The wait was long and only 2 people waking the line. The tortillas were not fresh, I had the tacos and the tortillas were hard. But the most disappointing was that the vanilla and coconut soda enhancers were empty

Stop being such an awful location. Every time I go here there is something wrong with my food. There’s either something missing, a piece of hair in my food, or some gritty substance that makes me feel like I’m chewing on rocks and sand. Awful. Awful. Awful. Worst Café Rio I’ve ever been too. Went twice thinking maybe I was there on an off night. Nope, second time was worse! There were three people in front of me and it took 45 mins to get two salads. Ridiculous. Won’t be going back. I’d give zero stars if possible.

Totally Needs Improvement, you Herriman location. I have the same experience with other reviewers & friends, that when they order the food on the phone To-Go. You get there on time for pick-up & the food is not ready. All of us are victims of waiting 45 minutes for orders to pick-up, when we call in ahead of time. This is crazy & madness. The servers are slower than snails & turtles. While a long anaconda line piles up all the way outside the building. Replace the Manager. Customer service is very terrible & again super duper slow service. This place does not even deserve 1 star. Good luck…

Slow service. Not sure why this place makes me hate café rio. Ordering take out is a joke. Tried to order flour tortilla instead of corn and she did not understand what flour tortilla was. I had to repeat the order 5 times and she still could not get it right. I finally hung up. All I ordered was 2 items and she could not get it. I’ve realized that all the reviews in Herriman have got only 2 stars. What’s up with kids and management these days? Why haven’t they stepped up and fixed this problem? You can’t just hire anyone you have to hire the best. Just because they applied does not mean you should hire anyone. Choose your employees wisely.

WHY? Why do I keep giving this location a second… third…fourth chance??? My husband and I love Café Rio and every location we’ve been to seems to understand how good customer service works — every location EXCEPT Herriman. Trust me, it’s worth taking the time to drive to the South Jordan location because by the time you actually get your food at the Herriman Café Rio you could be taking your last bite at the South Jordan. Let me paint you a pretty picture of how tonight’s service went. I used the online services for a take out order and selected the 7:00pm pick up time. I made the order ASSIMPLE as possible, because in my past experiences anytime I’ve asked for«no chips» or «no rice» etc., I get something way off from what was actually ordered. Anyways, back to tonight… my husband and I got there at 6:55pm walked inside, only to be the 10th person in the take out line. There is one girl working the take out line while there are numerous employees just standing around. To say customers in the take out line were frustrated is beyond an understatement. By the time 7:30 rolled around(mind you — already thirty minutes past the pick up time) we watched customers walk in, order and receive their food, eat, and leave. Finally, a customer(also waiting in the take out line) confronted the staff about the unacceptable service and expressed all the frustration that we were all discussing and thinking. She asked to speak with the manager and the employee’s response was, «it’s not my fault everybody decided to get take out». There wasn’t a single customer in that location tonight that was the not frustrated with the extremely poor service. Once we finally got our food we had to warm it up in the oven because everything was cold. I believe its common sense(in any line of employment) that when your particular job/duty is slow and you see your team member overwhelmed with customers you help each other out! Be a team! There was absolutely no communication, team work, and management displayed tonight. This is not the first time we’ve received this kind of service at this location. In fact, I honestly can’t think of a single experience where the service and food have been anything but poor… which leads me back to my first question — why!?! Why do we keep going back! We keep convincing ourselves that«it’ll be better this time» to save us time driving to South Jordan. Yet, time and time again its nothing but a huge disappointment. I’ve previously written Café Rio’s corporate office about this particular location in hopes that it will provide constructive feedback. However, if anything the staff turn over, service, and food continues to decline. Its obvious that the manager and staff need to shadow other locations to obtain the appropriate training. I think it’s safe to say that everyone who attempted to get take out tonight will not be returning to this location. I promise, go to Café Rio in South Jordan and thank me later!

Overall, the food at this location is pretty much on par with the rest of Café Rio. However, I have had to wait standing in front of the tortilla grill for 20+ mins! We ran to café Rio because it would be faster than making dinner at home, but it took over an hour to get food home and we were missing the dressing for a salad. The kids who work here don’t seem to have a great work ethic.

Arrived at 9:35PM, when my party walked in a teenage employee yelled across the restaurant«we’re closed!» Web site says 10PM is closing time so does the sign in the door, and the door is unlocked. When asked about that, the kid changes his story to say that the«ran out of some items». He never bothered to ask what we were ordering so unless they ran out of EVERYTHING how would he know that he couldn’t make our food. In any case, I’ll never go back and management should work to buy enough product to serve customers and hire employees that know the first thing about customer service.

I brought some out-of-town family members here because they can’t get it where they’re from. We arrive 25 minutes before closing(at 9:25), according to the website AND the sign on the door. Immediately, the employees started shouting that they’re already closed. When asked why, their excuse was they close at 9:00. Of course, we called them on their bluff and stated that the Web and the door both say 10:00, at which point their excuse changed to having run out of «a lot» of stuff. They had no idea what we wanted to order, but I guess they just decide to do whatever they want on a Sunday evening. I live two blocks away from this place. I’ll be sure – if I ever actually feel the need to go to this chain again – to travel well out my way to avoid this place.

Seriously Café Rio? Can you please get rid of almost ALL the people that work here and find some who move faster than a snail’s pace? I love Café Rio. I go there often. I feel like I could hop behind the counter and whip up 10 meals in the time it takes for me to place my order here. I HATE this location!!! On top of the incredibly slow service, make sure to check your to go order. Can’t tell you how many times my husband has come home missing things(come on husband, check the bag!!). But really, get it right workers, it’s not that hard. UGHHHHH! like I said. Fire everyone and hire capable people please!!! Yes I’m hangry right now. My husband went to get food almost an hour ago and has finally given up on café rio since the line is so long and not. moving. I get when it’s busy and you have to wait. But when the line isn’t even moving and everyone isn’t trying to go as fast as possible there is no excuse!!!

EDIT12÷7÷15: I’m taking a star off and I think three is on the generous side now. We’ve been a few times over the last couple months. On the whole the food is still pretty good. But there is a black hole of no charm at this place. The other night, we waited foreeeeever for the lady to make our food, standing at the front of a long line with a single man in front of us. 3 workers milling about«working» and SIX more eating or standing do nothing. I joked about it and my wife joked back that we always say the same thing when we come here. My salad was noticeably not as good, to me, as they have been in the past(don’t know why). — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — - I think it’s hilarious this Café Rio has such a bad rating lol. Café Rio has always seemed synonymous with godlike. I’m not a Café Rio Groupie, but this location’s food seems more or less as good as the next(true sometimes maybe not quite as good). And consider you’re getting great food for $ 8 – 9 and that’s as much or less as Taco Bell! ;) We have not had a bad experience with anything like I see in other reviews. Only place where this one bombs is their esprit de corps, for lack of a better way of putting it. Typically Café Rio’s people have a cool vibe — they’re confident, buzzing with positive energy, etc. This location — and no offense guys, it’s a generality! — is just so sad! My wife and I have laughed about this. For example, when you order Nachos, Café Rio people always sing«Nacho Nacho man… I want to be a nacho man.»(think Village People’s Macho Man) They don’t pull it off here, at all. Instead of sort of fun and cool, it’s like a herd of cats is being drug out against their will into the street and being beat with wooden spoons. And you see employees sort of mope around, or looks confused like they don’t know what they’re doing, or care. More than once we’ve looked at each other in bemused shock and wondered, «What the heck happened to the management of this location??»

Extremely slow service and they ran out of tortillas! How the hell does a Mexican restaurant on a Saturday night not have tortillas ready? Not only did it take 45 minutes to get my food but after I got home I realized they forgot to put an order of tacos in the my to go bag, had to go back and get new ones made. Needless to say I will not be coming back to this Café Rio anytime soon.

I would give this zero stars if I could. I live by this location and have given it at least 8 chances, in hopes the next visit is better and it always fails me. The customer service at the Herriman location is absolutely terrible! It always seems like such an inconvenience to take my order. They’re SO slow. I would have waited 10 minutes in a line to the door at the at the Taylorsville or South Jordan location. I waited 45 min in a line a third of that. When their customer service isn’t terrible, they’re leaving key things out of the little brown bag… like my dressings(which has happened 3 times, thankfully I notice every time). Also, last time I went, they were out of corn tortillas, fresca, and shredded lettuce. Really?! Who is in charge of ordering? What kind of management runs this place? Or were they too lazy to make more? So irritating.

Had to bump my review down finally. The good now matches the service here. Extremely poor. Even when they admit a mistake they don’t care to fix it. When I called to let them know they messed up my order they said there wasn’t anything they could do to fix it because their corporate office wouldn’t allow them to comp a meal. Bust she said I might get a free bag of chips if I came in and talked to the manager. Ha.

I wondered how a Café Rio could have a 2-star overall review. I love Café Rio. We were 10 mins away and called in for a takeout order for one salad. The girl said it would be a 35 min wait. Wow! We just decided to get in line, and assumed it was long. When we arrived, there was no line. Maybe 3 people. Why on earth did she say it would be a 35 min wait? I’ll give more than 2 stars, as the food was good, but the phone order timing needs improvement.

Café Rio, in general, it’s usually pretty decent for the price you pay. This location has the same delicious food, but it seems that they’re customer service is sub-par. On more than one occasion, their soda fountains have had no syrup with a number of flavors. They’ve run out of certain kinds of specific meats with no intention of preparing more with several hours left until closing. So, while this is technically a Café Rio, it fails to live up to the precedent of what other locations have set. Coming here during after noon but pre dinner seems to be the only way to get your food in a timely manner, but even then there’s no guarantee. I’ve done Web orders that designate specific pickups, only to have them start the order when I arrive at the pickup counter. On one occasion I waited in line for over an hour to get my meal. This location just constantly disappoints.

Smells like poop when you walk in! Staff are friendly and food is okay… but who cares when it smells like poop?! I am not kidding. If you have no sense of smell, I recommend them. But for the rest of us with noses, may I suggest another venue? If you want Mexican, make the drive to Costa Vida just East of Bangerter Highway from here on 13400 S. Same food, no poo smell.

Get it together café Rio Herriman. Called in an order for a 730pm pickup. It’s now 810p and I’m still waiting and waiting. Put other people in front of me had a 7pm pickup and they are still here waiting just like me. The cashier was nice enough to give us a free meal card. But I’m still waiting and waiting. Sorry but i have to be honest here and give a 2star rating. The extra star was for the free meal.
