Slowest service EVER. Just the wait to order ice cream was 25 mins. They have ONE female student working the ice cream window and she moves like a sloth. No whipped cream for our Sunday’s. Booooooo!

My first time at Moby’s and definatley not my last! Great little, casual place to enjoy some really fantastic seafood. Nothing fancy about the place, you order your meal at the walk up window, there’s a really big selection to pick from and then wait for your number to be called. If you want some alcohol, just walk to the next window and there’s a choice of bottled and tap beers. Seating is on the deck in the back, overlooking the Inlet. I had the crab cakes, fried clam strips and the scallops all all were delicious. There’s no better way to end a day at the beach than by enjoying some delicious fresh seafood, a cold beer, overlooking the Inlet. Great Place!

Great fresh seafood in a casual atmosphere with beautiful water views. The steamers, lobster, and crab cakes were delicious!

Went to this back in July 2015. The atmosphere is very nice with the marina near by, an open deck, and a bar on site. I ordered a lobster roll but sadly it was just mediocre. Its not a chunky lobster roll like you would find at Red Hook Lobster Pound or most places in New England. Also, the hot dog roll isn’t toasted with butter to give it that final pizzazz. I would come back on one of the lobster nights to try that out as the lobsters appear to be sized nicely and cooked well in the pictures I have seen.

Great food, atmosphere, weather, view! I can’t say enough about this spot. Felt like you were on a friends back porch with a beer, but with an incredible marina view

Wasn’t bad! We stopped in here while boating, as they have a dock you can land at and walk up to the restaurant. It was the traditional lame beach-type service from a pack of 14 year olds for sure, but the food was not as bad as I was expecting. I had clam strips sandwich and fries, which were both better than they had any right to be, as well as freshly fried. The staff at the counter did seem very clueless and were not able to answer super obvious questions, but that’s neither here nor there. They apparently have beer, but the staff, being under-age, need a bartender to get the beer(fair enough) but they don’t know what beers there are, nor can they answer when I asked, nor could they find someone who COULD, but they could get someone to get me a beer if I knew what I wanted already? Weird stuff.

Unfortunately, on the way home on the Sunday of Labor Day all my normal restaurants were long waits. We were being impatient so we decided to try this. A few other times I have wanted to eat here, then changed my mind while looking at the menu. Today there was no choice. I got a lobster roll and fries. While the taste wasn’t actually that bad, the lobster was definitely not from a real lobster. It looked EXACTLY like cut up imitation crab meat. And it was on a small HOTDOG roll! Not exactly the lobster roll I was expecting. I also ordered a Strawberry Daquiri from the bar area. After being ignored for about 10 minutes(they weren’t busy) I finally got it, with about half a shot of rum in it. Again, the box the daquiri mix came out of had good flavor but for $ 7 I think I should have gotten more liquor. All in all a disappointment that I should have foreseen. But now I know!

Moby’s, the shake shack of Sandy Hook. It is a cool place where you order any type of seafood you can imagine at the window, get a number and wait until you are called over the loud speaker. I just wish the food would match the expectation. I go with some oysters, fish sandwich and some corn on the cob. My only thing with this place is the food and then the bread they serve the sandwiches on, it is a cold roll that takes away from the fish. The fish sandwich is always bland so you need to add salt n’ peppa, corn is good but would be better if they add warm butter on top instead of handing you cold pats. The best thing is raw food, not amazing but for a munchie it is ok. They have a bar — beer & wine served with attitude that leaves you with a bad taste, ignore that behind the bar. Now my other thing with Moby’s is their FLY issue and they have a serious one. They need to do something, they are everywhere and it gets really uncomfortable to eat. Sit on the first tables seems it is less aggravating there or go top and add some extra protein. May need some after a day of tanning :)

Every time I head to sandy hook, I want to try this place and finally got to. The best part is you can wear your beach clothes and not feel underdressed. You order your food and drinks at a window and they call your number when ready. Seating is picnic tables right on the water. I was excited to try their lobster roll, went with half because I also wanted to try their fried clams. Lobster roll is nothing to rave about and if I come back would not order it again. It’s more of a lobster salad(bland) in a bun with fries. The fried clams on the other hand were delicious. Not too much coating and great flavor! You can tell they were fresh. They give you a good size portion of them also. Writing this review makes me want a basket of them right now! My husband had the fried shrimp platter and had no complaints. Give this place a try if you are in the area and want some seafood with a nice view.

Came here for a bite with my family after going to Sea Bright Beach. It’s a shack like look to it and serves typical fast food with a seafood kick to it & even serves ice cream and Italian ice. The menu is written on a black board so you stand in line to place your order. As a group we ordered the lobster roll, crabcake, corn, burger & ‘fresh local’ fish n chips. We seated ourselves on long tables outside and waited for our number to be called on a loud speaker. Food came out quick but was terrible. The crabcake cost 10.50 for a wee tiny cake with nothing on it but a huge burger bun. The other plates came out with greasy fries that shimmered of oil. The ‘local fresh’ fish n chips were bland and clearly from a frozen box. The lobster roll was ok but ruined by a hot dog bun. The food itself was overly priced and certainly not worth it. The only good thing was the corn that was actually delicious and big in size. My boyfriend later got a cherry Italian ice that tasted like outdated medicine blended with ice. Will not be returning.

We stop here all the time on our way home from the shore. Great lobster rolls and good classic fried clams. You can sit on the deck and watch the fishing boats come in. A little pricey but pretty typical for the shore.

It’s no frills order at the window and pick up type of place. We grabbed drink had lobster rolls and peel and eat shrimp. It’s over looking the bay so you get a great view and nice breeze. Very fast and tasty. They carry alcohol, beer and wine so it’s def a great place to relax after a long day at the beach. Dog friendly as long as you have them on a leash.

Nice breezy outdoor spot but the food is very disappointing. New England clam chowder is very watery and they have mostly fried food.

I was so disappointed because It’s by the water but it just all fried or fast food. There is no other option. I was staring at the menu for 5 minutes and did not know what to order. I end up order ice cream only and it was ok because I realize it’s Blue Bunny brand. The service sucks as well. The cashier was rude and did not have the patience for us while we were deciding.

My first ever«1» star review!!! Rating is for the Ice Cream Window… Ice cream is the biggest rip off… «Single scoop» isn’t even ½ a scoop and they charge $ 3.50!!! Stay away… $ 3.50 for ½ a scoop of Blue Bunny ice cream??? I think the kids that work here don’t care, the management doesn’t care or both. No thanks!

Delightful view and fun for the kids. Read the menu people it’s fried food not 5 star gourmet. Love the malt vinegar for fries and big wash sink.

After a long day at Sandy Hook, you may need to place to hang out and refresh. Moby’s is located right by the new bridge with shared ample parking with Bahrs. They offer combo of lobster, mussels, steamers and corns for $ 33. Actually that’s not bad of a price, but we decided to get Large Lobster Rolls($ 19) and a cup of New England Clam Chowder. While waiting for our order, we moved on to the bar. We ordered Frozen Piña Cola, half order of Steamers and half a dozen of Oysters. Piña Colada was a little weak; however, the steamers and oyster were clean and fresh. Finally, we got called for our order. We proceeded to the deck in the back. The deck is pretty spacious overlooked the Sandy Hook Bay. It was kind of serene actually despite how crowded. Definitely a great spot to hang out! I agree with previous review about how staff hate their jobs. Money doesn’t grow on tree, so if you expect good tip, you’re gonna need to work a little harder for it. Dang, I forgot to try the wheat beer from the bar!

As another reviewer said, I love this place for what it is. I think the 3.5 rating that Unilocal shows is accurate but I had to round up for nostalgia’s sake. It’s nothing fancy and half the menu is fried, but it’s still a great experience. You can even dock your boat here and come up for dinner! I must say that a lot of the staff here is miserable. Granted, it’s mainly younger kids working there but I don’t really see that as a reason you can’t be friendly. When we went to go pick up our food the girl working as a cashier was complaining to her coworker about how they«hadn’t even gotten good tips tonight». Welcome to the service industry sweetie, here’s a tip: smile, and respond when customers say thank you. Regardless of that it’s still a nice place and you really can’t beat the location. If you’re in the market for seafood it’s probably a cheaper option than Bahr’s(although fairly pricey for what you get). If you aren’t a seafood fan they do have some other basic options, ie. chicken fingers, burgers, hot dogs. And check out Carton Brewing’s White Whale beer they offer there! It was absolutely great. The guy behind the bar described it as an IPA, but it has a Belgian taste to it as well, I loved it. This place is a Jersey classic so definitely check it out for the experience!
