Loved this event. Took away one star just because of the obvious space issue at Wang Chung’s(for instance, the fact that this one dude standing right next to my bar stool was leaning back onto me for a half hour, which was a little annoying), but other than that this place rocks! So it’s more like a 4.5 stars. Dan the owner is so welcoming and wants to know everyone who comes in and if it’s their first time there, etc. He always has a smile on his face and likes to sing along to the songs as well. That’s another great thing about this place, everyone sings along with whoever is singing karaōke so it doesn’t matter if you don’t want anyone to hear your voice or you’re afraid that you’ll mess up on the lyrics. The joyful singing is so loud that there’s no way anyone is going to be annoyed at you for screwing up a lyric or note, everyone is just happy that you picked«insert song title here» so that they could all join in on singing together. I met many Unilocalers last night, and even got to sing«Hey, Soul Sister»(one of my favorite songs eva’!) with everyone. It was a great time and I can’t wait for the next karaōke event like this. Oh, and since I’m a teetotaler(don’t drink alcohol) I tried one of their juice drinks and ended up going with fresh-squeezed pineapple juice with a hint of grenadine. It was delicious and came with a maraschino cherry on top. All in all this was some good music, tasty drinks, friendly peeps, and a whole lotta fun! Especially when the guy after me sang«Friday» by Rebecca Black! I didn’t even know that song was available at karaōke bars since it’s a joke!

Oh Michael, it has been two years since you’ve left us, yet your music lives on! What better way to celebrate«the man in the mirror» than to sing his music with a group of fellow Unilocalers! To those who braved the parking difficulties known as Waikiki and crowded Wang Chungs: thank you. You guys rocked it out with all the Michael Jackson songs mixed in with a lot of other songs. Wang Chung’s was a great venue for a group to get together and sing some karaōke while enjoying some festive libations. Another great UYE for the community!
