Holiday Inn Express & Suites Hiawassee

Terrific hotel. Yes, it does show its age & a few things could use a little updating, however, the room was clean and much larger than many other major brand hotels I’ve stayed at. My room came with a jet tub which came at a surprise! The wifi is fast (very helpful!) & the bathroom was clean. The lobby space is great for working and the indoor pool looked fantastic. The morning breakfast has a large variety for being a continental, and the food was hot & fresh. I would definitely make another stay at this location & would recommend to others.

This beds are like rocks & have springs poking in your back all night long. Can’t get a good nights rest here. Very upset would not recommend to anyone that wants a good nights sleep.

I love Holiday Inn Express. This is a week link in their chain. Dirty room, possibly bed bugs. It smelled. People were very nice. It’s by far the best place in town that I saw.

Given HIE is the ONLY major hotel in Hiawasee, I guess the price is fair at $ 135. This was my 2^nd choice as the Ridges Resort down the street was booked. I prefer to stay there at the same price. Hotel needs updating. Wallpaper peeling in bathroom, stains on carpet, not very clean… usual dated qualities. I let the front desk that the side door did not lock, it was never fixed during my stay. I wouldn’t think that crime is rampant in Hiawasee, but still. Bed was comfy, Climate control was hard to regulate, …visit the area often as my Daughter attends YHC. Will avoid if I can in the future.

— I was thankful the hotel had upgraded me to a sweet and accommodated my preferences. They did not comment on my Platinum status on checking in. The pool was ok but strangely graded so the water that went out would go back in before being filtered. The 3′ section was about 4″ too deep which means a big deal to a 4′ tall person like my son. The hot tub was not hot but slightly warm and didn’t push hard enough. It was laughable that this 10 – 12 person hot tub (also graded wrong so maybe part of why) was rated for 5 people per the signage. The indoor outdoor doors were a nice effect and gave a nice cooling cross breeze. The hotel showed some sign of aging and be it from humidity or time, needing some wallpaper help. Our room had a ~12″ crack in the wall with a rip in the wallpaper.

Very nice people. Elevator is overly slow. Helped with at shuttle to and from the Appalachian Trail. Clean rooms, super quiet. Love this place.
