We ordered off the Appetizer menu – green fried tomatoes with pimiento cheese and roasted red pepper jam; clams in a butter, tomato, garlic and caper sauce; and fried okra —AMAZING! Great margaritas, too

This was our first visit to this unassuming little restaurant which is tucked away under the Cross Island Parkway and it packs a delicious punch! They start with a Carolina southern meets low country menu, toss in some flip flops and shorts attire, and sprinkle toe tapping finger snapping music in the air. The manager grew up on HHI and is a Carolina Gamecocks guy. Friendly, just chatty enough, and interested in how the year-old restaurant is living up to our expectations. Our darling Clemson grad waitress, Heather, was just who you’d want taking care of you and your family. Charming, gracious, and willing to answer(or find the answer) to your questions about the menu(yes, you can make special requests), the location(yes, Palmetto Bay Marina is full service marina), and even who selects the music(not a CD, it’s Pandora’s «Carolina Beach Music» station). Be sure to order the hush puppies as an appetizer, although, frankly they’d be a delicious dessert, too. Piping hot in an equally hot cast iron skillet, they come with apple butter on the side. A spinach salad, crab chowder, the fried shrimp basket, and the ribeye steak(sans Cajun rub) rounded out our dining fare. Three grown ups with plates, forks, spoons, and knives flying across the table to taste test everything! And every bite better than the previous one. We also drank the Bluffton IPA River Dog Red on tap. Main advice: skip the not homemade but good pies and order another round of those hush puppies! Since my mom is also blessed to be a 25-yr HHI local, we will be back. Again. And. Again. And. Again. Yum.

Absolutely the best Hush Puppies and spread combo I’ve ever had! I ordered the Grouper Strip Basket(I asked for blackened rather than fried) and my husband the Grouper sandwich, the plates were awesome. I suggest the Watermelon Marina Rita! The owner is super nice as well! We will definitely be coming back next time we’re in town.

My wife and I and our 3 kids ate here after a dolphin cruise. My wife is not a seafood fan so she ordered chicken fingers which were very bland. I had the steamer special of the day with snow crab and shrimp. It was good, but nothing more exciting than I could have ordered at Red Lobster back at home in Ohio. Overall, decent seafood but I think there are better options in the area.

At the end of a overcast light raining day, decided to finish the day on a high point. Wanted good seafood and checked out the menu before heading out. We were very surprised and pleased on our choice. At first glance was not sure if we made the right decision, but our server, Jeremy, put that all to rest. First he took our drink order and quickly returned with two huge, refreshing cocktails! Then he gave us the specials; then asked if we had any questions. He came back and took the orders. Not wanting a large meal we opted for multiple small dishes. First, the crab chowder. One word. Oh My Gosh! The absolute best chowder I have ever had. Large chunks of crab meat, potato, corn, and two of the house’s crab bites! Superb! Creamy, with a delightful balance between the sauce and its spices. A must have! Next had the fried claims. A HUGE serving that, get this, I could not finish! Crispy, yet the meat was still moist and flavorful. Another good selection. My wife choose the mussels and snow crab legs. All I could say is not a word was spoken by her until she lowered her fork! She said the best seafood dishes she has had in years! Overall, one if our best meals we’ve had on our numerous HHI vacations! Highly recommend this to all, and be sure to get Jeremy as your server, a special guy for sure.

Great food. Our group got a little of everything, pulled pork sandwich, pork ribeye(best pork steak I have ever had), king crab legs which were amazing and a steam pot. Cool bar type setting with some surrounding shops. Good covered outdoor eating area. Service was very good as well

We decided to try this place instead of going to my one son’s favorite restaurant since it is owned by the same people. The hostess was very friendly & sat us very quickly. We sat outside which offered a nice view of the marina. Our waiter greeted us almost immediately & took our drink orders. We started with the Blue Crab bites which were amazing. I also ordered She Crab soup which was also great. We also ordered Hush Puppies for the table which were very good as well. They were served with apple butter which was good but I would prefer a honey butter. My wife ordered the Crab Cake dinner & I ordered a special boil which had snow crab & shrimp. All the boils are served with corn, red skin potatoes & kielbasa. The crab cakes were great. The crab & shrimp in my boil were cooked perfectly & very good. The corn & kielbasa were also very tasty. My other son ordered the BBQ Pork sandwich which was good but probably the weakest part of the dinner. The fries that came with the BBQ Pork were awesome though. My wife ended the meal with the Peanut Butter Pie, although she got it to go since we were all so full from dinner. It was delicious when we had it later that evening. The service throughout the entire meal was excellent. We will definitely be back here!

This place was a disappointment. I can’t speak for the food but the customer service was not good. We stood outside waiting to be seated, no one came. My husband had to go inside and find the hostess who was socializing when he found her. Then when she finally came out she was not friendly at all! The waiters were nice, and probably would have done a nice jo, but we left because of smokers at the bar.

Fish tacos are very good. Happy hour every night until 7 offers reasonable prices on fish tacos, crab legs, peel n eat shrimp, all good prices. Kids meal grouper fingers are excellent and hearty. Substitute homemade mac n cheese(excellent) for the fries. The only thing keeping this a four star is that it is not terribly fancy, but that is not what you get at CCC. At CCC you get very good food, great prices and a very nice wait staff in a casual environment! Call ahead seating is available, too! Carolina crab chowder was a child favorite. Not too spicy. The crab cake dinner with tomatoes was also a solid offering. We will go back.

As another reviewer said, wound up here by accident. The GPS took us to what was Captain Woody’s, the wrong one, at that. But when life gives you crabs, ya make crab cakes… so we gave it a shot. The ball and chain and our two friends all had fish tacos. That’s right, count’em– three orders of the same thing. They all liked’em. Me? I got a «wicked pot» with a lobster, some clams and shrimp. At $ 28, it wasn’t a bad deal. Our server, the talented and funny«Clever Trevor,» had us entertained. So by now, you’re wondering, why only two stars? I mean, I made all gone lobster, people liked their tacos, so what’s the deal? Here’s why: microwaved hush puppy’s. Yeah, they were served all warm and yummy in a little skillet. The thing is, in just minutes, those little puppy’s were so hard, they needed to be registered as a deadly weapon. You could take an eye out with one of those things… or a tooth! Ouch! We were at Carolina Crab Co. on their first birthday. If they don’t get the goods figured out, the next person to wind up at this address might eat at whatever takes its place.

My family and I ate here for dinner tonight. The wait to be seated was short. However, the wait for our food was pretty long. If I remember it was probably 35 maybe 40 minutes… Our server was awesome. I forget his name but he’s from Indiana– really friendly and did a great job. The food was delicious! I could have done with more seafood on my plate and less fries– but regardless the seafood was soooo good! I had the scallops and the flounder.

Ended up here by mistake but pleasantly surprised. Good crab cakes and service was great. Wife has gluten issues and they were happy to customize a salad for her. Carly our server was great try sitting outside under the oaks next to the bar!

After coming to the island for 30 years, this was the first visit to the Carolina Crab Co. They are owned by the owners of Crazy Crab, but less pricey and much more laid back and casual! I was impressed to find they have crab legs on the kids menu! My 7year old and 5 year old ordered them and loved them! I personally had the Low Country Boil which had 1.25 lbs of Alaskan crab legs, red potatoes, corn on the cob and andouille sausage. Everything was cooked to perfection and fresh! We also enjoyed the hush puppies and my mom had crab cakes. We had a party of 6 and didn’t wait over 10 minutes to be seated! I would recommend getting great directions because unless you are looking for it, you miss it because it’s on the back side of the building. Outside you can walk down to the dock or listen to live music also!

Steamed oysters were overcook. Service was very poor. Couldn’t remember anything we asked for. Took 35 minutes to get one order of raw oysters. If you’re out this way go to the Black Marlin it looks a lot better.

The place doesn’t seat that many people which isn’t necessarily a bad thing; however when you wait an hour to get your for food, that just doesn’t make sense. I originally ordered the low country boil and was brought the wrong item. The waiter made a quick fix and brought out the correct item. The low country boil was very bland, I was disappointed with it unfortunately. Another person in the party ordered the special ahi tuna seared rare sandwich, which ended up being cooked well done. He normally would have sent the item back but because we waited so long he just ended up eating it. Also when we got our ticket, we were charged more than what was published on the menu for a children’s menu item. Unfortunately I can’t ever recommend anyone this establishment

We weren’t impressed with Carolina Crab. Overpriced. I got the Fried Schrimp for $ 16. It came in a basket with some fries and coleslaw. Not worth the price. We left underwhelmed.

The view and outdoor seating is what we’ve always look forward to at this restaurant. That being said, as this has transitioned from Woody’s to Carolina Crab not much else has changed. The service during our late lunch was unbelievably slow and neglectful. Food was mediocre — not bad but not«great». If you are looking for a great place to sit outside and dine I would recommend, just make sure you are not in a rush.
