This bunghole went through many owners and like many other ‘hood bars today are owned by Korean mamas who never care about locals. But thats just business, right? Watch your money.

It’s dungy. It’s loud. It’s hard to find. It’s a dive bar for regulars. The owner is very, very awesome. She’s always on the ball when it comes to getting you liquored up when you need your next round. Warning: If you’re an irritating drunk and you’re going to Aloha Lounge for the first time, I’d advise you to just leave before it gets ugly.

Only been here the one time but had a blast. To be honest this was our last stop of the night so I had some drinks before hand, which maybe why I could overlook some things that may bother others. Let me start by saying that there was an awesome crowd here, everyone was having a great time and were friendly and hilarious. We sang karaōke to our hearts content, very poorly I might add, and everyone clapped and danced. The karaōke system is a little dated, if the microphones get to close to eachother or a speaker you get a loud kick back. There is only one pool table so if you wanna play you may have to wait. I didn’t really order much, but the drinks we did get were reasonably priced. I don’t know if I’ll ever make a plan to go here again but I wouldn’t be surprised or dissapointed if after another night out I end up here.

my uncle comes here a lot, the place is a little hole in the wall off the main street so its not a dead giveaway when you pull out of the parking lot that you’ve been drinking all night with your buddies. parking isnt that bad either and theres plenty of space outside to smoke and talk story with your friends. theres two pool tables, two dart boards, and a karaōke machine! plenty of regulars that go at it! songs are a dollar each and they have a pretty solid selection of hawaiian music. the owner is a really sweet korean lady, Olivia I believe. one night I opened a tab and bought a ton of rounds. she was really nice and cooked up two pupu plates of duck and two pupu platters of oysters for us! We bought her a round and tipped her well, and she bought us a round too. I opened a tab the other night but was prettttty blasted. I’m going to give her the benefit of the doubt, but i’ll just put it out there not accusing her of anything though be careful and do the math when you open a tab.

After many minutes of begging, I was finally dragged out of the comfort of my blanket and thrown into the car for a night out with the bf and friends. Now usually I’m quite skeptical at going to new places(and I’m an elite!!! Shame! but let me explain!) if I don’t read the reviews on Unilocal before I arrive or if I hear that places can get rowdy. But I’m so glad I arrived here. LIke Tessa t. siad, I don’t want to write a review for this place either because I don’t want it to get too overpopulated haha! but yes, Unilocal is sharing. Our friends tend to visit this place often and always have great things to say. When we entered, it’s a little karaōke bar with two pool tables and some tables and booths. Again, agreeing with Tessa T., this place can be difficult to find. Luckily we had four eyes to help find the place. We came with party of about 10 and Aunty was so nice!!! The atmosphere is so welcoming. We were there along with a couple of older people singing and they were great! The songs are a dollar each but it’s worth it because the vibe is great. The drinks are about 5 – 6 dollars on depending what you want. they don’t have a whole wide selection but who cares! Again, Aunty is so sweet and even brought out some food for free!!! I was the d-squared so I ordered a soda and she was so kind as to refill mines after I was all done. she came around making sure we were all ok and had everything we wanted. Great place and great atmosphere. I can’t wait to come back!

Unilocal 365 challenge #83/365 i have to say… i didn’t want to write this review… because i didn’t want everyone taking over this new gem that i found… but Unilocal is about sharing… so i’m going to share. :D this is a difficult place to find… i had to gps it… still couldn’t find it… went around the block a few times and still passed it… finally had to call the place and get directions… and still had a lil difficulty. FiNALLY i found the place. my crown is $ 6 a pop :( so normally i wouldn’t visit this place often… BUT! mama seriously does hook it up… with the LOAD of yummy food… not just pupus BUTFOOD… meat jun, fish cakes, fries, eggs, noodles… for how much?! nada. she has a menu posted up… but no one orders from there… no one needs to. yes, i read the reviews about food, but i figured that would be reserved for her regulars… but we were there for the first time and she just loaded us up! LOVEIT! it has a bit of a dive feel. i like it. two dartboards, two pool tables, a jukebox, megatouch, and singing… there is the load of singing :) the patrons here sing«i love this bar» and after being there once, you will too!!!

You gots to be into neighborhood/dive bars OR in the mood to be somewhere«inconspicuous» definitely not part of the«scene» like MaiTais or The Shack which there is nothing wrong with those places but you know there are times when you ‘ono for some fried aku and there are times when you ‘ono for some egg rolls… you try and figure that analogy out… It was cool, kinda nostalgic and the regulars there reminded me little bit of the kine older people laid back«aunty» and«uncle» kine. There was a small bar with bar stools, a couple of pool tables, juke box, monitors for karaōke and a few long luau tables. Laid back atmosphere. One of highlights is the women’s bathroom, clean and decent… not at all like how you would expect a neighborhood bar bathroom would look like or smell like. Location is a plus for me because I live close by. Convenient and fun, so if you live in the area: «don’t be shy, give it a try…»

Finding a good hang out on a Friday night(besides the mall and Starbucks) lead me to this gem of a place that’s located in Kaimuki town. Right along 9th Avenue and Waialae Avenues, this place is located in the back of Town restaurant. This place has a good vibe and I am glad I could stop by. If I got hammered, I could just walk back home to get sober(I didn’t). It’s definitely a whole in the wall business, if you are not looking for it, especially when its nestled in Kaimuki town, where most of Kaimuki is basically a residential subdivision. I stepped into this place, but it had that vibe that makes me want to stay and just hang out. Love the casual atmosphere, without having to be a full on bar scene. This is probably the half way point I was desiring between restaurant /bar to full on bar — at least that’s how I viewed it. The owner is nice and inviting. This place has good food and the prices are reasonable! I felt comfortable in this place, and that’s what made it fun. I am glad I got to be here and I am grateful that they are in Kaimuki town and I live nearby, so the parking situation can be a non-issue. For you who drive, the most you can do is just find parking along the side streets. Good luck with that though. Its kind of a challenge, but it will be well worth it. I enjoyed the free pupus, so that awesome. They open to 2am, so I could hang out there more if I wasn’t traveling so much. But it is what it is. I’ll be back! The pricing was comparable to where I have been, and they do go the extra mile for you when you want a specific drink. They have a full bar and have most imports. The pool table scene can be outrageous, but it’s all in good fun. I just like to people watch sometime, without really thinking about problems at work and errands I need to do in the coming days. It’s just nice to get away for a while and fill your brain with liquid dreams. B+

Mama always hooks it up over here. free pupu’s, friendly people– never seen a fight break out here. pool tables are fast, bar size. touch screen juke box, karaōke, and if you come on the right day you might get some fresh fish caught, cleaned and cooked by the local fisherman. free. stop by on fridays if ur around my age(22) to start off the night, or to wind down after a crazy one. open till 2 ;)

Gooood grinds… fo-real…a must try dive bar! Never mind what people say try this place! its a straight up dive bar, hole in the wall but a great find! ok so they don’t have all the beer and liquor you would want and its not a fully stocked bar but they know how to treat customers! We were given free pupus and that was a plus! They even went out to get the drink i requested. They went above and beyond to make us happy and that’s what counts, businesses should be all like this!

Aloha Lounge, located on the back side of Town Restaurant in Kaimuki. Its your typical neighborhood«local» bar with pool tables, darts, karaōke and alcohol. I had some crazy nights here as my friends are«regulars» here since they live so close. Aunty is great and she is always willing to cook up some pupu’s for you to eat. It’s funny how you can end up here after dinner and still eat more. The beer is cheap, Karaōke is $ 1 but its the company that you surround yourself with that makes it fun.

Everyone I take there loves this place, and beer is CHEAP! Beer is $ 3 – 5, that alone makes this place worth going to. Yeah it’s not as fancy as The Villa or Pearl, but compared to other places of similar style(Duck Butt, Kaimuki Grill, Top of the hill, etc) it’s awesome and that’s why I give it 5 stars. Many people don’t know about this place because it’s not facing the street or any other businesses. If you know where the Town restaurant on 9th and Waialae in Kaimuki is just go to the back of the building, that’s also where you’ll find the parking. Olivia, the Korean mama-san owner, is the nicest person in the entire bar industry. She greets everyone with a smile, makes sure everyone is happy, and often gives out a lot of samples of her great food. The food she makes is random, sometimes steak, pork chops, meat jun, fish jun, noodles, mandoo, fish, etc. Mostly Korean food. All of it is excellent. Karaōke selection is like your typical bar selection, not as spectacular as 9th Ave Rock House(other side of the building, also awesome and cheap), but good enough to satisfy anyone. The place is much cleaner than you would expect, still see the occasional roach but no broken seats or gaping holes like some other places. I like this place so much I had one of my birthday parties there :)

Went there for the 1st time last night. My boyfriend and I have been wanting to check this place out for a while – we’ve heard quite a few different things about this place and know several people who frequent here.(And we live nearby.) This place isn’t the easiest place to find. It’s behind Town, next to a hair salon on 9th and Waialae. Parking is scanty, but we didn’t need to drive. …So «yay» for that. Aloha Lounge is bigger than I thought. It fits 2 pool tables, a pretty decent-sized bar, a kitchen, and a good amount of tables and chairs. The owner is Olivia Mama. And for a Mama, she is so down-to-Earth and nice! I mean, she must be because she has a lot of regular house-customers. We were so fortunate to sample the cooked fish last night. It was über tasty and *moist*(that’s a nasty word, sorry). I don’t remember what kind of fish she said it was, but it was GOOD. Now that I’ve actually gotten a chance to sample this place, I’m hooked. Stay tuned for my update :)
