Went here for lunch on a Saturday, we went to surprise spyder who works there, but we were surprised by the food! Pretty good for a tiki hut!

My friend took me here for my birthday lunch today! Everything was so delicious and our server was great. All that and a great view too… It was wonderful! Conch fritters, calamari and shrimp were all soooo good. Look forward to returning soon!

Fantastic find thanks to Unilocal! This place is off the beaten path — turn into the dry dock and it is in back on the left. The lobster bisque was creamy, rich, flavorful and loaded with meat! The lobster roll was so full of succulent lobster that there not room for another piece! Home cut fries and slaw rounded out the plate. All were EXCELLENT! The service at this small, very nice place right on the water, couldn’t have been better! Will definitely go out of my way to come back here.

Excellent food by the water. We were a group of 4 and tried a little bit of everything. We had is calamari, artichoke and spinach raccoons, gulf shrimp with onion rings, fish tacos, and shrimp and scallops skewers. Each entrée came with large seasoned fries except the one that I mentioned was under the rings that I ordered especially. Not to mention you also get a side of coleslaw. This is a great little hidden spot that many wouldn’t know about unless you read about it on this app. It is hidden far back from the street so you have to look real close for the sign. This is a real gem and a great place to eat. I will definitely be back. If you love Seafood you’ll love this spot.

An awesome find by the water! Best lobster roll and fish tacos we’ve had. Would never know this gem exists unless you’re a local or a Unilocaler. It’s barely visible from the road with a small sign that’s dominated by a large dry dock. The tiny restaurant/tiki bar was more than half full at 4 pm on a Monday with familiar diners and bar patrons, so it appears to be a local favorite. There was only one woman serving all six tables and the bar flies. The make shift kitchen appeared to be a food truck just adjacent to the restaurant and the two guys running it were also doing a great job whipping up the baskets of food. The food was fantastic! The lobster roll was loaded with fresh tender lobster and not dry at all. The fish tacos were a nice portion of fish, seared or grilled perfectly on a huge scoop of tangy sauce. They even grilled my kid’s hot dog and bun. The lobster bisque was good and full of meat. It needed a little more flavor in my opinion, so I dropped some hot sauce in there and it took it from good to perfect. So glad we found this spot. Have had lobster rolls and fish tacos numerous times and this place serves up the best. Just hope they recycle. Everything is served in or on disposables.

I will not be back, only for drinks & atomphere. The food is over priced, slow service, just very generic. Food is nothing special either… disappointed

If you are looking for an authentic Boston Lobster Roll sandwich, this is the place. We stopped for lunch to try their speciality and were not disappointed. We also tried their Fish Tacos that were to die for. This is a great little outdoor Tiki Bar at the Marina in Hernando Beach, perfect for watching boats and meeting the locals. The owner Mark is from Boston, and he knows how to make the real deal. Nikki our server was awesome and over the top helpful on menu suggestions. We are really looking forward to having lunch there again next Wednesday and trying their Crab Cakes and Conch Fritters. You can also bring your dog! Live music on the deck on Sunday afternoons, watching the sunset… it just does not get any better. Great place to watch sports as well with a big screen TV right over the bar. Bön a Petit’

We stopped here to eat some food and watch a soccer match after spending the day kayaking the river. The staff were super friendly and put the game on for us without any problems. They were actually closing soon but slowed us to stay and watch the end, which was extremely nice. The food was good. The lobster bisque was VERY good. Most options were fried, but with good flavor. The fish tacos were grilled haddock which was unusual but tasty. The price was very reasonable and the waterfront setting made for a pretty sunset dinner sitting outside. If I’m back in the area I wouldn’t hesitate to come back.

Like others said: You have to be careful or you will miss the turn. It’s located in the marina itself. Food is prepared in a trailer off to the side of a large tiki hut with a deck. There is a bar area and the picnic tables to eat at. The service was excellent. Our group had the steak, chicken nuggets, and the fish ‘n fries. For coming from a food truck-it was pretty awesome. It’s a little out of the way so I don’t plan to return, but if I lived close by or was boating nearby, I would stop in again. It’s a really casual dining experience(paper cups, plasticware, etc) and we did enjoy it.

My sister and I wanted our usual lunch by the water. This little tiki hut is around the corner from our house and last year it was OK but I was not overly impressed. That has changed. First the service was great: warm, friendly and knowledgeable. The food has improved dramatically. Sis got the lobster bisque and grouper bites and I got the cheese burger with bacon. We cleaned our plates. The prices were reasonable and the view of canal charming. Will go back soon when I do not have to work so I can have one of their IPAs.

This place is a hidden jewel along the water. Boats dock and folks can have a great lunch. Bottled beer and wine only, no liquor but that’s fine. Gotta have fish and chips, by far one of the best I’ve ever had. Moist and not overly greasy, served with steak fries with seasoned salt. If you don’t want seafood, hamburgers are also on the menu. There is a nice open patio long the water to watch boats float along. If it is windy, you can also sit inside an enclosed patio area. There is bench picnic seating for large groups and tables for four. I imagine this place gets busy right at lunch, but we came later at 2pm on a sunny Saturday and sat right away. Good service and a relaxing atmosphere make this a must try if you are in the area.

Local here. I’m always looking for places to bring my out of town visitors, and it’s winter so they’re coming in droves. I brought some friends here on a Saturday night and I wish I could say I loved it. The atmosphere is wonderful, the location is great, and the view of sunset is enchanting. Now to get to the food and service: it took awhile for a waitress to notice us, and she doesn’t seem real thrilled to be waiting on our table. My companion wanted coffee, and that just wasn’t happening. She asked for water and they brought her a bottle. While there is no beer on tap, they do have Yuengling, which is the common denominator beach bars all over Florida. The menu is simple consisting of fried and grilled seafood items. What’s unusual is they do have some New England favorites, like fried whole belly clams. I grew up near Boston and these were a staple of my childhood. We ordered a grouper sandwich, a fried clam appetizer, and fried shrimp. The clams came and they were perfect: big fat chewy clams with a wonderful seafood flavor. the grouper sandwich was good I didn’t taste it so I’m not sure about the consistency but my companion was certainly pleased. The shrimp however, were not the real deal. Justin C was all wrong and they didn’t have crunchy tails on them. I gotta say that this marina shares a dock with shrimp boats that get fresh gulf shrimp everyday. But this was not the product that was fried and presented to us, unfortunately. I don’t know if they were processed or frozen but you could drive a golf ball into the Gulf from here and yet the shrimp were not fresh. Disappointing. Also my companions are very environmentally conscious and while everything here is served in disposable plates and cups, I can understand that a small operation does not need to deal with dishwashers and silverware. However, they could make better choices in their disposables, such as paper plates and paper cups. After all this is an extremely environmentally sensitive area that’s really a by you on the Gulf. It would be far more responsible to use biodegradable consumables like many other restaurants aware of the sensitivity of the environment and their clients . All in all I would go back again because to sit on the dock drinking a beer chewing on really good clams, and watching sunset is the essence all of the Florida experience, and this restaurant delivers that. I just wish that they would emphasize the freshness and quality of the local seafood it, and this place would be perfect.

Little gem! When we pulled up and we were skeptical because it’s a tiny place in the marina but we looked at the menu and decided to give it a try and I’m glad we did. First we had the conch fritters, we come from south Florida and haven’t found any that come close up here until now. Actually they may have been better, full of flavor. We also ordered the fish dip, it was good but I kinda wish we went for the crab cakes. My husband had the platter with scallops shrimp grouper, clams and something else, I don’t love fried seafood so I didn’t pay attention but he does and he loved it. I went for the lobster roll it was not too pricey at $ 15, It was delicious but very small. Simple sweet fresh lobster with mayo served it on a toasted bun, which made is so much better than ones I’ve had in a soft bun. Kids ate the typical burger and hot dog, with no kids menu paying $ 9 for burger is a lot but it was full size and my daughter enjoyed it. The Nathan’s hot dog for $ 4 was the best deal. We didn’t drink tonight because we had the kids but they had a full bar in the tiki hut. The service was great. Nikki served us with a smile and very quickly. Overall we loved it and are glad we chose to stop and give it a shot. The view from the deck was a beautiful bonus for a fresh seafood dinner.

Best sea scallops in the area. A good place to go for a consistently good lunch. Sometimes there’s music. Can’t beat the outdoor ambience!

First of all, the food was outstanding! My wife and I both had fish tacos that rivaled those of Whiskey Joe’s. Terrific flavor on the fish and the sauce was frickin wicked awesome! My youngest had Buffalo Shrimp that were very tasty. The Teenager had the platter of Clams, Scallops, and shrimp which he raved over and over about while he devoured them. Bottled beer only, which we chose Landsharks as they seem to go so well with being near the water. The food was again, OUTSTANDING!

I expect to see this place on The Food Channel one of these days. A tiki hut for a dining room and a food truck for a kitchen that turns out some really good seafood. The fish tacos were great and came with a good cole slaw and either onion rings(for a buck more) or fries. Both were good. Great place to mix with the locals and have a tasty, reasonable meal.

I wish I could teleport to this outdoor beer and grill spot on cold San Francisco days. We found this through trusty Unilocal. And, I would say we had the best fried clams I’ve had in quite sometime. They tasting like fried bits of the ocean. So salty and lip smackingly delicious. My girlfriend had the fish tacos and said that the fish was cooked perfectly. We did send back some raw oysters on the half shell. Raw oysters need to be on the smaller side and super fresh. There’s no in between with these raw snacks. These just were not up to par. But, they took them right back which I appreciate. The space is just a roof, a bar and a modern trailer cookin up some awesome seafood favorites. You can watch the water, have a cold brew and munch on some great fresh fish here at the Tropical Grille.

I’m going to come out and say it. For living so close to the Gulf we do lack quality places to sit outside, enjoy a beer as the sun sets and get some good, fresh seafood. It’s something that has bugged me for a while, so I was glad to hear of a new place that opened in Hernando beach about a month ago called Hernando Beach Tropical Grille. They promise a great Florida experience where you can sit outside either under the tiki hut or under the sun and have your beer and seafood without breaking the bank. I chose my Wifes birthday as the time to experiment with the new place(which in hindsight could have been a problem) and left there 2 hours later glad that I did. As we pulled up to the restaurant it was exactly as was described to me. It’s a tiki hut with a deck out back overlooking the water. It’s «no frills» and that’s just fine with me. I love those types of places because, if they are busy, you know the food is the reason behind it. The menu is on a whiteboard that they bring table side to you. They have bottled beer and wine. So far so good. The vibe is great. It’s laid back, casual. Before I even get into the food, let me say the staff are exceptional. They were over to our table INSTANTLY and they came back at least 12 times in the time we were there. It was one of the better customer service experiences I can remember in a long time. We ordered the whole belly Ipswich clams for an appetizer on the advice of a guy at the next table. Then we had the fish tacos and lobster roll to split. I love clams, I love them steamed, fried, with pasta. I just love them. These are among the best that I have had fried. If you haven’t had whole belly clams(and I hadn’t) then you are missing out. Don’t be put off by the look of them, they are meaty and DELICIOUS. Served with the homemade sauce they set the tone for the rest of the meal. I would go back for these alone. The fish tacos were the same, delicious and full of flavor. These are another must try item although(very minor criticism) they could have just a little more cheese etc to fill them out a little. But don’t be fooled, these are good tacos and another item I will be thinking about this week as my stomach rumbles away. Then the lobster roll… The clue is in the name. It is a roll with lobster in it. Nothing else. No filler. Just delicious chunks of fresh lobster and a little mayo. It’s perfect, there is nothing to detract from the flavor of the lobster, no attempts to mask it. If you like lobster then this is the place to go get a lobster roll. All things told, I can’t remember going to another place that had me so excited about going back there again so soon. No, it’s not fine dining, and they are still ironing out a few minor kinks. But the service and food really leave an impressions. It’s exactly what the beach area needs and I am sure they will be a great success. I certainly hope so…
