Place was very dirty. They were out of chicken, tamales, guacamole and salsa. What’s left in a Mexican restaurant? Yuck.

Pretty bad. No nice way to put it. Not sure how they could ruin Mexican food any more. Dirty and old, stinky bathrooms. You know what they say about the similarities of how a restaurant keeps their bathroom and kitchen… Waitress was nice– the only saving grace. Took forever to make our food. I just kept thinking«why do I keep eating this?» It just tasted bad.

If you’re debating on coming here based off of the good reviews, I advise you not to. My dad and I were driving through on our way to California and stopped here for lunch. The chicken in my food looked disgusting and tasted worse, the rice looked like it had been scraped out of the bottom of a pot from the night before and reheated in a microwave that day, and the beans were so liquidy it was like I was eating black bean soup. My dad got a beef burrito and it was so boring and bland. We really expected more from Mexican food out of Arizona, our advice is to skip this place and eat at the restaurant across the street.

Came through Holbrook after a nice camping trip to Saguaro Man and stopped by here for a nice Sunday brunch. The food was really good and the atmosphere was really relaxed, which was nice after a really long weekend! If we come back through Holbrook again we will definitely have to stop by for some nice breakfast and coffee.

Friendly staff said hello instantly, slow small place sat down at booth. Menu is a great variety to what I expected. Had cheese burger and it was pretty usual. Nothing makes this place amazing but it’s A nice place for small meal.

I thought the food was good ol’ American fare and just OK but the heritage and stories behind this place run deep post-1943 and Route 66, and of course including inspiration for the Cars movie.

This place isn’t bad for Holbrook, but anyone from a big city will probably be a bit underwhelmed. Holbrook isn’t that large, so there aren’t that many options for food. This one is fine(i.e. you’ll be full and won’t get food poisoning). The offerings are fairly standard; if you’ve not experienced any fry bread before, I would make sure to try it. Every place’s will be about the same(it’s got like 3 or 4 ingredients), but it’s probably the deviation from standard Mexican offerings(tacos, burritos, enchiladas, etc.). We were there on a Saturday night, which is probably one of the busier times. There was only one waitress who seemed to be a bit frazzled running all over the place, but we weren’t in a hurry, so it wasn’t a big deal. Chips are kind of stale, salsa was okay. They were out of chicken by the time we got in as well(7PM); wasn’t a big deal for me, but might be for more picky people. The food came out in reasonable time. I got beef enchiladas with red sauce. Sauce is not too spicy, but it’s not«white» either. The enchiladas were fine. Beans are beans. Rice was a bit hard, might have been sitting in a pot for a while and gotten a bit overcooked. Ate it all anyway. The folks there are pretty friendly and will chat you up with some weird stories. They have some stuff from Cars since Holbrook was an inspiration for the movie. TLDR: Not bad for Holbrook, probably mediocre in any big city in the Southwest.

This place is an ok spot to stop when you are traveling late through Arizona. It is a little bit off the beaten path in Holbrook, the parking lot is a dirt/gravel lot that has very little lighting. We walked in and right off the bat they have Pixar Cars memorabilia. I was told by the hostess to some length that these people were Jon Lasseter’s inspiration for some of the Cars he created in the animated movie(PRETTYNEAT!). Overall the food is alright, the chile isn’t spicy enough(both red and green). It was nice to have chips and salsa as a complimentary as we waited for our food. The service was great, the waitress did a great job talking about the plates. The café is a bit dirty and the bathrooms are small. It is a bit worn down and a hole in wall but it has some charm.

Great stop on Rt 66! Have the Navajo tacos with chicken or beef. The flatbread is wonderful and hand-made. Friendly, pleasant service. Worth a detour.

Stopped in for lunch on our way home from vacation, when we passed through town on our way to Mesa and though we should stop. Took a review from Unilocal and tried Joe n Aggies, a little rough on the edges but good friendly service and hearty portions went a long way! Chips and salsa were included, we ordered the tostada platter with beans rice, & fry bread, and the Navajo taco and added beef, and green chiles, the tostadas were good but you average tasting, the taco was not what I was expecting with fry bread on the bottom and all the fixings piled on it had good flavor with the beef and plenty of spice for me with the chiles, but I’m not much of a spivey food person! We would definitely suggest this stop to friends and family.

Super friendly staff. Owners were inspiration for characters in the Disney movie Cars. While it’s by no means gourmet Mexican it was quality basic southwestern food. Cheese crisp, sopapillas, red chile… we were very happy with it and the friendly service.

We had breakfast here on our way to San Antonio for Breakfast. We had spent the night at the Wig-Wam Motel(see my review on the Wig-Wam) because we had learn Holbrook was the inspiration for the Disney animated movie Cars. We had decided to dine at Joe & Aggie’s Café, a small little café in Holbrook. We were warmly greeted by Tina(sp) and taken to our table. We all enjoyed our breakfast. I had chorizo and eggs. But what really made it even better, our waitress Tina(sp) informed us that the café and the owners Joe and Aggie were also depicted in Cars as Sanley and Lizzie. John Lasseter who co-directed the movie and writing credits had sent Joe and Aggie a ton of Cars products which were displayed in a glass case along with letters of appreciation from John Lasseter. The best moment was our 7 year old son took a photo with Joe who was at the café. What a great experience we had.

We ate dinner here after a day at Petrified Forest. Overall the place just seemed super dusty and dingy on the inside. The main reason that we stayed to eat was because it was around 7pm and not a lot else was open. We all ordered from the Mexican part of the menu. It wasn’t terrible and didn’t make anyone sick, but that’s about the best that I can say.

What a great piece of Americana along Route 66. We stayed at the Wigwam hotels and ate here for dinner. It was a nice addition to our trip along the mother highway. I ordered the Navajo taco and it was good. I’ve had excellent Navajo tacos while traveling through Navajo nation and a really bad one in a place that will remain nameless. This one was slightly above average. Don’t get me wrong, it was good but not what I expected. We also tried ordering a jones soda but the two flavors we asked were sold out. It almost became humorous while ordering. We treat ourselves to a jones once a year, since we aren’t sods drinkers. So we skipped it and drank water. Now, I did enjoy the qwerky atmosphere. The restaurant It is exactly what I expected for Route 66. The servers are friendly and service was good.

Dont judge this book by its cover. My wife almost walked out but service with a smile and simple well flavored food. I had a Indian taco and my wife had tostadas. Hers came with a tasty sopapilla. I had one of the most flavorful spicy green chili ones. Delish and I scraped my plate to get every bite. My wife’s was great also. Refried beans tasty and rice also. Beans are homemade! Fruit burritos are simple(pie filling) but amazing! If you’re looking for fancy gringo Mexican, don’t eat here. If you want simple but good, dive in here!

Was looking for a breakfast spot after staying at the Wigwam Motel down the street. Joe & Aggie’s Café had a standard 2-egg, bacon, hash browns & toast breakfast for under $ 7. Great. Service was extra friendly, but the place could’ve used a cleaning. Note: This place is the inspiration for Disney’s Cars and they have notes from John Lasseter on the wall. :-)

Great food and very friendly service. The history of the café was so thrilling. It has remained a family business since inception. Joe and Aggie were the personalities for the Model T’s in the movie, Disney Pixal’s Cars.

While in Holbrook, We stopped at Joe & Aggies Café. We should have keep going. The place was dirty. The floors had crushed chips all over. The Flies are all over. One review was” bring your own fly swatter”. I should have read it before entering. TERRIBLE, TERRIBLE, TERRIBLE. DOYOURSELF A FAVORANDEATACROSSTHESTREETATROMO’S. Wish we did.

This place get 3.5 stars? Is that a joke? Stopped here for lunch based on the reviews, Dirty at 1:00p.m. Almost all tables uncleaned. Found 1 that was clean. Refried beans just freekin awful. What’s so hard, empty em out of a can, maybe add some hot sauce, sauté em, add cheese on top, apparently this is too hard. Beef taco, no seasoning, no taco sauce added to meat, tasteless, very little lettuce/cheese/tomato. Nondescript rice No iced tea. Really? Rasberry tea was awful Cheese enchis with a good red chile sauce salvaged 2 stars.

Joe & Aggie’s Café is a diner that also happens to have Mexican food. The chile sauces and salsa here is different than what I’ve tried in the other states. The customer service is great and customization is permitted. I ordered two tostadas and asked for chicken to be included. I love the simple flavors. My boyfriend ordered the beef enchilada combo plate with red chile sauce which seems like it’s about to be burn your mouth but you realize you don’t have to reach for the water. The selling point was the refried beans. They were abnormally delicious. They were the first things eaten up. I wish we went back to have more.
