My mom and I walked in and no one welcomed us or said anything at all. We have never been here before but good thing I read the other reviews to know we can just sit down because when you walk in the front counter where people do to go orders is right there. I asked do we just sit and a he said yes. I then asked for a tea and they have NOTEA! I asked if they have alcohol and the guy didn’t understand me so I gave up and ordered a water. We asked if they have the white sauce and again he was blank faced. So then we went to order cheese dip and they were all out. Completely bummed. I ordered the quesidillas and my mom got a taco salad. The food was really good and the service improved throughout. I will say when I was eating I noticed a weird women manikin in the back of the restaurant with crazy hair and short tight black dress on and missing an arm. Everywhere else was decorated and matched but this was just weird. Anyway I don’t think we will ever go back just due to the lack of english, they didn’t have any tea or cheese dip and because of the weird layout.

Love supporting the smsll business. Thanks Thomas, for great reviews. Friendly greeting as soon as you walk in. Love that! Nice wooden booths and single seating available for the lunch crew. But I saw a lot of pickup, too. Served Salsa and warm chips. Salsa had good texture. Fish tocas hot and good, with lots if shredded chihuahua cheese for me to wrap in my flour tortillas.

Have been there twice and both time food has been Great, we’ve had great service. The first time I had I ordered tacos al pastor and they were delicious. The second time we had tortas Cubanas and they were huge. One of those feeds two people. This place has definitely made it to one of our favorites.

It is a Good as it Gets in Los Comales… I been now, 3 times and the food and service has been top notch for a little«Mom & Pop» Restaurant which has been open for ONLY a year. The Food is Authentic, and excellent in Flavors from the South of the Border. The Salsa is some of the Best I have eaten in Richmond and even when I lived in New Mexico years ago… Yesterday, they had a NEW Green Salsa and I had 5 refills of it, as it seemed I could not get enough on my Chip… Los Comales is very clean, and has such a feeling of being in Mexico, I feel like I have crossed the Southern Border each time I enter. They make you feel welcome, and will answer any questions about the food. The portions are large, and you do not walk away hungry. I wish I could order a Margarita, however there is no alcohol on the primes. If you are looking for Good Authentic Mexican Food which is packed full of Flavor, than Los Comales is the place for you. Great for kids, as they also make many different Mexican deserts with Ice Cream.

Are you to expect absolute perfection after seeing a 5 star review? Absolutely not, specially if you cook often. However, I found this place to have delicious, authentic, Mexican food with a few Central American options as well. This remind me of my mother’s home cooking(yes, some mothers cook better than others-I like to think my mother is one of the best when it comes to Mexican). It’s cheap, delicious, and they definitely don’t skimp out on servings. You won’t regret it. Try their Atole(toasted maiz flavor) and«Mexican» Key Lime Pie.

Unfortunately i can’t speak much for the food at this point because i didn’t get a chance to try it. I walked in with a friend at around 7 to try this place out, and there were 3 girls behind the counter and one male«customer» in front chatting away. No acknowledgement for me and my guest for a good 2 minutes. Not sure if we should seat ourselves I said«Hello are you guys open??» –Take out or dine in? «Dining in please» — have a seat someone will be with you in a second. Now I’m not going to claim I was there an absurd amount of time but enough time for my company and I to go back and forth about whether we should leave or not because those girls were clearly not interested our business. We ended up leaving and getting dirty looks on the way out. So we just went to casa grande up the street. I probably won’t come back.

I LOVETHISPLACE! The staff is always so nice and polite and the food is so authentic! Makes me feel close to home. Would recommend this to anyone who wants to taste what real Mexican tastes like. It has nothing on Mexico Restaurant, Casa Grande and whatever other Americanized Mexican food places. Prices are great too.

Los Comales is a new restaurant that took over Chicken Fiesta’s old location in the shopping center near Marshall’s on Broad Street. Some people may not find this review fair given how new it is, but I had high hopes from a predecessor that were not met. First impressions walking in, the layout does not work. They threw a bakery counter in right next to the door as well as a high-top ledge around the front window that really cuts the flow walking in. It was dark in here before but now it’s even darker.(Turn on a light please!) You can do take out or the tables are waited on now instead of over the counter ordering. Upon seating I was served some complimentary chips and salsa but nothing unique about it flavor wise. The variety on the menu is pretty wide and they appear to have a lot of more authentic dishes such as menudo as options. I went very«americanized» and ordered chicken flautas and a carne asada toastada. The flautas, though crispy, were not extremely flavorful on there own. They were piled with lettuce, avocado and queso fresco with a side of re-fried beans that looked like there were from a can. The tostada tasted stale and the carne asada was a bit chewy. Wait staff were okay but not very attentive. When I was ready to leave I made eye contact with another waitress but she didn’t come over so I got up and paid at the register. I was the only person dinning in, with the exception of someone that appeared to be associated with the restaurant. Occasionally I observed the wait staff going and sitting and having a conversation with him. I realize it might be slow but as a fairly new restaurant I personally believe it’s important to at the very least have good customer service. Every new kitchen has kinks to work out when first opening. A lot of people can overlook food from a brand new place if they at least rock customer service. I don’t know if I would come back here again. You could say it would be fair to give it one more shot but I don’t know I would make it a first choice place.
