Five Guys Burgers & Fries

There is NOTHING better than one of their bacon cheese burger! The fries are always fresh, the burgers to perfection, and the staff friendly! My son is a picky eater but will ALWAYS dive into their grilled cheese. One large fries serves my entire family and then some. The restaurant is always clean as are the restrooms. The music is damn fine too! A little more expensive than your average burger joint but SOOOOO worth it!

I’ve eaten at Five Guys in Tampa and other cities before so I knew what to expect. This was no exception. Same great burgers and fries. The service was fast.

I think this place has some of the best burgers in town and the service is pretty quick. The portions are large and the fries are very good as well. Clean and comfortable. Personally I thought their prices are much higher than the other places around town but its do-​able. I would revisit

Best burger place in the area! We love 5 guys. Tip: my husband and I can share a small fry and still have fries left so don’t order fries for everyone just share, there’s plenty.

Simple menu, always consistent, always hot and fresh. Love the beverage machines where you can flavor your own soda. Tried one of the new shakes. …simply delicious! Incredibly thick! Staff is always pleasant and friendly. Just an a all-​around great place for a great burger.

The Five Guys in Hickory is perpetually super crowded at lunch and dinner, but at 8:30 p.m. you’ll have the place to yourself.
I knew this evening’s visit was going to be great when: (a) I parked at the front door, but more importantly (b) I heard Stevie Ray Vaughn music playing as I walked toward the entrance. Love me some SRV. Double good Karma !!
Since I was the only customer, the cook had the time to prepare my order unhurried. He hooked me up by creating an EXcellent double bacon cheeseburger masterpiece.
I LOVE Five Guys double bacon cheeseburger with all the ooey, gooey, extra melted cheese. A-​1 sauce. Mayo. Lettuce. Tomato. Onions. Pickle. SUPERB!
I LOVE salted in the shell peanuts. Having an unlimited, help yourself «appetizer» box is just incredible.
(But for $ 10 a burger… this is an extra that they can well afford. In reality, we’re paying for it in the price.)
I LOVE that this restaurant is always immaculate, with an employee constantly cleaning the dining area. Kudos to the franchise owner for maintaining this level of excellence!
I LOVE the «Star Trek» drink dispenser, the darned thing is just plain COOL.
Here’s a general tip for everyone… a double cheeseburger, fries, and soda will run you $ 15.
Five Guys has the best fast food burger in Hickory. There are locally owned, small family diners that have bigger, better, and less expensive burgers — but very few are tastier.

Friendly and upbeat service behind the counter. The food is well prepared and what you would expect from a higher tier fast food chain.

I agree with other reviewers, that over-​all, Five Guys is not better than other fast food.
I think some rave as they do, because fresh-​cut fries are really just that good. They prove that you can sell about anything, just for that reason.
I mark them a bit lower than my 4 – 5 star fan rating, since as others have said, they are serving soggy food. I have traveled around and eaten at several of their locations, and 9 of 10 times, the fries are soggy.
Being determined, as I am, I always order my fries specifically with the «special instructions,» of «WELL DONE,» and 9 of 10 of those times, the fries still come out soggy, but then I stand and say, «um, I ordered these well done.» They apologize, and then remake them, and THEN they come out nice and hot and crispy.
Five Guys corporate should probably hear from me. Maybe when I get my other stuff done, some day I’ll pick up a phone.
I do like that they have heard consumers wishes about naked burgers. They (in the past 2 years) have started offering 2 bunless options: lettuce wrap, or «bowl» style. Since I don’t eat the bun, I don’t have to be disappointed with a soggy burger, but if I did, I would be, too.

We like this place a lot for a good hamburger and hotdog in Hickory. We usually splurge for the bacon hotdog and bacon cheeseburger. Oh so good!

The feel good food! This place had a good number of people there, so i’m sure they would agree.
Juicy burger served up with I sided of fries. Don’t be fooled by the term «little burger,» that just means one patty. Yet, I got the regular (TWO patties). Vinegar for the fries, and out the door.

As fast food burgers go, this is as good as it gets. Yep, it costs more than a trip to any of the other places, but if it is burgers you want, you can’t go wrong here. Staff is always friendly and efficient. I have NEVER had an incorrect order. The only downsides: the music tends to be somewhat loud, making a conversation difficult, and the thermostat tends to run to the cold side (according to the women in my family). Although this review is for the Hickory, NC location, you can apply it to any of the locations. They are the most consistently good restaurant chain I know of.

Standard Five Guys i.e. the highest quality value burger commercially available. Completely customizable toppings. No frills.

I like it here very much! The food is made to order, and I love that! It doesn’t bother me that I have to wait, it’s worth it. I get my burger done to the 9’s baby, and it’s always different every time I go. The cajun fries are good, and you also have a variety of refreshments. There’s also free peanuts to boot! Yeah, I’m good with this place!

Ambience: They had a short wall inside the restaurant made up of sacks of potatoes. Weird.

Went to Five Guys today. Ordered a Little Burger w/​o grilled onions and got them anyway. Didn’t detract from the taste but this time just didn’t want grilled onions. Daughter, wife, and I were satisfied with the burgers and fries (THE BEST FRIES ON THE MARKET!!!)

Visiting NC this week. Coming from South Jersey, I am very familiar with Five Guys as they seem to be opening stores on every corner lately in South Jersey! I could be wrong but this location in Hickory, NC seems to be the only Five Guys in the area and it does not disappoint!
The location was super busy but the crew handled it efficiently and in a friendly manner. Quality of the food was outstanding. I asked for extra jalapeños and I certainly got them! This was a refreshing contrast from South Jersey locations that I have visited where «extra» means 3 or 4 jalapeño slices. We ordered 7 burgers and the crew forgot one. Luckily we noticed the missing burger before leaving with our bag (this was a takeout order). The staff was apologetic and offered some free drinks to compensate for the oversight.
Overall the food was great. Fries were crisp and tasty and burgers were delicious. Hoping for the sake of the local NC residents that Five Guys keeps up the good work unlike in South Jersey where a proliferation of new locations has sometimes meant that quality and attention to good food has suffered a bit and been taken for granted as the chain seems more focused on growth.

Five Guys is an East Coast (I think) chain that specializes in two things: good burgers and giving you way more fries than you could ever want. They have hotdogs as well, and you can get your fries seasoned or plain. They don’t mess around with anything else.
The burgers are prepared from high-​fat beef, which makes for a very good burger that isn’t so kind to the waistline. The toppings are all included at no additional charge, but the burgers are a little high to begin with, so you’re still kindof paying for them. I always load mine up with 7 or 8 things and feel like I’m getting a good deal on a good burger. My wife gets hers with ketchup. Seems like a waste of free toppings to me, but what do I know.
A small order of friend is enough for two people, maybe 3 skinny people. A large will feed the Duggars. They have one of the nice Coke machines with a hundred different drink combinations, so that’s nice. They also have a big box of free peanuts you can snack on while waiting for your food.
This place is generally very clean, very casual, and the food has never been anything less than 4 stars. Easily my number 1 burger joint.

I had my first Five Guys’ burger not too long after the grand opening. It was a dizzying experience because the building was bursting at the seams with people wanting to check out the newest burger join in town. Thankfully, over a year later, things have slowed down a bit. It use to be impossible to get a table, and the wait for your order was upwards of 20 minutes, but now things have steadied out. Although it is still a very popular place in town, it is a lot less packed on a daily basis.
The staff is always friendly, the burgers are always juicy, and the fries are always fresh. there really isn’t much that can go wrong at a place like Five Guys. The menu is simple, and to the point. They don’t do much, but they do it well.
If it is your first time at Five Guys, heed my advice. Order a regular fries, and share them with a buddy. THEY ARE HUGE! Even 2 people will have trouble finishing the smallest order.

Awesome place to go in Hickory — burgers are awesome, location is convenient, and it’s always crowded (a good thing!)…service is quick. They are very generous with their fries… 1 fry will serve at least 3 people! Only downfall is that this place is a little pricey for fast food.

I went back to Five Guys yesterday for one specific reason. After my last review (which was good, but not perfect) I received a personal email from the manager… thanking me for the review AND offering to «tune» their fries in hopes they would be better next time I came in. Seriously impressed with staff that cares that much… I went back. Guess what. Fries were perfect. And, as usual, the burgers were FABULOUS!
Restaurant was busy and I was AMAZED at the efficient, courteous and FAST service. Cashier was friendly and patient (I was ordering with my young children in tow). The place was clean, well-​kept and was running like a well-​oiled machine. Happy to offer the highest Unilocal rating! See you soon Five Guys. :)
