I’ve been only seeing this Dr for about 4 months and I am very unhappy with his service. He keeps referring me out to other drs because he «dont feel confortable» prescribing it to me. Like seriously, thats total BS. I have been taking my meds for the last 5 years and this is the first dr that tells me that. The receptionist, stupid Portuguese lady, is one of the rudest medical staff i met. She has no sense of knowledge in medical terminology. She is very rude, hard of hearing, & just plain ugly! I wanted to sock her in the face during my last & final visit. She is also the reason why i am leaving this drs office. The medical assistant, kim, is very nice. I feel bad that she has to work with a dr that keeps referring his patients out to another dr and working with an ugly fat rude receptionist. I hope she finds another job elsewhere that will have better review and nicer staff. I highly DONOT recommend this doctor.

I’ve been seeing Dr. Cao for over 3 years and I find him to be very professional and knowledgeable. Yes, this good doctor can be selective as most Honolu, u internal medicine doctors will be in today’s challenged times with health care reform. Thank your health insurance companies… You ever wonder why most doctors are over extended. Being a former pharmaceutical rep in this territory, I’ve been in 100s of doctor offices around Honolulu and Maui and know what to expect. I believe Dr. Cao is the few remaining doctors that takes the time with the patient and does not seem to be rushing around because the waiting room is overcrowded and the nurse and/or office receptionist pushes him. Even my daughter’s pediatrician and my wife’s OB-GYN are not accepting new patients, by referral only. And you know what, it’s fine by patients like me who have decent medical coverage, higher options with HMAA/HMSA(ouch on my paycheck). It’s sad that today’s insurance companies will dictate what you can and cannot be eligible, who you should see, what generic(not the good stuff) drugs to take, etc. e.g. sad that your doctor may have a good drug for your symptoms but the insurance company will not pay for it as much. «not covered».

horible! I found this doctor through my list of Providers for my insurance, which said they were accepting new patients. I called and the receptionist answered which I asked if she was taking new patients and she said yes but had to check with doctor on my insurance plan. She called back and said that the doctor does not take my insurance, yet the doctor is on my insurance provider list. She then said sorry we are not taking any new patients! wow how RUDE that she had to Lie to me! So far this is a horrible experience and for that matter do not go to this cold physician! go to someone that cares and takes the time to try and solve the situation. I wish I could give no stars!

Dr. Cao is extremely knowledgeable and kind. He’s always going above and beyond to make sure you’re ok — booking you a follow-up visit just in case you’re still not feeling better after taking whatever antibiotics he prescribes. He’s always very friendly and in a good mood. The parking lot has an attendant and there’s always ample parking. His office is located on the 3rd floor — elevator available. To sum it up, Dr. Cao and his staff are wonderful. Always go there and leave knowing I’m in good hands. :)

Been seeing Dr. Cao since my Doctr retired. Is very caring of his patients and seems to take a proactive approach to treating his patients. Love going to him…
