BBHI is serving up some pretty tasty burgers at a little higher price. I stopped by this afternoon at the KCC farmer’s market to give it a shot. I ended up ordering a Bacon Swiss Avocado burger, since I’m a big sucker for avo. This burger, along with their«specialty»(bleu cheese/arugula/vinaigrette) and bacon/mushroom/swiss are now $ 8, while the«1K,» a cheeseburger with thousand island, was $ 7. Combo with chips and drink was $ 12, which just seemed way too pricey to me. Service was fast, the lady taking orders was very polite, and they even wrapped my burger in foil to go. The burger was quite good. I generally shy away from places that tout«Big Island Beef,» because the chefs seem to get it in their head that high quality beef doesn’t need seasoning. Well, I’m happy to report that the BI Beef here was well seasoned and cooked to a nice medium rare. It had adequate moisture and wonderful flavor. The veggies were really nice as well, big slices of onion, tomato, and lettuce that were all bright and fresh. If you’re not a big fan of raw onion though, you may want to watch out for the thick onion slices. The bacon was also thick, not super crispy but delicious and salty enough to taste with everything else. The bun was bigger than the burger, but crisp on the bottom and soft in the middle. The avocado was of course, creamy and amazing. For all these fresh ingredients, the price isn’t as exorbitant as many people might make it out to be. Food trucks have evolved in the past decade, striving to bring gourmet dining experiences outside of the traditional sit down environment. BBHI is a great example of that, with fresh ingredients and great service. Again, I wouldn’t spend $ 8 on a burger every day, but the next time I’m in the area I’ll definitely stop by.

As I was walking around the Kapolei Lofts Eat the Street, I was getting hungry from all the various food truck vendors. BBHI or Beyond Burgers HI caught my attention with their Portobello Mushroom Burger. Yes! There was no one else in line(lucky me). I stepped up to order and the cashier greeted me with a smile. I asked for the Portobello Mushroom Burger and I saw the cook get right to work. The cashier asked if I wanted to get the chips and drink for an extra charge; I declined. She smiled throughout, so no hard sell. Thanks for that. My burger came quickly. It was served on a smaller plate. The burger took up all the plate. That kind of sucked as I was eating and walking at the same time.(I am not that coordinated sometimes.) I didn’t receive any napkins when the cashier handed me my burger. I didn’t see any on the table, so not sure what happened with that. Good thing I had some from another vendor. Now on to the burger! It had no taste! And that makes me sad because I really LOVE burgers. Yes, I get that mine was a portobello mushroom burger, but I have had it from other places that were excellent. The bun was cold and a little hard. I like mine warm and soft. The veggies were good, though. Maybe I got them on an off day? In any case, I’m not sure if I will ever encounter them again, as I don’t often come out to Kapolei, but I may give them another chance but not with the portobello mushroom burger. (16)

So I almost don’t want to write a review because I Love this place so much and don’t want long lines, but I’ve waited long enough and the time has come! When I first tried this place it was over a year ago and My husband and I had their burgers. Uhhhh yum! Top notch! One of the best on the island! We found ourself a looking for them at every event we went to(art and flea, farmers markets etc.) Then we had their Mexican food…(Wednesday’s at blaisdale) now being Puerto Rican and born and raised in Los Angeles I take Spanish/Mexican food very seriously. I’m pretty sure I have tasted every Mexican food place on the island. I fell in love. I want to say we have chatted with the owner a few times, but maybe is just head chef? Who ever he is, He is such a Cool dude and you can tell loves to make people happy with his yummy food! My family makes it a point to visit the Wednesday’s farmers market every week for our Mexican fix. Even in I’m jumping out of the car to get 2 burritos to go. We go every week! We’ve recently stopped eating meat so we no longer get burgers but we still chow down on the yummy meatless burritos. A tip. ** And probably one of my favorite things about this spot. The SALSABAR not only is it free but it’s so delicious. Who thought you could take a perfect burrito and make it even better with the yummy salsa here in Hawaii.

These are thee best — and when I say best I mean it! Most quality, home-made burgers in Hawaii. The owner John is one of the hardest workers I know, considering that I worked there for a year. Hands down, tastiest burger in Hono.

Burgers aren’t too bad here. I like that they’re local grass fed beef that doesn’t cost you a ton. I’ve had burgers cost me $ 10+ that haven’t tasted near decent. I tried the bacon Swiss avocado and it was pretty good. It is a little junk that there’s no fries but at least it was a good burger. I’ve tried their drinks before and those are good.

My wife stood in line for 45 minutes. She paid $ 8 for my burger, no fries, no drink. I took one bite of my burger. I threw it away. It was dry, tasteless, and a huge disappointment. The only positive: my server wad beautiful. Thanks honey! Let’s go to Burger King or something.

I waited patiently and anxiously in line at Eat the Street Ewa for 45 minutes plus. Since this place got rave reviews, I was saddened that my expectations weren’t met. My burgers were dry and overcooked. The bun was stale and the toppings were scarce. I got the specialty burger that supposedly had Bleu cheese and carmelized onions. I also tried the 1K. The cheese wasn’t melted. Maybe there were very little toppings because my order was written down wrong and they had to remake my burger. Those who know me, know that I have a burger addiction. So when my friends saw me take two bites and head towards the trash can, they were astonished. At a whopping $ 8 a burger I wanted an instagram/yelp worthy picture, but all you could see was bun and dry meat. They weren’t offering burritos that evening. In all fairness, maybe they were having an off day or maybe they were hustling too fast to focus on quality of the burger so they could keep up with the long line of customers. One positive is that the service was very friendly. They were apologetic and right on it to correct the mistakes made with my original burger. I was also contacted by the business owner with an apology for receiving a mediocre burger and that he would promise a better burger next time. I think I’ll take him up on that offer, so be on the look out for an update.

I am such a fan of these guys after having them twice, once at a church event, once at the Moiliili summer fest… I loved it because usually having a cheap hot dog or burger from a food truck on a fun night out means junk food! BUT these are the best hot dogs and burgers you can get… and at such reasonable prices! My 2 year old daughter absolutely loved them too! She chomped down more than half of the burger we were sharing, and the next time I got her her own hot dog which I thought I would end up getting some of after a few bites… I barely got one bite, it was gone, and not just the hot dog but the bun, bacon, and lovely topping of sliced onions and peppers topped with homemade aioli. She devoured it all like I never feed her!(I do…) Anyway, these are definitely beyond your burger from jack in the box. Love jack’s but would take this burger any day.

«BBHI» …“Beyond Burgers or Burgers and Burritos Hawaii” depending whether they are in Burger Mode or Taco and Burrito Mode. Venue: Under a tent/tarp at various farmers markets, plus«Eat the Street Kakaako», Eat the Street Kapolei and Manoa Night Out – University Avenue Baptist Church on Oahu. This includes the FM at the Blaisdell, Mililani, KCC(tuesday only), Kailua Town and St. Clements, Makiki. Plus, «2nd’s at Leilehua» event in Wahiawa. …Whew! They are busy. Check their FB page for the latest appearances. Where’s the Beef: Apparently they specialize in grass fed Big Island beef burgers with bacon and other goodies. I didn’t try those. Tacos and Big Burritos: They also do taco and big burrito appearances. That is what I encountered at the Blaisdell Farmers Market. It seemed to be pretty popular too as they were selling out of ingredients. In fact they had sold out of the meats and cheese. All they had left was ingredients for a vegan burrito. So I walk up and ask for a vegan burrito with no meat and no cheese or sour cream. The lady and the cook said«OK» we can do that! I got the largest and almost the best burrito that I have ever eaten on Oahu. Amazing! I couldn’t even eat the whole thing in one sitting. Look at my pictures. The photo is the part I couldn’t eat! 4.5 stars on the«Big Burrito»!!! Price $ 6!!! Salsa: One of the secrets of a great vegan burrito is taste and moisture. Salsa is a key ingredient here. BBHI has a tray of all you can eat fresh homemade salsas to choose from. Vegan Burrito Challenge: So I’ve been eating burritos the last month while looking for the best meatless burritos. This, is clearly one of the best around Oahu.

I remember when they first started out at Farmer’s market. I also remembered trying them for a work-related training day and then stumbling on the same place a few years later. The customer service is superb. They made the burger in a timely manner. I could tell that the ingredients they used – swiss cheese, avocado(centered in the bun), bacon, onion, herbs, and medium-rare burger on a bun was all fresh ingredients. Yet, I wished the burger had more of a crunchy outer texture. I also wished the bacon was in smaller and easier to eat pieces than a long strip because it got disappointing to pull out the bacon instead of eating it with the entire burger. Overall, I say these burgers are slightly above average, but I wouldn’t come again.

Got to try Beyond Burgers at Manoa Night Out – University Avenue Baptist Church hosts a food truck/stand the first Sunday of the month from 4 — 6 pm in their parking lot. We sat enjoying the rays of the late afternoon sun with a nice Manoa breeze to cool us off. For the vegetarians they had a portabello mushroom burger, for the carnivores there was local beef topped with bacon, swiss, and mushrooms or avocado. Also popular were the bacon wrapped hot dogs and lemonades. Burgers are juicy and a great value at $ 8 a piece. The raw onion had a bite, the cheese and dressing were rich and creamy, the beef and bacon shone through, and the arugala and tomato added freshness. It’s a well balanced burger, not heavy or clunky. If you come across Beyond Burgers give them a chance, this couple is working hard to give you a better burger.

I went to the Makiki farmers market with my boyfriend and dog. While we were there, I wasn’t sure what I wanted to eat so we walked around the whole market trying to decide. I chose to eat at Beyond Burgers HI thanks to Kim C.‘s review because she has excellent taste in food. I decided to try their speciality burger($ 7.50) that has blue cheese, caramelized onions, arugula, grass fed beef hamburger patty and garlic aoil. I didn’t have to wait long to get my order. My burger was pretty small but what it lacked in size, it made up with in flavor. It was the juiciest, tender and flavorful burger I ever had. I let my bf have a couple bites and he thought it was delicious as well. I can’t wait to come back next week to try the other foods they have on their menu. They have bacon wrapped hot dogs, lots of different burgers and fresh fruit infused lemonades which are delicious as well.

My Husband, Baby and I eat at their stand every Sunday morning at the Mililani Farmers Market. Its fresh, quality food being prepared and served by a Family. These are gourmet Burgers, made with grass fed beef, local greens and homemade sauces. I enjoy the Specialty Burger with blue cheese and special sauce. The Burgers are delicious and just the right size to satisfy you, but still leaves you with room to try a hot dog or our favorite breakfast Burrito. Price is on par with the product. You pay for quality in anything you buy, food is no exception. We enjoy this every Sunday morning, and knowing we are supporting a local — family owned business is a good feeling in the heart.

Great burger, cold lemonade and quick service! Live music with tons of lawn seating. So bring a towel or a lawn chair, sit back and enjoy. But don’t worry, if you forgot your mat, they have some for you to borrow!

I’ve only tried Beyond Burgers Hawaii once. My experience was the miniature version at «Eat The Street» — Kaka’ako! Well, y’know that old saying… «Big things come in small packages…» Or, something like that! Whatever. It was Eat The Street– Bacon! So, basically foods with a bacon theme! Gosh! What should I get? Hmmm, after circling the lot twice I decide to get the Beyond Burgers Bacon Burger! Yup, that sounds yummy! But why so cheap at only $ 7 for a gourmet burger? Score! Then it comes to me and it’s like half the size!!! Oh, that’s why! But… What it lacked in size it BAM’d! In taste! Yes, the burger was delicious! The 5oz. of grass-fed, no hormones beef is smothered with taste, bleu cheese, applewood smoked bacon, caramelized onions, arugula and aioli on a grilled gourmet bun. Yes, it’s smaller than I would like, but it’s oh so delicious! I keep reminding myself that I only paid $ 7 + no tax for this tease of a burger! Sadly, I destroyed it in three bites! The lemonade I ordered with the burger was freshly squeezed and mingled well with such a yummy burger! I believe Beyond Burgers Hawaii is still only available at events and farmers markets. So, follow them on Instagram or Facebook for more real-time info. BBH also offers a bacon wrapped hotdog, which is very popular too, maybe I’ll try it one day, but for now I’ll stick with the yummy miniature burger! $ 7 for a gourmet burger? Not a bad deal… I’ll make sure to drop by next time. Just wish I had three more bites worth! OVERALLGRADE: 4.4-STARS! *****This review is part of my Burger series list. This review isn’t from me(vegetarian), but rather my boyfriend who ADORES these burgers. The smell alone will draw you in(fresh beef, onions, and bell peppers cooking-drooool), and considering they are freshly cooked using grass-fed beef, the pricing is reasonable. According to the bf, these taste like no other burger you can find here, and their bacon-dogs are spot-on too. Also, their lemonades are wonderful and refreshing! We usually find them at Eat the Street. The service is always friendly despite the fact that they are usually swamped with hungry people. You can tell these people work hard, and they make some amazing food!

My favorite place to pick up food at the Makiki Farmers market that is at St. Clements every Thursday. I think I’ve seen them at eat the streets also :) I order the specialty burger. For the size it’s quite pricy — $ 7. Very delicious. I am craving it just talking about it. The caramelized onions, Bleu cheese and the beef… man. Its delicious. Because of the size(and because I’m such a big eater) I add on a side of Mac & Cheese for $ 1 more.

As I walked through the line up of Eat the Street at Kapolei, I was determined to try some place that I never bit into before. The Reason I tried this place… You may think it was the sweet smell of the caramelized onions wafting through the air or the handmade juicy moist burgers that beckoned me to try this place. It could have been that girl who walked past me with her mouth open wide welcoming that long B-A-C-O-N wrapped hot dog into her mouth. With each swallow she uttered moans of great pleasure. No, it wasn’t that size 0 girl making love to her hot dog that got me. It was the mommy who was hustling, taking orders and preparing drinks. Get this, with a baby strapped on to her back. This is the kind of local business that I want to support. I just got a real huge soft spot for hardworking mommies. Girl, this place brought the juicy, succulent, party in my mouth. I was brought to the enlightenment of burger bliss. One bite of the 5oz. Specialty Burger got me moaning all kinds of stuff. Here’s a picture of my lover ;) It went down great with my strawberry lemonade. This place has a Facebook page if you want to find out where they are and I scored a $ 1 off when I showed the worker that I liked their page on my iPhone. Search for them under Beyond Burgers Hi. Beyond burgers uses local produce and grass-fed beef. Their toppings are homemade and it will surely take your taste buds to a different level. Oh, Beyond Burger, I can’t wait to get my mouth around you again.
