This restaurant has closed. It was great while it was open for after work happy hour and sake bombs.

We went to this place after reading some favorable reviews, but we were none too impressed. The atmosphere was great, and the waitresses were a sight to behold, but unfortunately I was there to eat. It was fairly middling fare, but it wasn’t the freshest sushi I’ve had. The Salmon Roe was also a little too salty, which is, to me, indicative of sushi quality.

I was so happy to have found a great sushi place near my home in West Houston. 713 was a place I took our of town friends because it had a great happy hour and a decent sake selection and the sushi and service was as good as any«downtown» fancy sushi place. That was when it first opened and that is no longer the case. The last time I went with a friend we were seated in the back at a table suited for about 6 people. That seemed odd since there were a lot of nice 4 tops available. Maybe since we weren’t dressed«hip» enough they wanted us away from the bar area where the apple martini drinkers sit. I think they get most of their customers for happy hour and forget there are serious diners who come in for a good meal and top service… which they provided when they first opened. The waitress was pleasant however. But the service was not real smooth with the courses came slowly and the drink orders even slower. The sushi wasn’t nearly as good as it once was. I won’t be back.

At 713 you don’t have to wait for a seat, but you do have to hurry your butt over there before 7pm because that’s when Happy Hour ends! I got there past slightly past 6 with my friend and met Ako. Right off I saw they had Japanese imported beer for $ 3 and large sake bottle for $ 4 dollars. Cha-ching! I ordered 3 pcs of Salmon nigari and 3 pcs of escolar(1.50 ea.). My friend had the apple martini and also their fried shrimp appetizer(it has a fancier name on the menu). She really liked her martini! Our waiter was very nice, and easy on the eyes! I ended up getting 5 sake bombs out of my order and the food was delicious. Escolar is now my 2nd favorite sushi thanks to 713. I love 713 for the relaxing décor and chill atmosphere. It put the 3 of us, who ranged from early 20’s to mid 30’s completely at ease. We ended up staying far later than planned because we became so relaxed and comfortable.

This is strictly for their bar service. I came here on a Wednesday night to meet some girlfriends out for a few cocktails. Since I already indulged in dinner, it was all cocktails for this little lady. A really cool bartender by the name of Federico, «Fed» for short, was waiting on our group of wild gals. The mango martini is a must, potent as it is sweet, fans of all-naturale tasting bevs will like this concoction. There were other items on the menu that caught my attention, mostly the Godiva white chocolate martini. I’m not too much of a white chocolate fan, so I asked for a regular chocolate martini. Darn. They didn’t have the goods to make that. But Fed made it up to me with a round of free shots for our trio. 713 has the trendy sushi bar theme going on, and even on this somewhat slow evening, there was a live DJ playing tunes per our request. B Spears? Oh, yes, he had it. Service all around was great, and menu items seem worth the trip back. Maybe this recourse, forsake pairing dinner they have going on would be a delight.

So it looks super nice at the entrance. We were next door at the Starbucks and decided to stop by by because of the Unilocal reviews. We were very disappointed. We ordered 5 different rolls, and they were not that great. They were pretty small and kind of tasteless. Definitely not worth it for the rather high prices. In short, I would absolutely not ever come back again. There are much better sushi places in Houston. Try Sushi Nikko down on Eldridge.

we went for happy hour, and i was a little sad that the prices weren’t as cheap as i expected. most of the rolls and nigiri sushi were almost full price. EXCEPT for the $ 1.50 spicy salmon roll(with the purchase of another roll). that was really nice. and i liked that the salmon wasn’t all just mushed-up junk that spicy fish rolls normally are — you could actually tell it was salmon :) we also got a sunshine roll which was just alright — could’ve used some sort of sauce bc it was a little bland. the salmon nigiri was ok — the pieces of fish were ok-sized, the texture was ok, and the flavor was ok. just nothing spectacular. but the dragon roll was really yummy — prob my fave of that kind of roll i’ve had in a while :) good eel/avocado/sauce/rice ratio and nice bit of texture with the tempura. and it’s a nice size so that you can stick each piece in your mouth without being embarrassed while chewing it down to a manageable size :) our brownie a la mode was just ok — the brownie was ok in some portions but kind of dry in others. the ice cream was nice, though :) cute little comfortable booth. our waitress wasn’t the best — we had a couple other people come by to clear our table and refill drinks. and it took her a while to come around for our dessert order and to give us our check. but maybe she was just having a bad day. all that to say, i’d go again during happy hour for the dragon roll, spicy salmon roll, and a few more salmon nigiri :) didn’t knock my socks off, but pretty good deal and pretty good sushi.

There’s 2 things that set this place apart from the rest. It’s all about atmosphere and their happy hour schedule. There’s no need for me to write much because every other review is filled with great spot-on details. The sushi menu is nothing special. It’s fresh and prepared well. For some odd reason though about 90% of their specialty sushi rolls seem to be salmon. They have a decent Saki selection but only house wines. In the back there’s a strip mall with a Sherlock’s Pub if you want to continue your drinking binge. Well… I mean… it’s what I would do.

Not a bad sushi place this far out west. The atmosphere has that trendy look you’re seeing in so many sushi places these days, although the crowd is decidedly different than who you’re finding in Soma or Aka nearer in the city. We had a sampling of the usual, a little sashimi and a few rolls. Nothing too spectacular stands out in my mind, although it was all very good. Everything was solidly priced. If you’re looking for the inner city sushi décor but with a more subdued crowd, this is a good place to go.

Good things come to those who wait… that’s bollocks. I should have looked harder! I know I am leaving Houston and am miffed that I find it just now. after all this time. Easy to see how you can miss it tho’. It is next to the Marble Slab Creamery but looked closed when I saw it. Don’t be fooled, it is open! What a ‘bang on’ spot this is. You know how some places just have that ‘chilled’ feel. It is here, Décor is ace and the artwork on the walls is tops. Have posted more pics to give you some idea of the interior. The menu is mainly Sushi/Nagiri/Sashimi but they also have a good choice of fusion and New American dishes Quick scan of the menu and I noted; Bento Box Tonkatsu Fried pork loin with Japanese bread crumb Unaju Grilled fresh water eel My personal choice for you to get you in the mood… Caterpillar Roll Shrimp Fried rice Tempura Banana Lychee Martini… repeat…repeat…repeat.fall down On the last visit for $ 50.27 we had Maine Crab Cake then California Roll Champagne Roll Sweet Shrimp English Roll all washed down with 4 Sapporo Beers. Bargain! Could not fault a single morsel of the food we tried, not a smidgeon. Scrumptious. What sealed it for me was the music they play. We took a pew close by the bar after we ate and had a cocktail or three whilst taking it in. Very Euro club stylee, Ministry of Sound toons & Wigan Pier Bounce Anthems. Well FCUK my old Brown boots. never EVER thought I would find North West England club sound in Houston. Revelation! Take note also, it has no closing time posted… want to know a secret. sorry, i’d have to kill you!

This is one of my favorite Happy Hour venues. It s 5 minutes from work and home so I frequent it at least twice a week for lunch and/or HH. The wait staff are always friendly and know what your preferences are if you’re a regular. They always remember what I order and make it a point to always bring out my sriracha chili with my rolls. They even know how I like to customize my Red Dragon roll with all salmon and no avocado w/o me even requesting it. It’s all about attentiveness and first class service here! Some favorite items are: beef tataki, rib-eye fried rice, dragon, red dragon and spicy salmon crunch roll. Their HH prices are extremely reasonable… hot sakes are only $ 3 a bottle and $ 1.25 nigiri. Their salmon and escalor are always fresh and unagi is perfectly baked so that the skin is slightly crisp. The bartender became one of my good friends and the manager is super friendly… they always know how to make their clients happy.

Just found out(and I’m not sure how long they’ll keep this), but on Monday nights, it’s half price for bottles of wine. So for the price of two glasses, you get the entire bottle. Sign me up for this!

Sushi is one of my favorite foods and this restaurant definitely did not disappoint me. The fish was very fresh and the prices were reasonable. At first I thought $ 2.95 was pricey for miso soup(considering lots of sushi restaurants serve complimentary miso) but when they brought the huge bowl out I thought the price was fine. It’s probably 2 – 3 times the normal serving. I ordered two rolls(unagi/eel and captain crunch salmon), one of which was on the happy hour menu, and both were delicious. The pieces were cut small, which I prefer, so you can enjoy them in one bite rather than trying to bite in to them and having them fall apart! The décor was modern and contemporary. There’s a sign on the door saying proper attire required, however I didn’t feel under dressed in jeans. This place would be great for happy hour with friends or for a dinner date.

This place has a great happy hour and hands down, one of the best looking waitresses for happy hour I’ve ever seen in my life.(Seriously, she’s hot.) The prices are reasonable for sushi as well, but I’ll leave the sushi reviews to those that are serious about sushi. I am a happy hour alcoholic, and I enjoy a deal. The ambiance here is nice, modern, and overall has a good look to it. There is house/techno in the background, but not overly noisy like other places that try to be «cool». I wouldn’t burn gas unnecessarily to get here, but if you find yourself in the area, definitely stop by during happy hour. You’ll be glad you did.

What an unoriginal name. I was hoping 713 had some cool, insightful meaning but I realized it was just the area code for Houston. The food, like the name, lacks orginality. They have the typical sushi rolls(rainbow, dragon, spider, etc). Yawn. They did have a couple that were a bit more innovative like the 713 and the Champagne Roll. A little too freaky for me. Guacamole, cheese and fish just doesn’t mesh well. The place does get points for a rather trendy atmosphere and cheap happy hour. Domestic beers are only $ 2 and premium beers and well drinks are $ 3 from 5−7PM. Not too shabby.

Wow… just wow. I grew up eating sushi. Ive been to almost every sushi restaurant in Houston. None of them impress me the way this place does. Ive never been to a sushi bar where no matter how many times I go, I always try something new. My mouth gets all watery just thinking about it and I just ate there a few hours ago. That is what I mean when I say I always try something new. There are certain types of sushi I would never eat at another sushi bar. Either I distrust their cooking that much, or I had the guts to eat it and it just didn’t taste right. This place does all the sushi right. Every time I go back I always order something new cause I know they will get it right. If your ever in the southwest side of H-town, stop by 713. I dont know what to recommend you though… Its all just so damn good.

I put my faith into my fellow Unilocalers below me and I’m pleased to say that I’m glad I did! We had the pleasure of visiting 713 last night. While we were waiting(not long), we were looking around and saw one of the accolades that the restaurant had put up in the waiting area. The review raved«713 is a New York style restaurant without the attitude!» and boy were they right on the money. We arrived around 8:30 to find a big crowd waiting at the front. Kind of wary, nevertheless, we still went up to the hostess, who informed me that the wait will be 30 minutes. 10 minutes later, we were seated! This place reminds me of Zake because it’s more of a lounge… there was a DJ spinning some house/trance, and in the middle of the restaurant it was laid out like so. There was a tall bar table with stools that people can sit and nosh, along with some lounging couches. In the far end of the restaurant is the sushi bar, and divided from the lounge area were tables and booths. That said… it was NOTHING like Zake( ). It wasn’t obnoxiously loud(though difficult to carry on a conversation quietly), I can STILL see my food, and the crowd was superbly cooler. I didn’t feel like I was in some club where everyone was trying to «dress and impress»(as if the crowd was worth impressing…) and worrying about getting my ass grabbed by some lame middle-aged pervert the next second. We were dressed down in jeans and sweaters and we didn’t feel out of place at all. Anyway, we ordered some miso soup and veggie tempura to start us off. It was surprisingly delicious and tasty, for something that I’ve tasted a million times. I think they added some extra seasoning to the vegetables, and the miso soup was pretty authentic. I ordered the pomegranate martini and the bf had some red wine. I was kind of disappointed by my drink… it didn’t really taste like pomegranate, but more like cherry, probably from the grenadine they used(it even had a cherry in it…). The wine didn’t seem too impressive either. Our entrees came. I had the chirashi, which is basically slices of sashimi in a bowl of rice, and he had the 7−1-trio combo, which had some sashimi, sushi, and California rolls. I was sort of surprised at how small my chirashi is considering the price… usually they have at least 10 slices of fish in there… mine only had 4, plus a little bit of shrimp, eggs, 3 slices of avocado which covered up HALF of that tiny little boat it came in, and a little scoop of spicy flavored scallop. Mine was $ 12.95, and compared to the 10-slice variety that I’ve had for as much as $ 15 and as little as $ 10…it kind of seemed like a rip off. My bf, however, was pleased with the amount of food his combo had. Despite this, the freshness and quality of the fish was superb, no complaints there. I actually tasted a hint of vinegar in the rice, which is rare… that’s how sushi rice is made and should taste. It complimented the fish quite well. We were finished and I was surprised when the waitress just handed us the check and didn’t ask us if we wanted some dessert because I did!(To her defense, she was very courteous and polite the whole time… and our water was filled promptly each time it was empty.) We also thought the place was possibly owned by Taiwanese people because the manager lady kept on going to the back to talk to a bunch of fob Taiwanese business men talking loudly in Taiwanese and Chinese… kind of annoying when you know what they’re talking about and trying to have a nice sit-down dinner. Other than that, I thought the place was pretty, the food was great, the service was good and staff was attentive, and the atmosphere was fun and upbeat. I would definitely come back! Any place that spins Tiesto while I’m eating gets a thumbs-up from me. :)

By far the best Sushi I have had here in Houston. I consider myself to be somewhat of a regular to this place and for a good reason, FRESHSUSHI! I have been to 713 about 15 or so times and have rarely walked away disappointed with anything they offer. Your guaranteed to be seated by a cute hostess right when you walk in which is always a big plus, and the art work on the walls is great(and for sale). If you’re on a budget, go for Happy Hour any day of the week when they have great prices on appetizers, sushi, sushi rolls, beer, wine and martinis. My only complaint is that the service is hit or miss. Some of the wait staff seems to care a little more than others but it is always worth the wait for the great sushi here. If you’re looking for a place to hang after hours, the night crowd at 713 is loud and fun. They bring in a DJ on the weekends and the bar service isn’t too bad.

On the west side, 713 is ideal spot for a date, hanging with friends and noshing on some sushi. The design is very sleek, and has a nightclub feel without being cheesy. Both the lounge and dining area are lavender, gold and purple. The 713 martinis are wonderful, paired with the 713 roll with crab meat and asparagus. The Chilean sea bass was cooked just perfect. And we split the mango mousse! Yum!
