This location is now CLOSED as well. Very sad, as this was me and my DH’s place for a cheap dinner. You couldn’t beat the huge $ 6.50 platters after 5PM.

I’m so sad the Taco del Mar at Ward closed. It was my standby for lunch and sometimes dinner! The staff was friendly, the food was always good… much better than the one at the mall. So after the one at Ward closed, I went back to this Taco del Mar at the Ala Moana Mall. BOO! Their taco shells taste like they’ve been cooked in old oil(I thought they were supposed to be baked?). The meat is less than tasty there. The beans are not soft enough. Not a good experience. I went there on 1÷17÷2012, and they apparently just started charging $ 1 more per item if you want meat other than ground beef. What the heck? Keep in mind, this new policy was not posted anywhere on their wall menus. Why should I be charged more for shredded beef, shredded chicken, or carnitas? I don’t get the ground beef because it has a funky flavor to it, and by funky, I don’t mean good. Pretty distasteful actually. Well needless to say, I was very disappointed, and I left without ordering! Not going back either! I advise everyone to avoid this establishment. There are many better food options at the Ala Moana Mall. Don’t waste your money here.

Tried here for the first time based upon a coworker’s advice. My review is basically what has been stated before, good value and decent food. Everything seems to be pretty fresh and the after 5pm combo deal for $ 6.50 is pretty hard to beat. The only downer were the workers. They seemed to be kinda«bleh» when servicing us. Kinda cracks me up when you ask servers like them questions and they give you that stupid blank look. But they did a decent job putting everything together. Eating area was nice and clean and there are a couple of booths for parties of three to four.

I’ve eaten here a few times. .. They’re nothing special, but they appease the hunger! I went here today with my friend who was picking up food. I just got the rice & beans, which is an AWESOME deal. :) Only $ 2.29! The refried beans were OKAY, they’re not as good as other places I’ve been to, but will do! Once when I got a quesadilla from here, it was HUGE! But it was watery, eww! And it was bland. :(Taco Bell has better quesadillas!

Taco Del Mar is pretty good stuff. People always complain about places on Oahu that are do not serve authentic Mexican food. I could care less and I probably won’t know the difference. I go to Taco Del Mar when I want something good and filling and the food court is just too crazy. They have their own seats in there! I usually get a wet mondito burrito combo. It is mall prices for a pretty good size burrito.

Day 006⁄365 Unilocal Challenge I give this place a 3+ I like the coupons that come in the mail, in the blue Valpak envelope. There always seems to be four Taco Del Mar coupons every month, plus the ones I get from two coworkers. The 2010 Entertainment also has coupons, #D40-D42. There’s also a handy business card drop off at the register, for free food. I don’t have any personal business cards, but I’ve dropped off stacks of business cards that I’ve received from various people and local companies. I didn’t want to just throw them out, so hopefully somebody won something, because I entered them for a free giveaway. I order the cheese quesedilla(sp?) without sour cream and bring my own 32 oz. Jamba Juice plastic cup for drinks. Save the environment, a little.

Is it authentic mexican? No. Is a good burrito? Yeah. A step up from Taco Bell. I like this location because it’s close to my apartment. They charge for refills on their drinks, which is lame(though Dr. Pepper is a +). Service isn’t very great. last girl who served me was kinda skimpy on the burrito. Another plus. Multi-flavors of tabasco(jalapeño and chipotle).

Love this place! Fresh! I find it so hard to find real food these days. This place makes me feel like I’m eating my grandmothers tacos!

I’ve got to say that when I discovered this place, I was expecting some pretty tasty Mexican food. Unfortunately I was disappointed. Initially, i was pleased with what I encountered. The first person who helped me(a guy) was great and the food I saw in the case had promise. Shortly thereafter, I became quite disappointed! The second person who helped me could care less about me and almost threw my food and change at me(she even short changed me when I paid her). She was obviously having a bad day for some reason, but hey… check that outside! When I finally got into my eats, I found the food wasn’t quite as tasty as it looked to me at first. And, contrary to their name, I was disappointed to find that they didn’t have much seafood to offer either… just a fish that the first server didn’t recommend! So, in my opinion this is a place to pass up. If the cashier had a nicer attitude and if they added some tasty seafood options(eg. lime shrimp) together with freshly roasted onions as burrito fill options, this place might earn another star from me. In m opinion, it certainly won’t have a chance to earn another star if that nasty casher is allowed to continue her unpleasant treatment of customers. I hope this place improves for it’s own sake. Right now I’m sorry to say that I am unlikely to return here to find out since there are so many other great places around.

Great location that I didn’t know existed. Perfect to satisfy my burrito cravings when shopping at the mall. This Taco Del Mar is one of the cleanest I’ve been to, and was a little empty when I went on a Monday afternoon. It’s located on the makai side of the first floor by the Makai Market, Sees and Subway. The service and food was good for a typical fast food place. I think the one in Moanalua Shopping Center gives a little more filling, though.
