We had dined here back in June 2015 and the fish tacos along with the drinks here are great! The location is extremely convent as it is right on the beach and saves your family the trouble of having to pack a lunch to the beach during the summer. The cons, however, far outweigh the pros. The service and staff here seemed inattentive and slow. It did make for a frustrating experience as we felt like it didn’t matter to our server whether or not we were present. She only came around twice to take our order and to drop the bill off. During the duration of our lunch, we spoke to other servers who were just walking around waiting for things to do. There is so much potential due to location but for things to get better, the service must improve.

Probably great food and I was excited based on the reviews; however, you need to be a member to eat there and this was not communicated on the phone. Waste of gas and time, communicate these things on the phone for future guests, please.

I come to the dune house often when staying in Palmetto Dunes. It’s not fancy or 5 star dining but it is one of the best beach bars on the island, hands down. I recommend having drinks and lunch there mid day or a few prime time cocktails just as the sun is setting low. Check your high class attitude at the pool and enjoy the casual beach side atmosphere at the Dunes House.

Great tasting blackened triggerfish sandwich is a must have here with a cold Landshark. They’ll make it on a wrap too. Ride your bike here and have lunch overlooking the sand dunes.

We are staying at Marriott and just a short walk to this restaurant. My wife and kids had the Greek Gyro and I had the grilled chicken sandwich-​all was very good and fresh! service was excellent. We ate on the deck shaded by the table umbrellas so with the breeze was not too hot and we could enjoy the great view! I highly recommend!

dont drink the water… or
you’ll hate it. food, atmosphere, staff all great. as any HH beach goer knows, tap water here literally stinks and this place doesn’t seem to care. most any other dining establishment on the island filters their water… either they don’t bother here or the filter is way over due for replacement. even the iced tea tasted and smelled of sulfur. hey, you might like that smell.
my greek salad with fish add on was great as was my wife’s trigger fish sandwich. my son had the burger that was truely cooked as ordered. medium rare. i absolutely will come back, but i’m hoping the management will read this review and do something about the water. i guess they’ll sell more beer this way

Not at all what we were expecting. Food was subpar and it just didn’t live up to the reviews we read. We thought we had the wrong place because of how the reviews made it sound. Live music was a good touch and the view of the ocean was nice but the food wasn’t worth it. Definitely don’t recommend for dinner. It’s more of a lunch place.

Located in Palmetto Dunes at the beach house;so its hard to get to if you’re not staying at Palmetto Dunes. The only eating spot directly on the beach so you need to have good weather. The lite fare food is very good. The bar is hopping! Go on Monday or Friday when the band Unicorn Meat is playing. And remember, have fun, its vacation!

The food was fabulously! The blackened trigger fish sandwich was perfect along with the Greek salad topped with a piece of trigger fish was one of the best! Service was great and the atmosphere perfectly in front of the Atlantic!

We basically went here because it is located right on the beach and we were able to ride our bikes there from the Omni — so it was super convenient when we were looking for something close and casual.
Seating on the deck was nice and very comfortable. The service was a little slow but they could of been short staffed when we were there.
If you’re looking for a very casual, outdoor bar and grill — this is a cool place to chill and have a beer and a burger while taking in the sights on the beach.
I also recommend the nachos — very good.

This is not a restaurant you’d seek out when on the island, but if you’re on the beach and you want to listen to some music, enjoy the sound of the ocean and sip a cocktail, this is a great place. It’s outdoors and closed if there is a wedding. On some nights there is special food like burgers, low country boil, etc. One day they may even serve sweet tea and serve fresh shrimp but for now no sweet tea and shrimp comes from NC.

Beach front chill joint — excellent! We stayed with family in a near by condo and this place was the hangout. While the girls were gossiping and napping by the beach we were having some beers overlooking the beach and water. It was most excellent.

Good food with an even better location. While the food was alright, the beer was cool, not cold, which is a major turn off. The menu may appear to lack in depth (no side items, just chips) but if it was any larger, The Dunes House would lose it’s convenience and overall «causal lunch» feel. I defiantly recommend this place for easy lunch right off the beach.

This locals bar and grill is right on the beach. You can get the best shrimp tacos, burgers, and hotdogs with a gourmet twist. Some local and imported beers. It is very causal in dress and people often bring dogs and kids right off the beach for a bite before going home. Good to stroll out and watch the sunset.

Great spot right along the beach. The servers and bartenders are super friendly! Asked the bartenders for a specific shot that they weren’t familiar with so they let me behind the bar to make it! Everything we had was good. Peel n eat shrimp, shrimp tacos, shrimp wrap, and mini burgers were all delicious.
