Kickback Jack’s

Don’t waste your money here… walk next door to Mellow Mushroom and have a great meal. The food at this place is mediocre at best. Service was slow and the waitress we had looked like she was high. When she brought the food out, she asked us if we needed boxes! WTF?
Pizza was greasy and the cheese steak was lousy.

Ate there last night and they did have an attentive staff, but that where it ends. I ordered a Maker’s Mark on the rocks and was served A lesser bourbon. I immediately told the server that the color was wrong and that it was probably Jack. She brought the manager over which wasn’t helpful. Their hottest wings were Habanero bbq, they barely had any burn. I barely felt the heat on my lips. The Caesar salad was ok at best. I’ll never go back after this experience.

Server, I believe Marissa was great. Food wasn’t the cheapest but want the most expensive in comparison either. Wings were actually pretty decent. But the server is what made the visit.

The atmosphere is fun and their appetizers are great. They have great pasta too. The service is pretty meh and the wait staff isn’t the friendliest. I’ll be bag for beer and appetizers but I would never make it a big outing

Horrible service. I don’t think I’ve ever experienced such bad service at a restaurant before. The management was rude to our group, the waitress was very forgetful, and getting our food was a joke. I had been excited to try a new place, but I will never be back, and I’m pretty sure everyone else in our group feels the same way.

Went on a Sunday afternoon to hear Mitch play. Inside the restaurant was dead and there were 5 – 6 servers standing at the host stand. Outside on the patio was packed (Mitch draws a great crowd!) but only one or two servers working the area. (Hint: add more servers to the busy area when the dining room is empty and patio is full!)
Ordered two Bud Lights — server proceeded to tell is the other beer specials before coming back to the fact that the Bud Lights that we ordered were on special as well. A full 15 minutes later the server returned to take our order — still didn’t have drinks!
Ordered the Tailgater appetizer, a burger, and a rib/​shrimp combo.
Beers finally arrived (20 minutes after being ordered.
Ten minutes later, our appetizer arrived along with our entrees.
Appetizer combo was ok — nothing special. Mozzarella sticks and poppers were the frozen variety, chicken tenders burnt and under breaded. Pickles were chips so 2x more breading than pickle.
Burger was mediocre at best — chili had no flavor. Fries on both plates were under-​rinsed (hand cut so ya have to get rid of that starch!) and dark brown and all fried items tasted of dirty fryer oil.
All in all, I would go back to hear the music and have a few drinks but will pass on food.

Wow, for such a busy place it sure is terrible. It was a Friday night so I understand that it’s busy. So we wait about 20 to 30 minutes for a table which is reasonable. They call us up to take us to a table. We follow the hostess to a table that is maybe big enough for 1 person to sit at, then she proceeds to tell us we could wait for a bigger table (which we did) and that we would be the next to get one… Why wouldn’t you just explain that instead of walking us all the was across the resturant? The waitress was ok, a little annoying trying to push products. A couple items ok, but not half the menu. Our side salads were ok, nothing special and have definitely had much better. What pissed me off the most was my entrée. It was horrible. I got the steak and ribs. Not only was my steak overcooked which grinds my gears (I like a medium steak and not a bit more done than that) but it had a funny taste, like it was old. The ribs were not much better. They were dry and tough. I see why the give you a rack of ribs when most places only give ½ racks because there is no meat on their ribs at all. The fries where fresh cut and decent. My wife had a burger, she told me it was ok but nothing special.
I understand this is a sports bar and grill. So it’s to be expected that it will be a loud place. But it is rediculous how loud they have the tvs in this place. They were so loud that my wife and I had to yell at each other to hear what the other was saying. Turn them down some, we don’t need to go deaf over a basketball game. One of the managers was near our table almost the whole time as it was near their seating chart and the hostess stand. He was rather annoying. Often loud with staff trying to coach them, he seemed like he was way to pumped up which was off putting. Also, he just about bumped into the back of my wife when he was walking by trying to look at one of the tvs.
Overall, unless you are wanting to catch a game with your buddies and grab a beer, steer clear of this place. This food flat out sucks and the atmosphere sucks unless you want to party and scream your head off.

No stars would be the best I would give. this was a waste of money never will I go back. For started we got the tailgator appetizers chicken strips breading was over cooked and tasted burnt. Cheese sticks were blah I had tasted better cheese sticks from the frozen isle at the market. Fried pickles and the stuffed jalapeños were decent. For the main course I ordered steak and ribs I asked for my steak medium well .got it well done. steak was super dry no pink in it. The fries are ugly and salty looked like they were reheated. ribs were nothing to be impressed about ended up taking ¾ of my meal home because I couldn’t stand eating it. The left overs will probably end up in the trash as I can’t even imagine how bad they will taste reheated. The star is for the mediocre service.

We got seated fast service was okay but the food was bad steak was dry as hard as well as very salty. For the price they charge u would think the food would be better.

A good place to go and chill with friends and grab a few drinks. I don’t care too much about the food. It’s not the best I’ve ever had. The waitress are really nice and there are plenty of seatings. If you’re looking for a place to catch up with some friends and have a few drinks then this would be the place for you. By the way, the wings isn’t all that great, neither is the ribs.

The only positive thing I can really say about the restaurant is that we didn’t have to wait long to get a table. The restaurant was bust as it was 6:00PM on a Sat night. We were seated and had our drink orders taken promptly. We ordered loaded cheese fries as an appetizer and they arrived before my drink did. That makes sense seeing as though the loaded cheese fries were Luke warm and tasteless. At our table, we ordered a chicken ‘cheese steak’ sandwich, 3 burgers and a pizza. Of the order, 2 of the burgers were wrong. The pizza was mediocre at best and the chicken ‘cheese steak’ sandwich was fairly tasteless. This was my first visit to this restaurant and will most certainly be my last. What a shame…

We did not like the food, the atmosphere, the menu, or our waitress. I can’t believe they replaced Tripps with chicken wings and burgers. So sad we only have a couple of restaurants in Hickory worth eating at… we honestly ALMOST every weekend go to another town to eat because we have 90% chains here. If you like the multi TV thing and wings this is your place. Not a fan.

The ketchup was good, lots of tv’s. Fried pickles nothing but burnt dough. Buffalo chicken wrap terrible.

A generous 3 stars — Good food, mediocre service. The waitstaff came by often to ask if everything was okay or if we needed anything, but didn’t stop long enough for us to answer, so it required about 5 separate trips to get everything we needed. Forgot our drinks and had to wait an extra 10 minutes for our kid’s food after the entrees arrived. As a point of redemption, the seasoning on the fries was delicious.

If your looking for a place to go have some cold ones and watch the game its a cool place to chill. The food is just okay. I do like the atmosphere… waitresses and bartenders are friendly.

Order the Cajun chicken pasta, not the best choice. Was just nothing very gourmet, savory, or substantially satisfying. I think people forget it’s a bar– and I think that is where it’s quality falls. «Bar food», nothing great. If you go to kickback jacks looking for Applebee’s or Chili’s experience you’ll be sorely disappointed. But if you’re going out for drinks and/​or to watch the game– you’ll get what you’re looking for.

We liked their wings & salad. I’d return. We took seats at the end of the bar & it was a little quieter. Beer was cold.

*****HAIR IN FOOD!!! HAIR IN BURGER THAT WAS SENT BACK! Then found another hair in salad!!! Wouldn’t prepare for party of 16, sent a waitress who had been working for 1 week to do a party of 16!

I had the steak and ribs. Steak was over cooked and ribs weren’t the best. Mac and cheese was VERY DISAPPOINTING, possibly the worse I’ve ever had. Daily specials on drinks were good. Probably won’t be going back.

I was pretty satisfied with my 1^st experience at KickBack Jack’s…
They initially told us there would be a 45 minute wait for a part of 4, but we were seated after about 20 minutes.
We ordered the Chips Trio– and the guacamole and salsa were really good. The cheese was good but wasn’t very warm.
For my meal I had the Asian Salad– It was excellent! I’d definitely go back for that salad alone!
There are nearly 60 televisions! So lots going on, very noisy, perfect for game night. And all the staff was friendly– I will certainly go back and try out another menu item!
