Mariners On The Hudson

The absolute worst experience ever!!! The bartender was our waitress. While she wasn’t assisting us, she was behind the bar drinking. We had to ask for napkins, and were brought small bar napkins the first time. We ordered the calamari as an appetizer. It came in a small portion in a bar basket with french fries (not worth $ 12). The food was ridiculously priced for the horrible quality. The cook has no idea what they are doing. This place is a dead dive bar. Thank God we had a gift card or we would not have went here. The drinks were good but the food was horrendous. Is there any management at this place? If not, good luck keeping your investment.

The only good thing about this restaurant is the view of the Hudson. The food was grotesque, my soda wasn’t carbonated, and they messed up my order. I don’t recommend anyone to go there. If I could give it zero I would.

Food was subpar last night. Calamari was bland, the rib eye was overcooked and chewy. Only reason they are getting two stars is the waitress was very good.

The only saving grace for this restaurant is the view. The food is terrible. My family went here for dinner and ordered the crab. The crab smelled of ammonia and was rancid. Upon informing the server, another batch of rancid crab was brought to the table. No effort was made to reimburse us for our entire meal. Upon going to the bar, I observed a server packing a to go container with her hands and at one point licked her fingers. I was horrified. We will never go back.

Exasperating dinner at Mariner’s tonight, although the location was perfect on this beautiful summer evening. We arrived on time for our 6:30 reservation and were seated promptly. Everything went down hill from there. It took 10 minutes for our waitress to stop to get our drink order and another 12 for the two beers and two waters to be served to my husband and me. We ordered a dozen steamed clams with crostini as an appetizer. Took 20 minutes to come out. Had no appetizer plates. No crostini — asked waitress and she eventually brought out one slice of bread and the plates. There were 12 shells and just 8 tiny clams. We placed dinner order when we ordered the appetizer. Dinner didn’t come until 80 minutes after we got there! I had asked for tartar sauce on the side — and there wasn’t any. Took her another 5 minutes to get it, and 10 minutes to get water refills. The people around us weren’t having any better luck.
The food was ok — but dinner was a two-​hour ordeal. We asked to see the manager but she was too busy «expediting» the orders — unsuccessfully, apparently — so she had the asst manager come over. She was very apologetic — one person called in because of a dog bite. I’m sorry, but if one no-​show throws your restaurant into utter chaos, then you need a new staffing model.
They wound up giving us our beers for free and taking 20% off the bill. We would rather have had better service. Advice: sit at the outdoor bar and get a burger.

If you want a few drinks with a great water view that is the place to go
If your looking for a meal and good service I give it a total NO

Food is edible but not great. Service, just o.k. Pricey for what you actually get.
Deck is great to sit out on when the weather is nice, great view!

This place is great for the view. But you are paying for the atmosphere. The prices are steep but the service is good. This is my go to place in the spring and early summer. Sit out on the deck. They have a decent public dock too. Free parking for patrons who come on boats. The foods decent but it helps when it’s not busy cuz you can tell when the cooks being rushed.

Disappointed experience. Service painfully slow. The food was ok, but NOT cocked to order. There was a Burger on dinner special menu. Two of our party ordered the burger special. One asked for rare and the other one medium rare. Sadly, both were served well done. The place was very crowded and short on servers. We were TOO hungry to wait for remedy or redo on the BURGERs. The other entrées were OK. Do yourself a favor; come here for a drink on the water, but skip the meal.

You will be hard pressed to find a restaurant with such unfriendly a staff. My husband and I were so completely taken back back how poor of a dining experience we received. I have no doubt the local Burger King would have even provided a better experience. Food was not good at all. It may be the single worst dining experience we have ever encountered as a couple, and we’ve been dining out for several years. Will we ever go back. No way period. So what if it’s on the water if the staff is rude and the food below sub par. Two thumbs way down.

Truthfully today’s visit (6−17−15) rates a zero. We waited more than an hour for a simple lunch (chicken chipotle sandwich).There was hardly any chipotle sauce, bun was stale and the chicken was a whole breast that wasn’t pounded out and was dry. Sadly, we didn’t have the heart to tell the chef guy what we really felt when he asked how everything was. Granted he may have been shorthanded but it was lunch and not elaborate dinner plates.

This scallops are the best! I had the bacon blue cheese appetizer for dinner. Husband had penne with scallops. Recommended by our waiter. Very very good. Could be back again if we are in the area.

If there was a way to review and give no stars I would. When a seafood restaurant can’t make a simple shrimp scampi you know you’re at the wrong place. Buttered linguini and 5 shrimp does NOT make a scampi!
Party of 13 and only 3 of us had satisfactory dishes which were the scallops and the hot wings appetizers (make sure you like black pepper because the wings are loaded with it… thankfully my son does)
The tuna and salmon dishes were inedible and sent back, the coconut curry veggies and rice noodles were dry and noodles undercooked, even when I asked for more sauce, which BTW didn’t have any coconut flavor, the noodles sucked it up and were still hard to swallow. The bacon blue scallop appetizer tasted good and was a nice size but bacon? Where was it?
I won’t comment on the price because, well, why bother you won’t go there anyway if you want good food.
Nice view from the patio and if you like the rumble of trains good because it goes right by the back.

Food was not good — ½ of our party of 10 sent our food back — don’t go and don’t get fish if you do!

If you want to have a drink in a beautiful setting then check out Mariners in Highland. If you are looking to eat forget this place. I keep giving it a try (only because of the location) and it continues to disappoint. We started with a clam chowder that was over powered by bacon you could not taste the land. I ordered shrimp scampi and it was served with 5 small shrimp over dry tasteless linguine. My husband had the lobster mac and cheese. While the Mac and cheese had flavor it was served with canned lobster meat. They did not have fresh lobster to serve at all. Apparently their order didn’t come in. They need a new trained chef and someone who knows how to run a restaurant. What a shame.

I would like the option for zero stars as one star is too generous for this place. I have a long history of patronage at this restaurant (parties, rehearsal dinners, general dining, etc.) and can not believe how bad the service and food quality has deteriorated. We had 5pm reservations for an outside table… our entire party was there on time and we were pursuaded to take an inside table. We were placed as far back in the restaurant as possible… we waited for our first drink order over 15 minutes… then apitizers took another 45 minutes… calimari was cold, burnt tasting, and had a bad oil taste. We sent it back and they considered it magnanamous to remove it from the bill. At this point the manager came over to ask what was wrong. he listened then just walked away without saying a word… the man is a Douche! The waitress was trying but still our entrees did not arrive until 1 hour and 45 minutes and they were cold. No one had a meal that anyone could say they enjoyed… finally after 2.5 hours with no coffee or desert we decided to end this Mothers Day fiasco at Mariners on the Hudson. Four mothers and their families had what was probably the worst meal in the valley but at least the rest of the day was terrific. I do recognize that every business can have things go wrong … but when owner/​manager shows no empathy and makes no appology … then this business doesn’t deserve another chance… not at least until there is a new owner. (We generously tipped our waitress as we did not see her as being the source of the problem.)

Second time eating here. Waitress was nice and attentive. But the bacon scallops had no bacon on it! The pasta was flavorless and came out burnt twice. This place needs a makeover. Such a shame, location is great:(

Came here and sat outside on a nice May evening. I’ve seen people complain about the service on here, but our waitress Julia was great. My wife loved her shrimp scampi and my burger was good, but the teriyaki steak app could’ve been a bit bigger for the price. Only real complaint was my wife’s sangria, which she said just tasted like a big fuzzy navel. Otherwise a nice night and we’d definitely come back.

Service was very poor. Waited a long time to get a beer. The bartender was waiting tables. We only stayed because we just wanted to sit on the deck and relax. If you go for food or service, you may be disappointed. We ordered appetizers and they were over cooked.

Friday night dinner: the place was quiet.
I had the Risotto, wife had the stuffed shrimp.
Service was excellent
Décor was very nice and the views of the river were exceptional
Food was good, but overpriced
Overall, it was good, but not extraordinary.
