Best sandwiches in SLC! I used to come here every weekend with my grandma who lived a street away. Now every time I go I think of her :) Everything here is so fresh and delicious! Browsing all the fun Italian groceries is also fun.

I used to live a few hundred feet away so went to this store twice a week for about two years circa 2000 – 2001. And loved it. Then moved and went less and less until for the last three years didn’t go at all until recently. And it was strangely bad. I was glad to read L.S.‘s review saying it was under new ownership. The place looked like one third of the racks for food had been removed and the bread was mostly in plastic bags ehich makes it soggy. As it was late in the day i asked when the bread was bagged so I could come earlier the next day. However the checker said«it comes bagged.» Huh? Yuck. Then darned if he didn’t ring it up at the wrong price(about half the cost) and when I told him the correct higher price he said, «well this is what it comes up as,» and insisted on under charging me. Um, it didn’t «come up» as anything as the bread I bought was manually entered as they aren’t marked. I’d recommend you skip this place and try Tony Caputo’s two blocks away in downtown Holladay. For bread, also try Harmon’s. The fugase is the second best bread in Utah.

I am very sad to say that Granato’s is just not the same. It seems to have changed hands maybe 6 months ago. The new people are trying hard, very friendly, but some of the changes are not acceptable to me. First, their ciabatta bread(used in their sandwiches) lacks the tangy flavor, large pore sizes, and texture of a real ciabatta. Instead, its basically gummy white bread. Second, Seamus is gone. He was the source of all sorts of wonderful information — about esoteric ingredients, how to prepare food, etc. The current group working here are friendly but not knowledgeable. I also think that the assortment of deli foods has narrowed(but I could be wrong). Finally, there are lots of errors made. I am trying to keep the deli in business, and so go in regularly to purchase food. I have been given the wrong type of olives, and I have found errors in ringing up my purchases. The receipts are uninformative — no information. I am writing this review in hopes that the new owners will up their game. I look forward to discovering a return to high quality bread, knowledgeable staff, and accuracy.

A hidden gem in Holliday. The deli here makes great sandwiches as well as ready to heat up and serve meal options. The full service deli has an expansive selection of meats and cheese, with every accessory required for a fantastic Italian meal. Next time you need lunch meat, pasta, or a great lunch, stop by Granato’s. Try the meatball sandwich or the San Fran.

On Sunday, my friend said, «Too bad Granato’s is probably closed today,» and I said, «HUH!?» Then she told me all about what I’ve been missing out on. After doing a little internet research of my own, I hastened to Granato’s as soon as possible! I came to try out the mozzarella and basil sandwich on Monday afternoon. Loved it! Also included on this sandwich are tomato slices and oil & vinegar. You have a choice of bread, and I went with the traditional hard roll, as it seemed like the right thing to do. However, upon deep personal introspection, I’ve decided that I am open to trying the cibiatta roll someday. It also looked delicious. As an individual with no culinary abilities beyond those necessary for Kraft macaroni and cheese, I will probably not have much opportunity to utilize the grocery portion of Granato’s, but the deli is definitely worth a return visit!

This location is close to work so I make it there quite often. San Fran Kid on hard bread is my go-to sandwich. Classic Italian goodness — good ingredients = good food. Big fan of the meatball calzone and house dressing for the tasty side salad. I use Granatos frozen meatballs for crockpot meatball sandwiches in the winter. Awesome.

Excellent imported italian food. Cheeses, meats, homemade frozen sauces, pastas, sweets and a full sandwich bar that makes incredibly tasty sandwiches. Order the ‘monster’ size of any sandwich and eat it for 2 days. It’s so nice to have this Italian gem in SLC. It gives the city some ethnic flavor it needs and you can find European food in this very American food based city. Excellent!

Impressive selection of imported pastas, sauces, salami, and cheese from Italy. The store is much larger on the inside that it appears from the rather drab outside. There is a fresh deli in the back that has a great selection of sandwiches, Italian sodas, and some very nice homemade cookies. Highly recommended.

This really is a great local chain of italian delis. This location is over by my house so I have to try it out. The food is great, but how can you go wrong with an Italian sandwich? The grocery selection is top notch. The actually deli counter is massive and has pretty much anything you could want. Staff is friendly and very helpful. Did I mention that the Italian Sandwiches were awesome? Takes me back to the home country… even if I am from Idaho.

Great grocery and deli. I live pretty far away now, but still make it in every chance I get.

I really really like this location. Its massive! Great staff, great deli, amazing grocery selection(pastas, tomato products, sweet things, etc). They have a really well stocked freezer section as well but I’ve not sampled anything from it. Beware going in here before any type of major holiday or sporting event. They put together really beautiful deli platters for pick up and I’ve had to wait while they finish one up.
