Whoever was bartending last Saturday night at the front bar were the rudest two people ever. Misheard our drink order and were so mean about it instead of saying sorry. Decent bar besides that thought.

Too dark in here. More light please! Not a big fan of the music here either. The one time we came here was at the end of the night so we didn’t have to pay cover then. Drinks were ok but a bit on the pricey end.

My wife and I went here a few weeks ago to see some friends and a band that we liked from the Shore(Lifespeed). while we waited in line(10 minutes) we had 5 girls in from of us from out of town. they talked the doorman into paying $ 15 for all 5 to get in. i asked as well letting him know that we are from hoboken and he said that he knew them. as they walk in one doorman is saying to the other doorman ‘make them work for the reduced admission’ ’ make them do something stupid’(btw– girls told us they were visiting from out of town, wanted to see a fun band and clearly didnt know the doorman) we paid the $ 7 each. so if you want to go, just flirt with the doorman, but have your skit ready! wont be going again.

Okay so do keep in mind that I was here for Hoboken St Patty’s Day when reading this review. Price– For looking like a college bar, this place was pricey. $ 20 cover. $ 10 rum and cokes. $ 9 beers. Atmosphere-reminded me of a college bar. The band that was playing was fairly good. The crowd was free of the pretentious crowd that’s normally found in Hoboken bars. Overall a decent night at a decent bar.

This space has potential to be a pretty good venue, but the bartenders make it not so great. Cons: First of all there is a $ 30 or $ 35 minimum on credit cards. Also the they can’t get their prices straight. Gin and sodas went from $ 5, to $ 7 and then $ 8 in one night. The sound was kinda crappy too(or maybe it was just the crappy bands). I went to see the first band in a line up of 4, and it was very crowded by the middle of their set. I see this as a good sign, although I’m not sure if people crowd cared more about getting wasted or listening to music. They have a front bar near stage and in addition to the larger bar near the door. That makes it easy to grab a drink, and not loose your spot up front by the bands. Overall, I’d rather go to Maxwell’s, Jersey City, or somewhere in Manhattan for a show.

Great place for what it is! Listen this place is great for exactly what it is, don’t go expecting more. Young fun crowd, loud music, live bands that are normally pretty great. The bartenders are fast and pour strong drinks, there is no food it’s strictly a weekend bar(only open on weekends) for loud live music after dinner time aka later 11ish. Go to get a bunch of drinks with a bunch of friends and just have fun. Its a little divey but thats all part of the atmosphere don’t expect too much more and you will have a great time and probably get pretty hammered. Go when you are not looking for the club scene and just ready for a chill party with friends ready to get stumble home drunk. It does its job for this so love it for what it is!

We started our night here the other night… it was a surprisingly dead night in Hoboken. Drinks were strong, and not expensive. The bar tenders we friendly and remembered my drink. They have live music too, which is always a plus. I suppose it’s a little divey… but I really like it. Will definitely be back!

Good place to listen to some old school music while sipping on some drinks. Bartenders here are probably one of the most professionals you’ll see around Hoboken. Most of them are hotttt!!! Bands play on Thurs — Sat. Bands vary from bad to awsome. Big enough space in the back to jump around. Cover fee usually varies from $ 5 — $ 10 depending on the band performing that night.

If «whiskey» is in your business name, maybe you should actually have a sizable whiskey selection… And it would’ve been nice to have the basketball games on the TV since it’s March Madness. And the $ 35 credit card minimum is a little ridiculous. And I almost broke my neck in the bathroom because the platform to the stalls suddenly drop and land you into the sink. I’m sure it’s more fun when a band is playing.

I loved the band playing that night! The rest though was«meh» at best. There wasn’t much room near the bar area and the back space was dominated by the band. Drinks were reasonably pricing but nothing to write home about. I don’t believe they offer food. There will usually be a cover when a band is playing. If you want to avoid it, get there early.

This place sucks! i think the only good thing about it is it has like 9 toilet paper rolls in the girls bathroom. The people that go here do not know the town or how to respect the people who live in it. Its flul of obnoxious, cover band loving idiots who cant hold their liquor and puke on demand. There is alsi a cover every night at this bar. They should pay me to walk in there!

This place is alright as far as bars go. There wasn’t a cover charge when we went in last night(Saturday) and it wasn’t packed so there was plenty of room to move around. They let the Guinness settle, which is a good thing(so rare in these parts).

I only went here a few times, but the times I went it was pretty good. Easy to get a drink, and some really good bands play here, such as The Nerds(one of my favorite cover bands). Alright beer selection. Doesn’t get very packed, but that’s not a bad thing for me. I recall cover being $ 5 for some nights. However, I won a VIP card good at a few of the bars in town through at some point, so I was able to avoid paying cover for me and a friend for a year. Win. I keep meaning to go back to see other cover/tribute bands.

Been here a couple of times, but it wasn’t really my scene. One Thursday night I was walking by with my gf and we tried to go inside to see if it was worth it(this was our first time there). The guy tried to charge us a $ 12 cover each because there was a band playing that we’d never even heard of. We thanked him and started walking away, but he called us back and let us in for free. Inside it’s pretty spacious. Wasn’t crowded, and it was fairly easy to get a drink. I don’t remember the prices, but I think it was like $ 4 a beer. If you like the live band/cover scene, then I guess it would be ok. I went back one other time but also didn’t think it was worth it.

Whiskey Bar might not have the insane crowds found at other Hoboken bars, but the live rock music also keeps the riff-raff(aka frat boys and soroity girls) away. I saw a decent cover band there the other night and found Whiskey Bar to be a fun, relaxed atmosphere without the drama found elsewhere on Washington St.

I’ll have to check it when they don’t have the Rock Show but it was an o.k. place to hang out. The cover band tried to do a few songs like Song 2 by Blur that they really couldn’t handle.
