First of all, I do not like Bed and Breakfasts. I don’t like the forced aspect of human interaction early in the morning. I am kind of a grumpy Gus early in the AM. We showed up two hours late, and staff was more than accommodating with that. Building was properly secured after hours, and room had good working locks. I know this is not important to most people, but being in law enforcement, it is paramount to my comfort. It means I can get cozy and comfortable without being on guard. Location was perfect, right in the middle of town with easy walking to anything within Hermann proper. The room was very spacious and very clean. I have no complaints about the room. The shower head was POWERFUL and the spray was more than adequate. Room was quiet and the ceilings were very high. Working ceiling fans in every room, which is always welcomed. The kitchenette was more than enough and the fridge was large enough for leftovers. The bed was a bit squeaky, but comfortable. The TV was a 13 inch tube style, but I didn’t go to Hermann to watch TV, that was just a bonus in my mind.(If you are watching TV for most of your stay, then maybe you shouldn’t be in Hermann) The breakfast was just fine as well. First day was a delicious plate of eggs, bacon, sausage, toast, french toast casserole and orange slices. The second day was an ample helping of eggs, bacon and orange slices. They also had a whole spread of additional toast, cereal, milk, OJ, coffee, oatmeal and more. If I wanted a catered style breakfast with B&B undertones I would have booked a B&B. I wanted a more home town version of «Holiday Inn Express», and that’s what I found. More than satisfied at a reasonable cost. When we go back to Hermann, we will definitely stay in the same place. No reason to test the waters anywhere else if you already found what you were looking for.

Room was clean. If you like to spend $ 155 a night for a room that has no closet or wardrobe to hang clothes and has a 13 inch tube TV and a bed with pillows from Dollar General then this is a place you will like. They do not cater to the Katy Trail bikers. No place to store bikes other than our already cramped room. No access to food or drinks until 9:00 a.m., which is WAY too late for bikers hitting the trails. Very disappointed for the money!

My stay at Wine Valley Inn had its problems. The AC did not work properly in the bedroom of our suite. This issue was promptly and appropriately handled by the staff as they had us move to a comparable room. Following an evening of dinner and wine, my girlfriend and I decided to use the jacuzzi tub for two that was located in the room. After a few minutes, we noticed black filth(hair and dirt) floating on the surface. We got out, took a shower and got over the fact that we had x years of other people’s filth on us. After draining the tub the filth was substantial enough to cover the sides of the tub. We left it there to promote corrective action. We got in the squeaky and firm bed and fell asleep. The breakfast was greasy but fair to me however, we blame it for making my girlfriend throw up on the way home. In all, our trip to Hermann was fun despite the problems with the room. We left a comment card listing the issue w the tub but received no feedback or appropriate reimbursement. I would not stay there again. It is not a true B and B as the staff is not on site. I thought that the reception desk attendant smoking out front when I pulled up was tacky too.

If you are looking for a romantic getaway in Herman complete with cozy touches and welcoming furnishings, THISISNOTIT. I suggest choosing one of a plethora of B&Bs in the area that are more homey — this place is about at welcoming as a Super8. I tried to like because my husband booked it for a romantic stay, but from the only plus was a separate bedroom from the living room(which was rather cave-like with no windows). I can’t speak to the suite rooms — we just got the standard room in the main hotel. At $ 140/night, I expected something a bit nice, but it really was just basic like a hotel room, which I guess was expected since it’s an «inn» and not a B&B. On top of that, we had to catch a train around 11 the next morning, but when we got down to breakfast(which was served to all guests at 9am with no options for earlier dining) and were informed that it was going to be late because of missing staff. I don’t have trouble giving them a concession for unforeseen events but had such an event NEVER been encountered before? They acted like they had no idea how to efficiently serve people… no water, horribly coffee, no hot water for tea, juice from a frozen concentrate. Plus we had to wait an additional hour(until 10am) to finally get served our food! It was unacceptable, especially for the price. I won’t be going back and I wouldn’t recommend it for others.

Good location for walking. Suites are large, well appointed, clean and mostly quiet(see later). Elevator(yes!) & two staircases. Parking is limited; street mostly. Reception was prompt. Breakfast opens at 9AM and is expeditious. Coffee not a plus. Two buildings w/patio between form this business. Some«guests» thought imbibing by the firepit at 3AM, using their pickup truck radio for party-type listening was fun. By 4:30AM my patience expired. Be aware — owner/managers are not on-site. Had the night been quiet this would be a 5 star for me.

This place is great for the price, location and privacy. The rooms are decorated like you would imagine a small town B&B to be, but the inn itself has more of a hotel feel because it’s in a large building. The innkeepers do not live on site so you don’t feel like you’re having to compromise your personal space. They have a very nice touch of giving you a free bottle of wine with two souvenir glasses when you check into your room. The breakfast is pretty good, but nothing exceptional. I will say that the website does not do the rooms justice. We have taken friends with us to Hermann and they were suprised that the rooms were much bigger and nicer than they expected. The Hermann Trolley will pick you up and drop you off right outside the Wine Valley Inn gift shop. All in all a GREAT option for Hermann Lodging.
