Service slow. Food was not very good. Chicken very dry. Very very dry. Very very very dry. Rice pudding was good. Meat loaf was better then the chicken but a sneaker may have been better then the chicken. Sides were good. I’m sure there are better choices. The other tables food looked better but I had the chicken. Very bad choice.

My father swears by this place. It is below average for a breakfast restaurant. Everyone gets corralled into one room. Service was fair to good. Food was fairly unimaginative. Prices were fair.

We usually end up here pretty often, but our experiences are becoming worse and worse. The food has been mediocre at best lately and the staff are becoming more unfriendly. The last experience here will probably be it for awhile. Half of my order was forgotten about, and the part that did come out was burnt and not edible. It also took a good 10 – 15 minutes for the waitress to come to our table after sitting down to get our drink order; and they weren’t extremely busy or understaffed. When you pay, the(presumably) owners don’t really acknowledge you at all… they simply stick their hand out wanting your card or other form of payment and basically ignore you other than that. I’ve been coming here for years and it has been like a roller coaster for awhile now. One time it will be good and the next time it will be terrible. Over the past year, it’s been pretty good but it is getting worse again. Aside from that, the prices are a bit high for what they offer. And, for being a diner they don’t have the best breakfast menu.

What a find! If you want a variety of choices, this is the place. My wife had the Monte cristo sandwich and I had to chop steak. Neither of us could finish our meals. On our way out we stop by the bakery and looked at the desserts. We will have to come back another time to try the desserts. They look like a meal in themselves. Good food good prices good service highly recommend

Fun place for breakfast. I had bacon and eggs and they were really good. Oatmeal was perfect. Very friendly service. Going back tomorrow.

Service and food were decent. I had the breakfast platter that consisted of eggs, sausage, bacon, pancakes and home fries. Everything was ok except the home fries, so bad I only ate 2. Pancakes were the best part of the meal and were very tasty. Ended the meal with a piece of German chocolate cake that tasted like it had been in the display for a week.

Large menu selection, but extremely slow service. The fried chicken salad was fine, as are a the usual diner-style meals. They just need to take the kids roasted turkey meal off the menu. It was terrible. My daughter is usually very adventurous when it comes to food, but hardly touched her meal and asked if she could have my salad. The roasted turkey doesn’t look appetizing at all. Why is the gravy orange?! It also tasted about as flavorless as paper. The diner would be better off just taking it off the menu. My son loved the hot dog and fries and the French onion soup was just fine. Overall, not worth the $ 40 we spent and not the quality I would expect from a resort town. The restaurant seems very clean and well maintained, they just really need to work on the service and food quality.

Breakfast at Hilton Head Diner was really good. I had the French toast which is made from in-house made Challah bread. It was the most tender French toast I’ve ever eaten and the portion was very big for the price. The service was excellent(thanks, Debbie!) definitely worth a stop.

Our server, Loretta, was great. She provided great service and was very friendly. The food on the other hand was lacking. I ordered the chicken and waffles and what I received was a joke. My family could not stop laughing at my waffle and the three tiny chicken strip on my plate… it looked like a kids meal. I wish I would have checked Unilocal before blowing $ 80. Never again. Stay away if you can… go to McDonald’s

Absolutely nothing to complain about. Service was top notch. The restaurant appeared clean. The food was the best breakfast we had on the island. I recommend eating here.

Ok, this is hard to type cause I’d rather be napping after the giant portions we just had. Having eaten our turkey dinner around noon my wife and I headed out in search of a late bite to eat. We saw the Hilton Head Diner was open and hopping. We were greeted and seated promptly & had a wonderful server. We both ordered bowls of soup which were hot, fresh and giant! My wife had beef barley and I split pea. Both wonderful. We ordered salads for our entrées, my wife had the low country and I had the blackened cajun chicken. They were both ultra fresh and very tasty, also giant. We left with containers. It was refreshing to see a business like this that still serves a quality product and employees quality people. There was still a line at the door when we left. Stop by but bring your appetite!

I had breakfast here 11/15/2015. The place was great. I had a great waitress. We left here a $ 10 tip she was patient and nice. A smile goes a long way.

Mediocre diner fare that’s a bit pricey. The ambiance is nice, but they need to have less menu items, and focus on doing those better. The TRIPLEDECKER sandwich was pretty good, but came with no cheese and a sides of mayo. The CHILI we were told was«homemade», but it tasted more like a can of Hormel with some extra beef and spices added.

Every time I come to Hilton Head I come to the Diner. It has such a nostalgic feel, great service, and AMAZING coffee!(And I’m a coffee«snob» I can’t even describe the vast menu in a review. It has a homey loving feel to it and the owners will go above and beyond to make sure the customers are satisfied. I have never had a bad experience here. The complaints on here make stink because this place can get so busy since its a HHI local favorite you cant expect a personal waiter experience every time. But they get your food out fast which is more important than anything.

This place is cheap, convenient, and has a huge menu. Our server was great, but the food was just average. Being in Hilton Head(and being named Hilton Head Diner), I was hoping for more of a local flavor. Nothing on the menu felt original to Hilton Head, and everything was very generic. Honestly, it felt like half of their menu was frozen or came in a carton. Overall, it wasn’t terrible, but I was hoping for more.

The service and staff were great, we went on Sunday for breakfast, no wait time. Cute retro look. Great food presentation. Cons: Taste & quality of food was so-so, not seasoned at all, the sausage was a tad to greasy and the ham actually made my hubby sick. We will not visit again. I read some of the other reviews that said how great it was so maybe it was just an off day but, it was our first impression and it is a lasting one.

Most awful meal in years. When I saw the 900 items on the menu, I should have walked. Better to do a few things well, than not at all. It was decided myself and Chef Ramsay would have a blast visiting again and tearing the place apart!

We stopped for lunch while on a bike ride around the island. I tried the chicken and biscuits with gravy. Heavenly!!! Gravy was white, the biscuits fluffy, the chicken was panned fried to perfection along with some mashed potatoes. A must try for all the northerns from OH, PA, MI and NY areas. Then wash it down with a sweet tea. Now back to the bike ride to start burning the huge amount of calories, but worth everyone of them…

Time & Date of visit: Very late evening/early morning on a Friday. Party Size: 3 Location/Ambiance: Rows of booths with modern décor. One of the few restaurants open 24 hours Service: Limited staff on late nights. After taking our drink orders and next food. It felt like our food took forever to come out. Seems that the kitchen can be slow late at night as well. Come here if this is the only option left at night and you’re still going to be awake when the food comes out. Food/Beverages: One egg with sausage and grits: I requested my egg to be cooked scrambled, which turned out alright. I wasn’t expecting much really. The sausage was very salty though. While the grits had no seasoning at all. I decided to just mash up the egg and sausage into the grits to give everything a balance flavor. Summary: One of the few options opened late a night that is vastly understaffed on the weekends. Be prepared to play the waiting game or watch some youtube clips until the food arrives.

We came here for dinner since no one could decide what else to get and I have one kid who doesn’t like seafood. The menu is vast and you will need to have some idea of what you are in the mood to eat to decide quickly. Breakfast is all day. Son got the pancakes. HUGE order, but they were really yummy. My salad was ok. I don’t think of cucumber on a Cobb, but whatever. The grilled chicken was almost dry, but overall the salad was tasty. other child had a philly steak. It was fine. Had good flavor but used cheddar cheese. Husband had a burger on texas toast with an egg. He said it was a decent burger. Service was ok. It wasn’t that busy, but I had to look for him for refills. They have desserts on display up front but we didn’t get any. Man checking us out… I suppose he was the owner… seemed very abrupt, bordering rude in his tone of voice… but then I realized he was from up north based on accent… so I won’t hold it against him. I can’t say we would return unless we were again at an impasse for choosing dinner.
