Went twice in the past 3 days. Once by myself, and once with my girls. Both at lunch time. The earlier visit I ordered the«Jumbo Crab Cake Sandwich». Don’t be misled by the word«jumbo». It refers to the type of crab– NOT the size of the sandwich. Though the crab cake was very good, with plenty of crab meat… it gets lost in the oversized bun. You end up with too much roll with every bite. The French fries were great– tasty, crispy and hot— this time. When I came with my girls, Wifey ordered the chili($ 5) — she said it was good. It smelled and looked good. I didn’t try it. Wifey and my daughter both ordered the lobster bisque($ 8 each). The bisque was loaded with lobster, but it was somewhat bland. …could have used some sherry. I ordered the lobster«roll»($ 20), which is their lobster salad on a roll. Again, there was plenty of lobster, but it contained too much of something that tasted like pickle«relish». This took away from the natural sweetness of the lobster meat, and it could have used a bit more salt. The other issue this time, was with the fries. They were somewhat burnt, dry, cool to the touch and tasted like the oil needed to be changed. As for the waitress– she was a sweet young lady… cheerful, smiling and with plenty of eye-to-eye contact. She was great! Will I go back? Yes. Could I recommend it? Yes, but more for the view and the outside bar, rather than the food… so far. But all in all, the food wasn’t bad.

This was my first ever visit. It was a Saturday at 1pm after a morning at the beach. I had a choice of a table either inside or outside or a seat at the bar, also either inside or outside. I choose the outside bar which had it’s own bartender. Diane seemed popular since all the regular patrons seemed to know her. I ate Sun Burnt Chicken Pasta while listening to country music and watching Little League baseball, Yankees baseball and preseason football. It was an good environment to eat lunch. It would had been great if intermittent loud noises from passing motorcyclist didn’t constantly interrupt everyone’s conversation and tranquility. The pasta was basic but the chicken was very tasty. Except for the noise, it was almost a perfect day.

Every time I come back to visit family and see the beach this place has become a tradition to catch up and tell only the truest of fish stories!

A lively pub/restaurant located near the beaches of Sandy Hook and the old twin lighthouse. The cuisine in this part of the world seems to consist of grilled chicken(and other) sandwiches and seafood, and Off the Hook fits right in. The food was enjoyable and the prices were all right. The place is clean and attractive, and the beer list was above average. There is nothing out of the ordinary here, but it is a good spot.

We had the paella appetizer which was the best thing here than we adventured to the crab cakes and tuna steak. The main courses were blend and dry. Nothing really to enjoy here. The service was good because of the students. I can’t imagine returning here.

Live in the area and this is one of my family’s favorite spots. We always feel like we’re on vacation when we eat here. The food is delicious and their employees are always so sweet.

A great local spot. Nice bartender, James. Never that crowded during the week food is consistently good. We always get crunchy scallop app and Grouper sandwich. They recently got some really nice craft beers also

This place was okay. Food was okay, but the nachos still had unmelted cheese, which was I swear was Kraft shredded cheese from the supermarket. I also had the Shrimp cocktail with some really spicy cocktail sauce. I would come here again. A bit crowded on a weekday evening, which was surprising(the parking lot was also packed; had to find street parking so be aware of this option). Don’t these people have work the next day? Overall, I had a great time.

Off the hook is a fun neighborhood bar. Nice folks reasonable price. A great burger night and Prime Rib Special. It’s decent reasonably priced place. Menus pretty old school but it’s all prepared well and with quality ingredients.

Off the hook has a great view and a nice menu. We have been here before and enjoyed ourselves but now after trip number three it’s time to review. During our most recent visit we sat at the outdoor bar area. Service was quick and friendly. The husband enjoyed the view of the ocean and nearby Gateway National Park, he also correctly noted that this would be an awesome spot to watch a storm roll in. When it came time to order food he had the Flounder Sandwich $ 10 and I had the Garlic Shrimp App $ 12. Mine was awesome! The shrimp and scallops were in a buttery garlic sauce that was perfect and came with 2 pieces of garlic bread. His was a large flounder fillet on a hoagie roll and fries. He didn’t like all the bread but that didn’t stop him from eating it anyway. The crowd was friendly and it wasn’t as crowded as we thought when we first passed by. The live entertainment was a nice touch. The husband and I both said we should remember to come here more often, and we will!

My go to spot after sandy hook. The place has amazing views of the water and bridge. I love just about everything on the menu and I’ve had just about everything. I take that back I prefer their fish and seafood dishes and salads. It’s a local spot everyone seems to know each other. The staff is supper friendly, it’s a relaxed beach atmosphere. Indoor and outdoor seating everything you want after spending the day in the sun without the hectic crowd of beach goers. Like I said it’s a local spot. It can get crowded depending what’s going on, but it’s a relaxed crowed so you don’t feel like you’re in a overcrowded bar.

Location is nice, right before sandy hook and near the water. Seating options are good, either outside or inside. Food, it depends on what you order. Lobster roll was good but shrimp scampi stinks. I wouldn’t even call it shrimp scampi, I’d call it shrimp with soupy water and pasta. Coleslaw was warm, but fries are good. Service is good, immediately seated and given our drinks within a short time. Live music was nice too.

Always good. I was pleasantly surprised at how good their food is. Pretty basic what you’d expect sort of menu but everything is good. The prices are very reasonable and the Lobster Salad is outstanding. …so are the onion rings! Generous portions for both food and drink and service has always been fast and friendly which is saying a lot for a shore restaurant in the summer.

Crab is good. Crab dip. Crab cake. Crab everything. But they always take forever to bring out the food. The water was cold.

Very good food. Shrimp cocktail, Caesar salad, kids grilled chicken, cheeseburgers and steamed broccoli were very good. Cherry Gorgonzola salad with blackened chicken was excellent. Fries could have been better. Environment and ambiance is very nice. Beautiful setting. Reasonable prices as well.

Off the Hook is popular Watering Hole with local clientele. And for good reason… good food and drink. Tip: Public Wi-Fi simply requires Off the Hook’s phone number as passcode. Much appreciated.

Very small inside, but patio seating is available as well as an outdoor that is covered. Bar area for smoking is semi outside. Prices are a little expensive but it’s a shore town. I normally get the blacken salmon which is very good. It’s bar food with a seafood heavy menu. It’s good, and it’s a good place for a small group. Their sangria is also amazing by the pitcher. The view isn’t as nice since the new bridge was built. In the summer there are a ton of motorcyclists there. I used live across the street from it, and it was loud and annoying.
