Love the pizza and the beef. They also have a great chicken sandwich with marinated tomatoes and it is delicious! Staff is always friendly and we never wait long for our food. Only thing I wish is that they had more sides to choose from other than just French fries.

Great memories of this location when it was Carm’s. I hadn’t been in the area in some time, and I was happy to see another independent Italian beef joint up and running. Great beef and fresh cut fries. Hot peppers were a bit mild for my taste, but still a great sandwich. Friendly service. Will return.

Ordered for delivery at 4:05 p.m. Our food did not arrive til 6:00 p.m. & all we ordered were a beef sandwich, hamburger, & chicken. Chicken was extremely dry & food was cold. There is $ 20 min delivery order just to wait 2 hours for delivery.

The food is always great. You’re greeted with a smile and warm welcome every time. Doesn’t matter if you’re ordering beef, pizza, hot dogs… you’ll be satisfied! Don’t forget to order an Italian ice before you leave!

A blast from the past. I used to go to the original in Chicago for the gravy bread as that was all I could afford. I’ve eaten here a number of times and it’s one of the best beef joints around. Still the same recipe made by the grandma now that used to make it in Chicago. Same great food by the same family. Happy to have them in the neighborhood.

Been coming to chickies since I was. A kid on Pulaski and then they disappeared or someone took over or open up a knock off in Cicero but I’m glad to say chuck saved the legend of the best best in Chicago best combos Xtra juicy and hot peppers this is the original Chickies from the same recipe and family keep up the great work guys!!!

30 years later, after hundreds of visits over all the years of growing up in the neighborhood on Pulaski, it’s back!!! 30 years later, my best friend and I sat here as we once did on Pulaski. In fact, most of my friends worked at Pulaski, plus I went to school across the street(Yes, Whitney). Then I ate plenty of $.25 gravy breads!!! Yes, a gravy bread was $.25, bread dipped in beef juices, every now and then you’d get a piece of actual beef on there and you were golden. Today we went back 30 years my friend and I, sitting in here. Good food, just like back in the day. I’m glad someone in the family brought this all back(it absolutely is family run)!!! Good job Chickies!!!

I drive all the way from Joliet to get a taste of the good ol days. My dad would bring this food home on Fridays when he got paid in the 60, s.65.00 a week working at best foods. But always found chickies food waiting for sitting on the front stoop eating chickies on taylor and loomis. Those were the days and now I am driving to Cicero so my grandkids can get a taste thanks Chickie!

Once upon a time in a galaxy far far away, my husband and I used to go to Chickies on Pulaski. and then it closed. We were very sad. Then we found out that they opened the same Chickies in Hillside and our life was once again complete. Good, solid beef. If your from Chicago, ask for your beef dipped with hot peppers and you will be in heaven. Just sayin. Great fries. Prices are fair. One thing I should note — I messed up my order and the owner threw in the fries I forgot to order and didn’t charge me. That says a lot about this man’s business ethics.

I was turned on to this placeby a friend… Fabulous sandwich and fries! Their hot peppers are unique and tasty while not being overbearing. The fries are fresh cut and cooked… delivered nice and hot. The staff is great… Chuck was there greeting everyone that walked through the door and chatting with old friends like you only hear when someone cares. This place is worth the drive if you are looking for authentic made to order food.

Average place. Restaurant is very nice and clean. Staff is friendly. Overall, nice ambience. Would have given more star if food was a little less greasy and a bit tastier. If you are hungry, this would be a good stop. Enjoy.

Lotsa Beef Joints in Chicago and the Burbs. This is one you can trust. Any place that smells like this when you walk in has my vote. Nothing you ain’t seen before, but what they do, they do very very well. If you’re cruising Cermak Road near Wolf, it’s worth the slight detour North to go eat here.

Ok… food is, overall, pretty descent. But it seems expensive. I’ve been in about 5 times. 4⁄5 times, the old lady was working. She is, to be nice, rough around the edges. When I asked for certain things on my cheeseburger(eg. Lettuce) she looked at me like I was one of the Three eyed fish from Springfield. I think the fries are amazing. much like 5 guys. The beef sandwiches are a solid choice. Milkshakes are a mix of vanilla soft-serve and flavoring(but they aren’t bad). The cannolis are frozen… so I would not waste my money on those. I give 3 stars because, at the end of the day, I don’t feel good about how much I pay for the food I get.

I went into this thinking the great reviews meant this was a great replacement to Carm’s. Italian Beef — Non Traditional Giardiniera. I like Carm’s before it and Pop’s beef take on the fresh greener style. However, this really had no heat which sent the sandwich into bland territory. I like a hearty bun that can stand up to juice but this was either too tough or stale. Hot Dog — Nice snappy link but the bun seems to come straight out of the bag, making it dry. Fries — Wierd taste. Like they were making donuts or fried pastries that morning and used the same oil later on. I’m not saying they did but it did have a bit of a sweet taste to it, like a donut. Service– All we ordered were Beef sandwiches and hot dogs. Don’t understand why it took so long for the order. Even if the fries had to be dropped the moment we ordered it took longer than that. Parking — Horrible. Side street packed, front packed. Maybe 6 patrons in the restaurant, 2 groups. Dangerous backing out into Mannheim rd.

Fresh cut French fries. Do I need to say anything else!!! If you’re a French fry addict like myself, this place is definitely worth checking out. Their hot dogs, hamburgers & Italian beef are really good too. It’s been about 5 years since I had a beef at Carm’s, the predecessor to this restaurant on the corner of a strip mall in Hillside. I was interested to see how Chickie’s would stack up against that strong competition. The short answer is — pretty freakin’ well. I remember enjoying Carm’s, but I don’t recall any specifics which would allow direct comparison. Suffice it to say that my beef from Chickie’s today is among the best I’ve had(thought not quite at the level of Jonnie’s, a few minutes to the northeast). The beef was juicy and nicely seasoned. The bun stood up to the beefy assault well without being overly chewy. Fries, which I ordered extra crispy, were plentiful and a steal at a buck-and-a-half. The new owners didn’t spend much to upgrade the décor from the previous tenant, but I’m cool with that. It has a retro appeal with vinyl white and red checkered vinyl tablecloths. Just think how quickly cloth tablecloths would get stained with the tasty beef gravy that soaks these sandwiches. I can respect practicality. My main niggle with Chickie’s is the nature of the giardiniera. They are clearly not working from the Chicago style hot giardiniera playbook here. There isn’t any diced carrot or cauliflower to be found — instead you get an entirely green mixture of what seems to be peppers and celery. It wasn’t bad, but I’d prefer something a little more traditional on my sandwich. By no means will it keep me from coming back, though. The quality of the beef itself was excellent.
