Garden Exchange

I love this place, I’m not sure why it only has two and a half stars. The staff are super friendly, the nursery has great plants, small in size but a few of everything.
I was looking for Ota avocado and found it here. They didn’t have a Tahitian Lime but Tammy offered to order it and call me when it was in. A week later, I got a call!
This is an old fashion family run establishment. If you are looking for big box and what comes with big box generics plants and overpriced tools this ain’t the place for you.
I’ll continue to support this little gem!

They need lessons in customer service. A few of their floor people have always been courteous and helpful in store.
Today, I called to ask if they had parts for my chainsaw and before I had even finished asking my question the lady says «NO WE DONT.» She must’ve been clairvoyant.
In small towns like Hilo, customer service is the only thing separating retail stores from much cheaper online stores… and since this place is lacking in both customer service and fair prices I will do my shopping online from now on.
Kelp4less is a great online place with cheaper prices on everything and free shipping anywhere in the USA.

if your getting something repaired, pull your pants down prior to walking thru the front door, that way they won’t rip you pants when they penetrate you!

Garden Exchange is great! I’ve been in several times and have bought an ulu tree, and a fig tree as well as some terracotta pots.
Of course it’s not cheaper than Home Depot, but it’s LOCAL.
Every time I’ve been in I’ve received great service, and the staff has been more than willing to answer all of my questions.
I always have a great experience at the Garden Exchange!

Received great service prior to, and after my purchase. From the sales clerk who listened and answered all of my questions and shared her thoughts about the product, to the Shop Manager (?) Russell, who gave me some quick pointers on what to do and what not to do, with regards to starting the trimmer properly. Needless to say, Garden Exchange has earned my trust and respect from here on in!

Garden Exchange has a good variety of the things you need to keep your yard or garden looking good. They have very helpful staff, who are knowledgable about their products. Everything from lawn mowers, weed eaters, hedge trimmers, fertilizer, soil, plants, gardening tools, etc… They carry motorized brands such as Shindaiwa, Maruyama, and Stihl. Dependable products for the professional or everyday gardener. The store is located in downtown Hilo on Keawe Street across from downtown Kta.
I have purchased products such as weed eaters, fertilizers, weed poison and soil from them. They back up their products, and take the time to explain what each of the items does if you need the advice (like me)!!
If you don’t like long lines and walking through huge stores, then Garden Exchange is the store for you. Good prices, dependable brands, friendly and helpful service.
