It’s something about buying your food from a small shop that makes me happy. I recently got the egg sandwich and some muffins.(The banana chocolate chip one was good.) I enjoyed my food and would love to go back to try their sprinkle scones. I don’t know what they have it, so I guess I’ll just have to keep going back!

Sooo I am one of the fortunate and few who gets to eat Gooch’s aka Mark Noguchi of Pili Group food on a regular basis at Lunch Box at Hawaiian Airlines. But I love his food so much and him as well that I had to come down to Snack Box to eat too. He has popups every now and then. The most recent was one with Christopher Sy who is a bread making genius. The croissants were gone in minutes! There’s sandwiches, wraps, salad in a jar and some specials every now and then. He also usually does things for Night Market which is a monthly thing. Kimberly Oi is usually here and the mastermind behind the scones which change daily and are delicious. This place is located in Pad, so stop by and grab a bite or just say hi and hopefully Gooch is there. Gooch for mayor :)

When I heard the news that Mark Noguchi had opened up Snackbox, a kiosk inside Pad Hawaii, I made it a point to go. I had been late to the party with Taste Table, his former venture and his other kitchen, Lunchbox is closed to Hawaiian Airlines employees(although I did finagle an invite). It was perfect timing for me when Snackbox hosted a bake shop collaboration with BreadShop this past Saturday. I heard they would be making 150 pieces for the pop-up and when I got there an hour after it started, there were only a dozen or so pieces left. I considered myself lucky not to walk away empty handed. I left with BreadShop baker Christopher Sy’s spinach taegu and sesame croissants and Kimberly Oi’s scones: sprinkles, strawberry basil and lemon mint. I really loved the creaminess of the sesame filling inside the croissant and my kids practically inhaled the sprinkles scones. The scones had a nice texture and the flavor was not overpowering. I also tried Snackbox’s Olena lemonade which was served in a mason jar with fresh fruit. We all loved it! Very refreshing. Don’t miss out, they will only be around until January.

Gooch is back!!! Located inside a furniture store(PAD) towards the back you’ll find Mark«Gooch» Noguchi’s Snackbox. If you haven’t notice that Kakaako is changing ever so swiftly then you might not be so creative. Kidding. But it is growing. Snackbox currently has a limited menu with more to follow soon, but I was intrigued with the idea of a salad in a jar. Especially knowing I can buy the jar(great idea). Tucked inside this tall jar, they have greens, rice puffs, carrots & cucumbers. Topping your salad is a container of a vinaigrette dressing. I poured it into the jar and what an experience. Like a child playing with her food I couldn’t wait to place the cover on and SHAKESHAKESHAKE my lunch. I have not had rice puffs in a salad before and what a surprise. The flavors of the dressing with the crunchy rice puffs only made me shovel the salad even faster. Did I enjoy my tall glass of lunch? Of course. Would I go back again? Of course. Am I anxious to try the rest on the menu? Of course. TIP: It’s located next to the liquor store on Auahi. There’s metered parking.
