Small quaint little Mexican coffee house hidden in downtown Hinsdale. The coffee was great and atmosphere cool and it is worth the trip and avoiding Starbucks. The treats are packages though.

The service at Café la Fortuna = Excellence. I live on the East Coast and wanted to send a gift card to my coffee-loving cousin who lives near this café. I decided to give the shop a call to see if it was possible to long-distance order a gift card, and ended up receiving fantastic service. Angela answered my call, and helped me with paying for the gift card before she sent it out immediately and directly to my home(so that I could send it out to my cousin with a special note). Angela was extremely kind and efficient. She packaged not only the gift card but also the receipt for it with a beautiful holiday gift card holder. I received this within days of speaking with her on the phone. She also thanked me for supporting the business at the conclusion of our call.(Take that, Starbucks. Do you give me such service and kindness like that? Nope.) The next time I am in the area, I am definitely checking out Café la Fortuna.(My cousin was so excited when she received it in the mail and is looking forward to many trips to this shop!!) If the coffee is as good as the service, then you know we(my cousin and I) will absolutely love it. [A major«thank you» to you, Angela! Your kindness and efforts have really made a difference!!]

Service was very friendly, and the town was very cute! The coffee was OK, and parking was a little bit difficult. The Internet was fast, but because of the limited seating in the parking situation I don’t know if this is a place I would go back to in order to do work.

I was excited to try the coffee from La Fortuna given the impressive content on the website and the Unilocal reviews. The staff was friendly and the store was clean. I ordered a small coffee. The taste was ok, but below average compared to what I would expect from a coffee roaster. There wasn’t much nuance, it was predominantly bitter. I did go to the shop in the afternoon so it’s possible that my coffee wasn’t as fresh as it would’ve been if I went earlier. There was also something wrong with the lid I received, coffee would drip down the side of the cup when I took a sip even though the lid appeared to be secure. I may go back to try one of the blended drinks.

Love this little coffee shop! It’s sort of tucked away but I WAYYY prefer it to the Starbucks a block over. The quality and taste of the coffee is SO good(much better than Starbucks) and the service is great-always very friendly!

Absolutely the coffee shop you were looking for. I have been looking for high quality beans in order to make an alternative to BulletProof coffee beans since they are expensive. This store grows their own beans in Mexico. They have a picture of the plantation on the wall and they roast the beans in store. Assuming they maintain high standards within the process I don’t know anywhere else around here where you can trace your beans back to the source. Got a bag of medium roast for $ 10. Can’t beat the price for the quality and peace of mind. Taste la great as well. The barista also told me they can ship beans to my house if I can’t make it to the store. Awesome business and I would highly recommend.

Really excellent find off of the Hinsdale Metra station — lots of options, really smooth coffee, excellent counter service.

The coffee is outstanding and service is five stars. The spicy café con leche is top notch. Forget about Starbucks! The family who operate the shop are third generation coffee growers. Coffee can be purchased to make at home. The hot chocolate is amazing. They opened another location on 63rd street outside of Hinsdale and offer a small Mexican menu on top of their coffee and pastries. It’s lovely inside. I had a small party and we enjoyed wine in the evening with dinner. All fresh and well made.

I stopped by this little coffee place one morning and the people who own this place are so friendly. Their customer service was outstanding. I asked for suggestions and they recommended the mayan mocha, which was delicious. I also got an almond scone which tasted like it was just made. I would come back here again and I would recommend it to others as well.

Amen to all Unilocalers who have forsaken the S*arb*cks and embraced the local business. As a true Chicagoan, I’ve been practicing this principle for some time now and haven’t never looked back to all these major corporations that are trying to brainwash their consumers. I promised hubby the night before to have breakfast in the morning before he started his shift. However, I was enticed by the Japanese drama, watching it insanely, and didn’t go to sleep until«early in the morning.» Thus, I suggested that we used Unilocal as our trusty tool to develop a Plan B since I woke up a bit too late. We discovered Café La Fortuna today in downtown Hinsdale on the way to Joliet. What a lovely neighborhood coffee shop! Most importantly, they serve quality Mexican-style coffee. I had the large red eye, and hubby went with a large latte. The barista, who was full of energy, welcomed us with a spunk when we walked in. The conversations between patrons and the barista were pretty fun to eavesdrop(well, we were actually invited to the conversations because they were just as friendly as human beings can be). We are the city dwellers, but we probably will try to make it to the area during summer time since there’s a disc golf course nearby. In addition, I believe the Metra BNSF comes through and the weekend Metra pass per adult is $ 7! Do I have an excuse to come back? I certainly think so. The barista also handed us a coffee punch card. Although the entire venue is fairly tiny, the small space is conducive for striking conversations and dialogues between people. Feeling anti-social? Then overcome this inhibition by stepping into Café La Fortuna. There’s no single«shy» person in the house.

Skip all those national chains and come to Café La Fortuna for that next cup of coffee! This is a wonderful local business located on a small alley just south of the Hinsdale train station. It’s a cute place staffed with caring people who really love their craft. I tried the Mexican style coffee with cinnamon and spices and I was hooked! And the pastries? Worth every calorie! Parking can be an issue but you can usually find a spot in the metered lot right down the street. Next time you find yourself looking for that perfect spot to enjoy a coffee, check out Café La Fortuna. You can thank me later!

Not easy to find unless you’re a local, but this is my go-to for Java in Hinsdale. Coffee is stronger than Starbucks which is to my liking. If you request it, they will also blend the cocoa into the espresso for an added twist. Service is excellent and the owners are usually the ones behind the counter. Not as much seating as Starbucks, but not the crowds or wait either. Food items are limited but not enough of a negative to knock them down a star. This is all about the coffee!

Needed to quickly update my review and bump up my rating to 5 stars! I’m honestly not sure why I only gave this café 4 stars last time. I believe it was due to the troubles I had connecting to Wifi and maybe the fact that it was super crowded. I stopped in today though at a later hour(3 pm), and it was such a peaceful working environment! I honestly was the only one in the café give or take a handful of people who popped in for coffee to go. This time around I ordered the Café de Olla(with cinnamon and spices) black and it was absolutely amazing. Honestly the best coffee I’ve ever had. It was delicious and I didn’t even need to add in any creamer or sugar! There were different employees in this time, and the girl working behind the counter was very nice and super helpful. Another plus? I was able to find 2 hour parking right around the corner. Score! I’ll be back for sure :)

Excellent little coffee shop in downtown Hinsdale that will most definitely give Starbucks a run for their money! And why not support small business?! My boss brought me a coffee the first time and I have been lured back a few times now! This hidden little gem brew their own coffee beans that are grown on their family’s coffee farm in Mexico. Skip Starbucks and walk another block and hit up this great little coffee place. They have wonderful homemade baked treats and they are extremely friendly!

This is a hidden gem in Hinsdale where the coffee served is as good as it gets. The coffee beans are sourced from the owners own farms in Mexico. He is an absolute aficionado when it comes to coffee and chocolate too. Be sure to try the cold pressed and filtered coffee — it is absolutely heavenly. The Mexican Hot Chocolate is so authentic and absolutely delicious. I can’t wait to go back!

I never been to a coffee shop so passionate about coffee to the point of having growing the beans, roasting them, and etc by themselves. It might be the most amazing experience i ever had just seeing how they made my ice coffee and wow was it strong and just so good I still think about it. The owner is super nice and everyone just welcomes you in like you are family!

Fantastic independent coffee house with a rare advantage — they control the production of the coffee beans in Mexico and roast them on-site in Hinsdale. This means you’re getting the freshest possible cup. On top of it all, the employees are exceedingly welcoming and friendly, offering samples of various brews and answering questions with patience and grace. The traditional MexicanCafe de la Olla is slighly spicy and delicious. This is the sort of unique local business that we should all support. If you haven’t discovered it yet, please go soon. You’ll get the perfect pick-me-up to drink while waiting for the train ½ block away.

Owner runs the counter, beans roasted on site and great espresso machines means the best option in hinsdale for coffee by far! Tucked away in a side street it took me a minute to find. All coffees are single origin(Mexico) grown by the owner. Mexican roasts are some of my favorite. This is not an everyday place for me because I don’t live in hinsdale — but if I lived here Le Fortuna would be my only coffee shop in Hinsdale.
