Jeff and Jess are always experimenting, and the results are consistent. I appreciate that a particular beer will have gradual changes in flavor over batches, and it is fun to observe these changes at 3 Freaks. And there is always Chex mix on hand.

It’s been 24 hours since I left 3 Freaks and I really don’t remember what I had. That’s never a good sign, it just really wasn’t a memorable place. Thankfully I didn’t drink too much, I actually shared a flight with my friend so the issue isn’t too much beer for my forgetfulness with this place. I remember one IPA, a stout, a pale ale and others in between and they were drinkable but nothing stood out. I’m usually one for neighborhood breweries and all about the local business but I wasn’t feeling 3 Freaks. The staff was friendly but keep a distance and the space was small with uncomfortable seating so not somewhere where I would seek out and want to grab a beer. They did have a food truck outside so that’s always a plus but the one there had a sleeve guy smoking outside the truck who I later saw cooking the food and that just felt dirty. Yay for checking off another brewery off my list but I don’t really see myself coming back here again.

Friendly staff. Really good beer options. They have popcorn for snacks(always wins me over!) Six different beers– at this time, but they are all different and awesome! Very happy to have found this place. Very quiet on a weekday, and not overwhelming at all. The bar is named after the owners three teenagers.

I dropped by while I spent a night in Colorado. The brewery was well maintained and friendly; Joe was very knowledgable about the beers and Jeff, the owner, showed me around the brewery. Everyone was very kind and the beers, let me tell you. I ordered a flight of 6 beers and they just happened to have 6 beers that were being served that day so I got to taste everything. Everything was absolutely fantastic but if I had to pick one, my favorite was the Yoga Pants IPA. I highly recommend dropping by to sample a flight and just enjoying the company.

Beers here are great at times. Yoga Pants IPA is a new favorite of mine. Pull up a stool at the bar and you will get great service. Nice to see their beers in other restaurants now.

Delicious brews! Just when I thought I had a grasp on the best breweries in my neighborhood, I realize I had been overlooking 3 Freaks. When we first came in, the owner personally walked out from behind the counter to greet us. He offered to get us a flight of tasters and even deliver them to our table!(Wow, service I don’t usually expect from breweries– so kind and hospitable!) My favorite was a rotating beer– the La-La-Lavender Honey Saison; delicious sweet aftertaste. We will most definitely be coming back very soon!!!

This is an amazing local brewery! The owner Jeff is a very nice guy and makes some excellent craft brews!!! It looks like they recently had a beer featured at the GABF too. A must try if you’re in the area

Great place. Been around for a year and a half! On tap at local Hooters so I’m in! Owner seems to be a very nice fella! Place is named for his three kids! Stop in and try a pint, you won’t regret it!

We came here for the first time in a Saturday night and it was Open Mic Night. The music was outstanding! The owner is really nice and the beer is really good. There’s a food truck outside so it’s very convenient when you start to get hungry. It’s in a good location and is easy to find.

We came in on a Friday night and stayed for a taster tray. I was a little disappointed because a lot of the beers featured on their website weren’t available. They only had about 4 on tap. My favorite was the red. I’m usually not a huge red fan but it had a ton of flavor, and I regretted not ordering a full pint after I left. The stout was quite good as well. I really wanted to try the sour though however it wasn’t one that they had on tap at the time. It’s a pretty small location, and in a strip mall, but there was still table or two available. It has the feel of a nice neighborhood brewery, and everyone is pretty friendly. It’s hidden away in a strip mall though, and if there is a food truck you can’t really see the sign, so it might take a few minutes to find. They also allow dogs which is a huge plus.

We had a fabulous time when we spontaneously stopped into this brewery for a beer and ended up sampling all of them. It’s a small brewery but you can tell that the owner is passionate and knowledgeable about his brews. All of the beer was great and it was a pleasure speaking to the bartenders. The location is small and not much for ambiance being that it is in the middle of a strip mall, but it’s a fun place to stop nevertheless.

Small place passionate about beer, and not much else. They have 6 taps the day I came, but one was already kicked(kicked at 4:30pm?!). It’s a fairly small place, and didn’t offer any food if you’re looking to eat and drink simultaneously. They are located in a strip mall though, and there was a chinese takeout next door if you get hungry(I think they let you bring it in?) Flights were a nice offering — allowing you to try 4 different beers. But I think flights make sense if there were a lot of different beers. I’ve been to breweries that just give you a sample upon request, so with a total of 6 taps, doesn’t seem to make sense. Order a second flight and you’ll already have repeats. Of the 6 beers, the yoga flight and odd man stout were quite good. But I don’t know if I’d make a trip all the way out here just to try 6 beers. Worth a stop if you’re in the area.

So glad we checked this place out because we WILL be back! Jeff, the owner and head brewer, was fantastic. This is how it should be done, my brew friends. He immediately started«throwing» samples at us when he found out it was our first time. No offense to breweries who do it different, but the mix of enthusiastic personality and offering samples is exactly what us brew nerds want when we are touring new breweries. We were able to sample every beer without breaking the bank or over-doing it on alcohol. We have no problem buying flights-ever– but it usually limits us on what comes next. Here we were able to make an informed decision on a pint each and then split a 3rd while we chatted and enjoyed our visit. The beer? Excellent. My favorite of the day, the hubby says 2nd favorite of the 3 we visited. He gave us and another first time patron a tour, another huge plus. The Yoga Pants IPA and the Clover Red were the winners. We are big hops fans and this IPA did not disappoint. Delicious beer + awesome atmosphere + great service= 5 stars in my book! See ya soon, 3 Freaks!

Being the new kid on the block is never easy. And with so many new and interesting breweries popping up all across the metro area and state, it is hard not to get lost in the shuffle. I had run into one of the owners a few weeks before they opened, while enjoying a beer nearby at Lone Tree Brewing. He told me about Three Freaks opening and gave me some of the concept behind it. One of the ways he described it was as a nano-brewery. I know there is not a completely accepted definition of what a nano-brewery is, but many say it is a a brewery that does less that 3 bbls in production per batch. In a more general sense, this is currently a small operation, that has growth potential(should they wish to). I came on opening day. The staff(many of whom were related) were quite friendly, and gave good service. There was a definite family vibe, which may seem a bit at odds with the name of the establishment and some of the neighboring businesses. There were four beers being offered on opening day. Of them, I thought the Odd Man Stout was the best of the bunch. It tasted full-bodied, rich, and complete to me. I thought some of the other offerings were not quite ready for prime time, but I sensed their potential. The patio was comfortable. Parking is ample. Once you know where this place is, it is easy to get here. You can even see the C-470 bike trail out the back door, which will undoubtedly make this place popular with the bicycling crowd.
