Great Mexican food! Even if it looks a little sketchy on paper plates! Hidden in the BiLo shopping strip-you order at the counter-no place fancy, totally casual and served on paper plates, but the portions are HUGE! Great queso for dip too!

DONOTGO. Over priced. Bland. I will say you get a lot of food just not flavourful food. I only took leftovers cause I spent so much money on it. Oh and they wouldn’t let me do no stars that’s why I put 1 star.

An institution has now become a place to remember when it was grand. Jimmy sold the business to a surely(at best) lady who renamed his famous margaritas and serves disdain instead of warm customer service. We ate here twice this trip only out of the shock that the fist experience was so slow and unwelcoming that it could not happen again. Unfortunately, angry owner lady is consistent with sneers, slow service, and general contempt. Would love to tell you that we were just ugly yanks with high expectations, but her employees even tossed her under the bus when she was not looking. Amigos is dead. Long live Amigos!

One of our fave restaurants! This place was highly recommended by a friend. We visit HHI every year for the past eight years and we wish we knew about this place sooner. I had the BBQ Salad and let me tell you — it was the bomb!!! Fabulous flavor and so fresh! Highly recommend!

Have they changed owners? So disappointed. My go to place no more. Food was mediocre. Need a new fish taco place. Took forever to get my margarita. Ugh.

Food was mediocre at best and way overpriced. The ladies who work there are sweet but the owner made us uneasy. Our family of four had a chicken burrito, a steak burrito, fish torta and veggie tacos. Only the chicken burrito seemed to pass the muster because my son smothered it in queso. The fish is deep fried which Is really unfortunate. Had it not been I would have gotten fish tacos. I know we are in low country but fish tacos are so much better with a grilled fish. Chips were good and so was salsa. Rice was good too with just a little kick of cumin. Décor stinks There are state license plates all over the walls. All blue states are upside down so anyone who falls to the left of the political spectrum might be put off by the owners’ blatant political declaration — very unwelcoming. He clearly doesn’t care how it makes his customers feel.

I’ve been a regular customer here for a very long time, even before the previous owner. He was very nice, his name was Jimmy. They changed to a new owner and my visits here have not been lovely like they used to be. I always order the barbecue chicken salad with extra barbecue sauce and on my last visit the new owner refused to give me extra sauce unless I paid extra for it. I thought it was very strange because I was never charged for it before. I felt like it was totally unnecessary for the new owner to do that. So beware if you ever go here to not ask for extra sauce.

Good wholesome food served with a big friendly smile. Tacos are so simple yet the subtleties are where you separate a good Taco from the run of the mill. These are good. Try the Oyster Tacos for a mind blowing experience. Strong recommendation!

This place is great. The food is on point and the service is good as well. My burrito was fantastic and my wife swears by there BBQ chicken salad. The owner seems to be a bit of a grump when taking your money but oh well the food is da bomb.

My wife and I stumbled upon this great place located in a strip mall while out for an evening walk from the south forest beach area. Upon entering we were greeted and informed of their most popular dishes and great salsa bar. My wife had the steak chimichanga platter and I had the chorizo burrito, both were very large portions and authentic and fantastic! For our beverages we had jimmys world famous margaritas, my wife had coconut and I cinnamon. Again fantastic! We will be back! Easy walk from coligny s. forest beach area. They also have takeout. Enjoy!

This was one of the places that I was looking forward to coming back to. And it was good, but not great. Not as good as I remembered. Yeah, the portions are huge, but it’s really expensive for what it is. Kids’ meals are $ 7.50. I think if you know how to order right, you can come out of here for a reasonable expense. e.g. 1 taco is really equivalent to 2 regular tacos. Main complaint is that the tacos are almost impossible to eat. They’re so big, they just fall apart. Maybe that’s how some people like them? The fish tacos were good, the chicken tacos were dry. The salsas are good.

We went to Amigos the other night. We’d read the reviews on Unilocal so fine dining, we hadn’t expected, nor looked for. The food was fine. Not phenomenal, certainly not five stars, but fine. The thing that stands out is really that it was pricey. $ 45 for two bbq salads, a kids quesadilla and a margarita… a bit pricey for what it is.

If ever a place deserves 5 stars this is it! My mother-n-law, which likes nothing, loved this place. I had the fish taco and oyster taco and both were amazing. It simultaneously satisfied Mexican and seafood needs. It was also very price friendly. Eat here!!!

Had a chance to eat here on our 10th anniversary trip to the Island. The place should be featured on Food Network’s Dinner, Dives, and Drive-ins. It’s tiny, but worth the wait. We enjoyed the queso and Salsa to start things out. Their special house made margarita was fantastic, and for the entrée I enjoyed the Chicken Fajita burrito. Bring your appetite as the burritos are enormous! The staff was attentive and the owner and their chief marketer were great to chat with. Will definitely repeat on our 11th visit. If you are craving Mexican on HHI, Amigos is the place to go!

Four stars because no high chairs and the owner is a grump. I’ve been eating at Amigos for 20+ years and love the food. The plain olé chicken quesadilla is great, the carnitas are awesome as is the steak taco. The burritos are gigantic! Actually all portions are quiet large. Back to not having high chairs… I was shocked to walk in with my one year old to find no high chairs. Never noticed before. Saw two other families with babies sitting on their laps trying to eat. That’s just ridiculous in my opinion. The owner is also just not nice… hasn’t ever really been over friendly. I miss the old partner/owner. The sweet ladies who work there seem on egg shells with him, but when at the tables they couldn’t be friendlier! Anyway, to get past those two things… amigos is one of my favorite places to get a quick casual meal.

My favorite is the BBQ chicken salad, or BBQ chicken quesadilla. Huge nacho plates and great burritos too! And, Jimmy makes a mean margarita :)

I have eaten at this restaurant over 700 times, the quality of the food is so good I have never had a bad meal I usually get the Pollo Asado Burrito my wife loves the bbq chicken salad. The owner Jimmy knows his stuff he has a great staff in the kitchen that know how to cook Mexican and Santa Fe style foods. I love the salsa bar and the homemade tortilla chips fresh as can be. I love this place…

Great place to unwind, have a beer and some good mexican food — easy. The atmosphere is super casual, and it’s not pricey. The food has been good every time we’ve been. Some of the burritos are big enough to share, and the salsa is always fresh and delicious. We’ll be back again on our next trip.

Wanted Mexican for dinner one night on vacation and didn’t want to go to San Miguel’s or Santa Fe Café(see that review for why). Trusted Unilocal and boy are we glad that we did. It’s a dive for sure. Hole in the wall? Yep. Really good mexican. Totally! Portions are huge. Hubby got the burrito and could only eat half of it. I got the fajitas and could only do the same. Very tasty.

The scene: you arrive in hilton head on a Friday night after many a flight delay and nary a bite to eat since breakfast at 9am. You are famished. Amigo café is essentially on your resort it’s so close. So you decide to give this Mexican dive a go. Wow! We were not disappointed. Potentially the best Mexican any of us had had. Huge portions. A condiment bar where you can load up on on e of their three salsas or add cilantro, onions, pico de gallo, etc. Killer margaritas that don’t skimp on the tequila — only the classic lime available though. We got fresh corn chips with salsa and some thought it was a bit watery but I loved it. It was well seasoned. The spicy salsa is spicy — be warned. The tacos are a good size for those with an average appetite. The taco salad and the burritos are massive — and worth every bite.
