I had an appointment for a full foil with Victoria. the salon was very quiet, clean, and I loved the décor. my hilights were good, she was quick and professional, and they lifted to a nice bright blonde, and I felt they were well placed. I requested to be cooler because I didn’t like the yellow in the ends of my hair, but she didn’t tone it, and I’m not entirely sure why. I’m a hairdresser myself, so I may just be picky. the blow dry was very sub-​par, however, and I left sort of looking like I just held a dryer to my head myself. all in all, for the price the service was good, though I think I’d be much happier if the finish was better executed.

The salon rivals the urban salons for décor, comfort and professionalism. My stylist, Victoria, is great. Victoria has cut my hair for the last 9 years. Give them a call and try them.

I waited a long time to review this place and probably would have forgotten about my terrible service and strangely inflated bill had they not been sending me incessant spam for months trying to get me to book again.
I have a lot of long thick hair and its a complicated double process i get but I’ve been getting this done for years and i know when someone is jacking me around. Which cloud 9 did. It took a full 90 mins longer then it should have and when i looked at my receipt when i got home i was charged for a whole process i didn’t get. I called and they sang and danced and made up excuses as to my mystery extra process charge. Terrible customer service, just awful.
I paid just much as the super famous salon in the heart of DC i went to and i had to drive way out to the sticks to go this place and they do not have the same caliber of stylists. Though my hair looked good leaving it faded super fast, the product they use just didn’t hold up. I’m not a fan, I wont be back. in fact when i drive out that way i still cringe when i have to drive by. I felt ripped off.

Jonathan is an amazing stylist and a wonderful person. I’ve been a client of his since before he even joined Cloud 9, and I couldn’t be happier there. Joyce is such a people-​person, and takes the time to get to know each of her clients personally — so refreshing in today’s go-​go-​go world… Actually, everyone at Cloud 9 makes me feel like family! I’m always greeted by name when I arrive, offered courtesy comforts like something to drink, and I really get the chance to escape and relax while I’m there. It’s my 2 hours of ‘vacation’ every 6 weeks! :-) The salon is very crisp and fresh in design — trendy and chic, yet relaxed and social all at the same time. Feels like «hanging out with friends» while you’re there. The product line is also fantastic — great care goes into choosing what they use and carry. Their choice to use the Phyto color line is very important to me — the extremely low concentration of ammonia in their color products allowed me to have my roots treated ‘guilt free’ while I was pregnant. Love the plant-​based, all natural products — very ‘green’! :-) So in a nutshell… LOVE IT! Couldn’t be happier!

What a fabulous salon! Very tastefully decorated — but the service is better than any other place I’ve been. They have reclining chairs at the shampoo bowls — and the girls do scalp massages during the shampoo — fantastic. On my first visit, I went to see Brittany and she did an amazing job. She listened to everything I said about what I wanted for my hairstyle — and then was really fun /​enjoyable to talk to. All at *very* reasonable prices. I’ll definitely be back!

3.5 stars if I could. I have to admit, I’m a bit of a hair salon whore. I never go to the same place more than a few times, if only because I dislike having conversations with strangers about the most intimate details of my life. When I saw the $ 35 Groupon deal for haircut, Phyto treatment, and champagne/​strawberries, I figure it would be a good way to try out a local salon on the cheap. I called the salon to schedule my cut and was able to receive an appointment that same week.
The salon is clean and modern and has a neat coloring bar for clients getting highlights, perms, etc. Clientele seems to consist of the housewives of HoCo (aka middle aged, upper middle class, white), so I did feel a little out of place here, but whatever. The staff was extremely nice, the shampoo chairs are awesome, and my wash was sooo relaxing. I had a haircut with Leanna, and she was good in the sense that she didn’t talk much and followed my instructions (no more than half an inch off the length, no added layers, blow dry with extra volume on top). That being said, I wasn’t impressed with my cut. Although nothing was particularly wrong with it, the ends looked sort of blunt, and I didn’t leave the salon feeling inspired.
I wish I had liked my cut more… the décor of the salon, the friendly staff, and the 40% off Bumble and Bumble products clearance (zomg) made me want to love it. Sadly, the quality of my haircut does matter to me, for obvious reasons… so 3.5 from me. I’ll take it for $ 35, but definitely not for more.

I moved to Highland around 7 months ago. One of the first things I did was search for a new salon. Cloud 9 is so close to my house it would have been crazy not to go there. I am so glad I did. The service is impeccable. The staff is very friendly and welcoming. My stylist, Brit Graf, is amazing. I always let her take control and work her magic during my appointments. I would recommend this salon to anyone!

Cloud 9 is amazing! Go see Glenda M. for a wonderful haircut blow dry, color, keratin treatment — whatever. She can do anything. I have been with her for almost 8 years! The ambiance is soothing and the salon is beautiful with top of the line products. Must go!

Cloud 9 may be off your usual route, but it is worth the extra few minutes drive for the best haircut you can find in the DC metropolitan area. Bekki used to work at Progressions in Rockville, and I followed her there knowing she gives the best cuts around. Great colorist and stylist.
