I don’t usually go to McDonalds, but when I do its because my family and I spent the past 8 – 9 hours boxing and moving stuff out of our house for fumigation. Around 12:30am, my mom and I went through the drive thru at this particular McDonalds to order something that would hopefully replenish all the calories we had just burned. Note that the Palolo McDonalds is ALWAYS crowded, even during late night hours, so we were stuck waiting in the drive thru line for a good 5 minutes. You’re only allowed to get to the drive thru by turning right into it from Waialae Ave… no left turns into the driveway are allowed(which means you must be headed in the ewa direction)! Anyway, we ordered a bunch of stuff to bring back for the rest of the family, paid for it, and left. Not that much of a hassle… until we got home. Lesson of the night was to make sure you check your orders before leaving the parking lot! We didn’t realize until we got home that they had left out the apple pies my mom ordered. As soon as we realized this, we called them to see what we could do since we were charged for the pies but didn’t receive them. It was a little difficult to understand the lady on the phone because of all the background noise, but she took down my name and said we could come back whenever we want to pick up the pies. I wrote down her name as well as the time/date of our conversation on our receipt just to be safe. Fast forward a few weeks, and I found myself with my mom running errands in Kaimuki. We decided to go through the drive thru to see if we could actually get our«free»(already paid for) pies. We ordered them at the menu window, and then as we pulled up to the cashier explained our situation. The cashier was a little confused, but eventually understood and did not charge us for our order. I made sure to count the number of pies just so we wouldn’t have to come back again, and we were all set! Although it was a little irritating that they left out a part of our order, I was really impressed that they had good service over the phone and corrected the situation by letting us come back to pick up our missing items on a later date. Hopefully they can get future orders correct, but its good to know I can always call if they forget or miss something! TL;DR — no left turns off Waialae into the drive thru, always crowded, and don’t forget to check your orders!

I am watching my blood pressure so I asked for a large fries with no salt. I got a half full heavily salted fries. So I called and they yelled at me like I did something wrong. And these people want to be paid 15 bucks an hour. Huge eye roll. This MD is NOT recommended.

Typically this place is fast in service, but lately looks like staff turn over occurred. There is no sense in urgency during night shifts. Workers make eye contact with customers and return back to their task with minimal effort to approach and offer to take the order. A major pet peeve is when order is inaccurate. Even after worker repeated my «special» order, it came out wrong??? How is 1 McDbl plain with only slivered onions the same as 1 McDbl plain with only ketchup. After a long day(630am-930pm), trying to grab a bite to eat should be satisfying, but unfortunately this messed up order incident occurs. A competent worker is an efficient worker which the service provided was neither. My visit was disappointing and getting home with something I did not order can cause irritation. I’m in the area often, so will need to pursue other take out restaurant options. McDonald’s motto should be more aligned to Burger King… «have it your way…»

Always crowded with rude school kids or full of homeless harassing you for money or just taking up space. The parking is a hassle. Last week, after breakfast, I took my coffee cup up(with a little coffee still in it) and stated, «Before I leave, can I get a refill?» The girl took my cup, looked in it, stood there, and then said, «What?!» Another girl had to tell her, «Coffee.» Then she looked at me, laughing, and said, «She’s training.» I didn’t think it was funny. I’ve posted a picture of the ceiling tile near the cashiers that is wet, swollen, and has black mold. Don’t think I’ll be going there any more.

I got iced coffee from here. There wasn’t one, but there were 5 flies in my drink. This place is gross.

A typical McDonald’s, though a little nicer due to pleasing landscaping surrounding the establishment. The drive-thru is slower than usual, but the staff are friendly and efficient.

I’m hooked on dip cones right now… Aina Haina has them for $ 1.29, but this one is for $ 1.69…it was fine. I could go through the drive through and they make it good so it doesn’t melt immediately… Kalihi had the biggest one for the same price and so does the McCully McD’s…can you tell I’m hooked… until the next obsession hits!

Love McDonald’s fried I can’t lie, but there’s always a problem with the line. I think they need to define where to stand and wait in line. Is it one line? Or two? As always mcdonalds food is fast and good tasting. Parking is limited and ime is always long.

They really need to put a menu that you can see before you order! I hate to keep the person behind me waiting for me to look, at the menu to see what I want I am talking about the drive throw

Is it a good day or is it a bad day? This McDonald’s is a hit or miss. Sometimes its good and sometimes it’s bad. Much like it’s drive through line. Sometimes it’s 5 minutes sometimes it’s 35 minutes. This is supposed to be fast food. There are times where I have upgraded a evm and still end up with a medium fries. They’ve forgotten certain items. I only go here because it’s convenient. Tip: This McDonalds is 24 hours but I heard they don’t serve filet or fish after midnight.

I only gave one star for the following reasons: Once in a blue moon they get my order right and once in a blue moon do I get good customer service! The dining area is relatively clean and they are conveniently open 24 hrs. Hold on… Here comes the other reasons: 1. Their customer service sucks. To order something as simple as a number one or even a breakfast burrito seems to be too complex for some of their employees. Be ready to repeat your order 20 times before they get it right. And by the time they get it right, be prepared to be too frustrated to eat. Hold on there’s more… 2. When you get your order. Be prepared to check if everything is correct. 8 out of 10 times they mess it up… And theeeeennnn… 3. When you let them know something is wrong they give YOU attitude even if you let them know nicely!!! I will say… Today’s experience was a bit of a mix too. The line was long but their soft drinks machine was broken… So when I left the drive thru and my drink tasted funny. I went back and had to wait. The cashier and the girl at the window apologized. And I got a different drink… The drink again tasted bad!!! If the machine is bad do not keep serving drinks! I even asked what flavors were available before I got the replacement drink. At this point it doesn’t seem going back for a damned drink. This McDonalds used to have such good service a few years back… Now I’m not so sure. Back then it was more like 2 out of 10 times might get my order wrong or something… But not as ruude as some of the cashiers are! And last warning… If you plan to go through in the late hours — don’t… Save your nerves and go to the one in King Street instead.

Im here all the time. Dont judge me. Its 2 minutes away from my house and… my daughter loves happy meals. Sadly, this is the worst McDonalds location on the island in my opinion. My order is incorrect nearly 80% of the time. I wish I could say I was exaggerating, but unfortunately Im not. Take last night for example. I ordered a large coke, large iced tea and a small fries. Seems easy enough right? Nope! There was a total of maybe 3 cars in the drive through and only 2 – 3 people actually in the restaurant… yet, I was given a large DIET coke and the girl forgot my fries. She hands me the drink and says, «Thank you, come again!». Um, fries?
There were clearly more employees working than there were customers ordering yet somehow my order was too difficult. What gets me heated the most is the attitude you get when you complain. Excuse me? Dont take that accusatory tone with me like it was MY fault you cant do the simple task of putting french fries in a bag. I hate this McDonalds, but I hate myself more for continuing to go here because its convenient. Bottom line… check your bags before you drive/walk away and if youre planning on complaining… be prepared to be told that its YOUR fault they forgot the ketchup. When is Unilocal going to make negative stars an option?

I wish I could give NO stars after our experience today. My mom & her husband drove thru here to pick up lunch before coming to my house for a visit. They ordered 5 McChicken burgers, 5 cheeseburgers, a 20pc McNugget &3 large fries. Sadly they didn’t check the bags before leaving & when they got to my house, we were missing the 5 McChicken burgers. My mom called right away to make a complaint & was asked what was missing from her order. When she told the female worker on the phone(I think she said her name was Lorna), she was informed«THATSTOOMUCHSTUFFTOBEMISSING». EXCUSEME??? Are you f***ing kidding me!!! Are you guys implying we were LYING??? She then proceeded to ask my mom, several times, if she had received THREE bags(my mom had only received two), put us on «hold» twice & then finally asked if we were still in the area. This is the way they run their business yet they think they are entitled to $ 15+/hr? We never even received a single apology or admittance that they messed up. I consider myself a regular at this McDonalds & I will NEVER return here & am not ashamed to say I will bad-mouth them to everyone I know.

McDonald’s really is a normal McDonald’s — except for the location. You know something is wrong when the front door is located on the front of the building when it is on a McDonald’s — Notice almost always on purpose the doors on a McDonald’s are always on the sides and never facing the front counter like normal restaurants. Why? so that you don’t get discouraged by seeing a line. So when the door is on the front then you do know that there is something so wrong with the location that the land itself that it is placed on has some flaw. That is what is up with this location. This McDonald’s has a hard time with people trying to get in and park or get in and go through the drive through. The space is on a busy street. Be ready at rush hours for a hard time parking or drive through. It is located near both Catholic and normal public schools — so there can be a rush when students get out of school for their meal before tutoring/sports/or other normal activities. So be warned. There is normal self serve drinking soda machine like in typical McDonald’s. Service is typical McDonald’s. Food is typical McDonald’s. Bathroom is typical McDonald’s. Seating is typical McDonald’s– and things can happen that you want to take take out. Menu is typical McDonald’s. Other than the location and streetwise issues its typical McDonald’s.

Closest Mcdonalds to the Hilton Hawaiin Village(where I usually stay) All I can say is Portuguese Sausage, Egg, and Cheese sandwich for breakfast, and Haupia Pies. Why doesn’t the mainland do like a, «around the world» special, where they features items from other McDonalds they don’t offer normally? I’d be in everyday.

Fast service/drive-thru! :) there were no cars at about 10am but good for us! Ordered some late breakfast we were good to go! They have two lanes for drive-thru for peak busy hours, that’s always a good thing.

By far, the best McDonald’s in town. They are super busy especially during lunch and after school. However the staff is always friendly, fast and I especially like how the restaurant is always clean with no funky smells like some other locations. The only concern I have is their drive through. It is right off of Waialae and like some others can cause major traffic. Other than that, it’s a great, clean location

I often use the McDonald to grab a cup of morning coffee or some fast simple foods, but this Waialae McDonald seems to be located very inconvenient and busy area. If you drive from West to East bound on Waialae Avenue, No left turn is allowed, and you end up with turning around several blocks down to finally reach to the McDonald. More worse now with the road construction on Waialae ave. I ended up with traffic and wasted more than half hour just for a cup of coffee in rushing morning. Next time, I’ll just stop by 7 Eleven which is much closer and convenient to in & out.
