So this is the third time I’ve visited the Stone Eagle Tavern. This time we went with another couple we had not seen in a long time so wanted to do something special. I made reservations a few days ago to be car tail we could be seated on aSaturday night. But, when we arrived they had no record of the reservation. The hostess acted as if she didn’t believe me, which was a little upsetting. She seated us at a high top in the bar. I said we wanted the dining room, but she said no. Then, I described the other couple and learned they had already arrived and had a table. Rather than take us to the table, she said they were seated in the dining room and walked off. I called after her saying I would like to speak with the manager at some point in the night. We walked back to find our friends. Shortly after we seated ourselves the manager stopped by. I chose not to complain about the hostess, but did tell him about the mixup with the reservation. He offered us an appetizer on the house which we said was not necessary, we only wanted him to know about the problem. He insisted, so we ordered hummus. The hummus was nice — spicy, but not overly so. It was served with a mixture of fresh veggies. I had a vodka martini(wonderful) and for dinner I had their Italian Beef sandwich and onion straws. The berg was excellent. It was tender and moist. The bun was crisp and served with more than enough au jus. The onion straws were fantastic. I can already feel my arteries hardening :). Our wives ordered pizzas, and he ordered a salmon burger. Everyone raved about their meals. While I was disappointed the way the evening started, the manager made up for the error. The server was good. In fact, we had such a good time, before we knew it three and a half hours had passed. Overall, it was a great night. We’ll continue to patronize this place.
