great steak dinner and go home and have a great evening together. The waitress we had was great. She gave us our bread, our tea and took our order. Everything was running smoothly. So we got our salads and after that, everything went into slow mode. It took a very long time to get our meal. I got the Maudeens filet. It was kind of warm and the butter was having a hard time melting. The fries were hot. but my husband’s prime rib was cold and the butter would not melt and his sweet baked potato was warm. Now you know when you get those taters, they are hot. So the manager I assume came and took his plate and about 5 minutes later presented him with the same plate except it looked like they popped it in the microwave and the prime rib was grey. Looked really gross. So I told him not to eat it and I gave him what was left of my steak. The waitress apologized and the manager took the prime rib off of the bill. Our whole evening was ruined. My husband felt like it was his fault for taking me there. I just want the person who reads this that this is our 41st Anny and at our age and bad health, we don’t know how many more we have to celebrate. And when you have a bill of $ 45 you can’t do this very often. Thank you for whoever reads this.

UPDATE: WOW! I got a call from the General Manager about this experience… what a great guy! Seriously. He profusely apologized for this whole experience and really listened and empathized with what this was like for our Anniversary. I was super impressed in that he genuinely seemed to care that we have a much better experience in the future and offered to let us have a do over for our anniversary at the restaurant, and make certain that we have a much better experience. He explained clearly what should have happened the first time and I’m certain he will correct whatever went wrong on this particular visit. Not often that a GM will call you to apologize, and listen as well as this guy did. I’ve changed my star rating just because he was so genuine about this. I’ll update again after the next visit which will probably be in the first week of January. Original Experience on 12÷28÷15: Good grief! Huge dissapointment tonight! Service took forever, on top of a 50 minute wait to just get a table on a Monday night. I have not sent food back to any kitchen in quite a few years. But the clock started over tonight. our waitress was high energy and delightful… none of this was her fault. But the meal was anything but delightful. And on our 41st wedding anniversary. I let my wife choose the steak place, even though I wanted to go to Ruth’s Chris or Perry’s. My wife ordered the Maudeen’s cut, medium rare with fries, and I ordered the same thing I always order at Saltgrass, the medium rare Prime Rib with a sweet baked potato. In fact, I just had the same exact thing at a different Saltgrass at Huebner Oaks shopping center about a week and a half ago. However, tonight, after waiting for what seemed like an eternity before our meal came out, when I cut into my Prime Rib and took a bite, it was cold… more like room temp. And I tried a bite of the sweet baked potato and it was barely warm. It was not even warm enough to melt butter. And I had also ordered the horseradish butter for my prime rib, and it too just sat like a cold lump on top of the room temp steak, and would not melt because there was no heat to melt it. So, for the first time in many many years, I actually voiced a complaint that the steak was cold. The kind waitress from the bar took my steak and potato back to the kitchen while I sat watching my wife eat her meal. After another 5 or 6 minutes or so, back came out my same exact plate, with the same prime rib and potato, but now the top of the steak was a grayish color, like it had been microwaved. Personally, I didn’t care as long as it was warmer than when it first came out, but my wife began to complain that this was ridiculous and I should not have to eat something that looked so disgusting when our original waitress returned to check on us. So, after maybe only three bites of the worst prime rib ever, I said forget it to the kind waitress, and told her I would just finish up my wife’s now cold half of a filet mignon and fries. Thank goodness they removed the prime rib from the bill… what a fantastic 41st wedding anniversary! So here I sit writing what I had hoped would be an excellent review of Saltgrass tonight, and still hungry for a steak. And before anyone comments about what the temperature of a medium rare prime rib should be, please note again, that I have ordered this exact steak prepared exactly this way at Saltgrass numerous times over the years, and have never received a room temperature prime rib, from ANY steak restaurant! If it had had even a hint of heat in it, I probably would have just eaten it and said nothing. And no, I’m not giving up on Saltgrass… I’ve had great steaks at many Saltgrass restaurants. Even this one. So, one bad night is not going to discourage me. But not sure I will be back to this location again any time soon. Maybe give them time to work out whatever kinks they’ve got going on right now. There are plenty of other Saltgrass Steakhouses in San Antonio.

Really good food. The ribeye was on point. The queso was on point and so was our waiter. Really nice gentlemen. Clean bathrooms, clean facility. We’d go back to this one if we lived closer.

What a miserable experience at this location! Salt grass has LETMEDOWN! My girlfriend and I went to dinner on Friday oct 23. We were told the wait would be 40 min and we waited an hour. For a party of two they sat us in the back area at a 6 top table. In that area there was a big party of 15 adults and next to them were their children, an additional table of 10 – 12 kids. We told our server we would like to be sat in a different section and she told us we would have to go back to the bottom of the waiting list. We were hungry and unfortunately stayed at the same table next to the screaming children. Now here is where our nightmare started! Appetizer took about 45 min to get to our table. It was a good appetizer and the server asks was it worth the wait? Ummm no I eat bacon wrapped shrimp for a night snack. Then our food took(I don’t even know how long) forever to get to us. Let’s just say people who sat down after us got their appetizers, salads, and even main dishes before us. Our waiter Victoria blamed the new servers and chaos going on in the back. Ummm no it is your fault because I’m pretty sure we only had 5 interactions with her while we were their sitting at the table for more than 2 and a half hours. Not once did a manager come to the back section to acknowledge any of the clients. It was a simple solution to a minor problem. Move us to a different section. The fact that our server blamed new hires on the service shows that the«experienced» servers lack initiative to show new co-workers proper practices and that managers do not train employees to the best of their abilities and hold no accountability. Pisspoor service, never eating at salt grass again. I’m taking my business to Longhorn now!

This is one of the easy and safe places for us eat gluten free. The wait staff is usually well versed in gluten free requirements, but there has been a couple times we had to request the manager help fix things and educate the new wait staff. Regardless, the chef has always fixed the food with the utmost care if the food is ordered correctly.

This place is so inconsistent for their price point and when compared to other similar chain steakhouses. Steaks can be good, if you are lucky, but their service is hit or miss and their veggie and salad quality have definitely decreased in the last year. We are laundry club members so we were going frequently but have only visited once or twice in the last few months.

It was a very busy Thursday night. Afer i tasted the food, i marveled at how that could be so. I was rather disappointed. The bread want anything special. The first bite of my wedge salad threw me as it was the woody heart. Once i got past that, the dressing was tasty. My t-bone steak was grisly, dissapointing. My sweet potato — fries cold. I had asked for 2 different taquillas, i didn’t think them that rare, they didn’t have either. Disapponting, especially considering the prices. The only bright spot, an excellent server, i believe her name was Baily. I’ll never go back nor to another Salt Grass. Nor will i ever recommend it.

Just plain good! Atmosphere — casual, rustic décor, Texas style Service — Fantastic! Ask for Mark. He was one of the best waiters I’ve ever had. He was able to answer all of our questions and make good recommendations. He even told us he’s eaten everything on the menu! Food — Here comes to part. I ordered queso with beef brisket and chips for an appetizer. It was outstanding. It was the first time I’ve had that and found it to be better than your average queso. You may want to order extra chips if you have more than two eating them. Next, I enjoyed the baked potato soup. Solid taste. Fresh black pepper on top gave it a nice kick. Finally, my 8oz Wrangler sirloin topped with sautéed mushrooms and onions was filling. The garlic butter on top added a little something special. Dessert was a lunch sized portion(which looked like an average portion to me) was not too sweet and not too rich. Oddly enough, must comment on the sweet tea. It was FABULOUS! Many restaurants make it so sweet that your teeth ache after one sip. However, this was just right! I even asked for one to go.

Good vibe at the bar and the beer was especially cold this visit… bonus! We had the Range Rattlers as an appetizer and they were excellent. Dinner was a steak and it was good and cooked very well(medium). We are frequent customers here and will continue to update.

The worst place to eat in the entire world of ours!!! The waitress was uneducated and her approach to the table was nothing but ridiculous. The so called manager(such an idiot!!) laughs at our request for a waitress with training. Never saw a waitress for the entire 25 minutes we waited for service. The manager commented to us as we were leaving, no service for complaining people. Salt Grass upper management had nothing but praise for the idiot at this location. Stupid breeds stupid! Run from this sorry establishment.

Several distrusting things. First the good… our waitress was awesome. She knew how to treat us. The food was good. The cheese fries were great. Steak was also pretty good. Now the bad… one of the servers was eating off the plates prior to bringing them to customers. The place was dirty. The guy assigned to cleaning tables and such had a load of clean dishes he was putting away, he was flipping one of them and it fell to the ground. He picked it up and put it on the shelf. Not sure I will be back to this location.

Steak is not a usual thing for me; maybe once a year. I ordered the porterhouse medium rare. It was cooked exactly the way I wanted. The garlic mashed potatoes were excellent as well. Our waitress was a little slow with our drinks and water. However it was packed so I’ll let that slide I was disappointed with the presentation of my plate though. It was just the steak and potatoes with no garnish or flair. Drinks, when they finally came were nice and strong. That always makes things better!

Rough night I’m guessing. The manager on duty was apologizing to tables left and right. My fiancé received a completely different meal than he originally ordered-the shrimp platter in place of the mixed grill plate. The manager apologized and gave us the shrimp platter free to take home and then brought out the correct order. My steak was brought out well done instead of medium as requested. This too was switched out. Once corrected, I have to admit the food was hot, fresh, and well seasoned. Best part of the meal though was the tropical sangria and frozen Texas tea. Wish the experience had been better. Our waiter, Daniel and the manager on duty really did try their best to correct issues but it was clear from just the tables around us something was definitely up with the cooks.

came in for a late lunch with my mom about 3:30, lo and behold their lunch specials run until 4:00! I had not been to this particular location, but we decided to give it a try and we were not at all disappointed! Our server was so friendly and attentive! The atmosphere is also very nice and inviting. They have a nice bar area with a flat screen TV, so if you want to watch a game or catch up on news it would be great! Now to the food! Of course there was complimentary bread and this one was really good. It tasted like a honey wheat and it was fresh and warm and yummy! Mom ordered the Chicken Laredo with her choice of side being the steamed veggies(broccoli, carrots and green beans) She said it was all great. I felt like a salad and decided on the Tenderloin Cobb Salad. The meat was cooked to order(medium-delicious!) and was a GREAT salad! Everything was fresh and tasty! I don’t like bleu cheese or olives, so excluded that, they subbed cheddar cheese for the bleu-nice! I will definitely return again, can’t wait to try something else and maybe one of the drinks on their menu or the amazing looking dessert menu!
