I have always been a fan of Belk. You gotta hit them up with sales and sign up for the mailers so you can get coupons. I usually like the discounted clothes and they have a range of clothes from cheaper to really nice. The only down fall is they always seem to have just a handful of people working and could always use more, especially during peak times.

Maybe it’s a sign of the times, but the only time I find myself in a Belk’s, or any other anchor store for that matter, is when I’m walking through to get to the main mall. The store is bright and clean. Where I entered there was a really nice shoe display. Prices seemed a little high, but sale prices were decent. For a Friday, there didn’t seem to be a whole lot of foot traffic. A-Okay

I always have a hard time finding the men’s department, because I find the store layout to be non-intuitive. My path reminds me of the Billy Preston song, «Will It Go Round in Circles?» The men’s clothing selection is comprised of quality brands such as: Ralph Lauren. Tommy Bahama. Izod. Tommy Hilfiger. Etc. Good stuff, but expensive. Thank goodness there are frequent sales, because I don’t like spending $ 95 + tax for a Ralph Lauren shirt. And while I’m on the subject,… {in my best Jerry Seinfeld voice} «Why are Nautica baseball caps priced at $ 25, when they are made in China, and available on eBay for $ 10 with free shipping all the way from China?» George Costanza: «It’s a rip off I tell ‘ya. They’re all out to get us!» Kramer: «Gigigigigia!» The employees are nice, and I know that one or two of the older ladies have been there their entire adult life — decades. To say that they know what they’re doing is an understatement. If there’s a discount price… they’ll find it for you. They are retail pros! PS: I really like the free covered parking garage on the southeast side of the building. It’s wonderful returning to a cool car in the Summertime. It’s the little things that matter.
