AFC Doctors Express Urgent Care

Very nice experience. This was my first use of an Urgent Care center. I walked in an hour before closing and was welcomed. The staff was pleasant and friendly. The med tech and the doctor took their time and listened to my physical complaints. The center is spotless and well kept. I would highly recommend this facility!

Nice clean office. Went first thing in the am (they open at 8). The med tech, Denova, was friendly and professional. Dr. Sharma saw me. She was friendly and very knowledgable. I was seen for sinus issues/​cold. I had to get a steroid shot and was prescribed some meds. I would come here again if I was sick.

Great place to go when you’re sick. The staff was friendly and the doctor seemed very knowledgeable. I appreciated that I didn’t have to wait long and was able to go on with my day. I would recommend this location to anyone!

I have been here maybe a total of 3 or so times, and if I were to sum up my personal visits it’d be — AMAZING! The staff was very friendly and helpful when I was checked in each time it was maybe a total wait time of what, five minutes? That’s not even exaggerating. The staff was very knowledgeable and definitely made me feel better about my situation and eased my mind and body. Christina, the medical assistant has worked directly with me and my needs as well which is actually very relieving because she is aware of my specific situation and she always does a stellar job. I would highly recommend –specifically this location– to my family and friends due to the simple fact that you will get great service and one on one care without being rushed (such as a larger facility where it is insanely demanding, and possible to be looked past and cheated of your doctor to patient time). So, definitely many kudos to Christina and the AFC team on Yale Street!

I had an excellent experience at Doctors Express. I went on Thursday and within a few minutes was in to see a doctor. Everyone was very friendly and helpful. I was in and out within 30 minutes.

Quick and thorough! Great service and very accurate. Friendly staff as well! Recommend them for urgent care. Easy location and close to my pharmacy helps too :)

This place is great! I was in and out quickly, the people were very nice, it’s so close and convenient to home, and it’s such a great alternative to waiting forever in typical waiting rooms! Thank you!

I would highly NOT recommend this clinic based on my recent experience. I went to this clinic on a Sunday with a severe cough and high fever. While in the exam room, before either a nurse or a doctor speaks with me, a nurse comes in and swabs me to test for strep. They didn’t even ask about my symptoms (I didn’t have a sore throat) and just did it because «it had been going around». I left diagnosed with bronchitis and with a prescription for antibiotics to treat it. The doctor also had me do a breathing treatment while there. The doctor did not Three days later, I continue to have a high fever and go to my regular doctor. Within minutes of hearing my symptoms, my regular doctor rushed me over for a chest x-​ray, which confirms I have pneumonia. My doctor was surprised that given my symptoms this clinic didn’t suggest a chest x-​ray on me.
I was rather put off that the clinic’s receptionist was out smoking when I arrived. I did not see her wash her hands between coming in from smoking to checking me in.

Made a second trip recently — and they’ve redeemed themselves. No wait this time around. I’d still be skeptical if I saw a few people in the waiting room, but at least can comment on the rest of the service now — which was excellent. For once, going to the doctor didn’t result in a bucket of antibiotics, but rather an evaluation and a treatment plan that worked.

Absolutely wonderful — not sure why the bad reviews. I suppose it depends on the person and the problem? I was in and out in 20 minutes — have an awful sinus/​ear infection. The doctor was as sweet as could be, knowledgeable, and recommended the good old-​fashioned home remedies — hot towel on face, gargling with salt water, etc. They don’t — DON’T — throw antibiotics at you and the nurse taking my medical history was very thorough. I got a steroid shot in the rear, and truly needed antibiotics. The staff great — nice and fun — even though they had to work the holiday weekend. We shared some laughs. No BS here — in and out — thorough, good care. If you require a higher scale of intensive care, consider an ER/​emergency clinic. But if you’re going through a rough time with flu, sinus infection, general poor health issues or mild trauma, or other general malaise — definitely go here. Thanks to the staff for taking care of me today.

I had an excellent experience here. I walked in filled out insurance info was seen 10 minutes later.
Everyone was nice but not campy or weird.
Each person did their job very well and communicated well what they were doing like x-​rays, a shot and prescriptions.
Within an hour I felt better than I have in 6months.
Everything the doctor and her team communicated to me was spot on and though her accent WAS a little heavy I knew what she was saying.
she was aggressive with the treatment plan and I need that with the work I do. I’ve been dealing with a big hospital for a while now and even they didn’t help this much.
I am completely satisfied with the service I got today.

–Doctor was hard to understand (accent plus talking so fast she was out of breath)
–X-​Rays were bad and unusable for next doctor
–Doctor and nurse had little idea what they were going while performing duties, although they were both nice, welcoming and smiley

DO NOT GO HERE!
Went in Friday MORNING with a broken wrist. Walked out Friday AFTERNOON in shock disbelief and pain. Not only was I told by a bumbling physicians assistant that nothing was wrong, but also that she couldn’t read my X-​rays due to the swelling. Upon my dismissal, I was not given my X-​rays, or any sort of viable answer as to my next step… before my departure a nurse attempted to alleviate my pain and win back my trust by not once but TWICE trying to put a LEFT handed brace onto my RIGHT (broken) wrist! She slowly solved this problem by trying it on herself, and saying «oh its your right hand!»…I left trying my best not to cry, and in more pain than when I entered.
I immediately went to a reputable Orthopedic Practice. Here, I was taken excellent care of, & seen right away. They told me my wrist was in fact broken and took great care whilst putting it in a plaster cast.
I found it necessary to write this review because TODAY TWO AND ONE HALF FULL DAYS later AFC called me to inform me that their normal radiologist wasn’t in on Friday and the «doctor» on call had missed my BROKEN bone.
Whats the opposite of a star? Cuz this place, and my treatment while in their care, deserves about 5 of those. DO NOT GO TO AFC/​DOCTORS EXPRESS URGENT CARE

I went to this urgent care clinic on 1÷20÷15, and I arrived a few minutes prior to 8 am (the opening time). When I arrived, there were 2 people already standing outside waiting for the place to open. No one from the actual clinic arrived until approximately 8:25 am, and they said it was due to traffic on 290. I understand that Houston traffic sucks, I know because I also commute to work, but I find this unacceptable… especially so when I am sick and cranky.
The first guy to arrive worked the front desk, so he worked on getting all of us checked in. He was very nice and apologized for the delay in opening, and got everyone set for when the doctor actually arrived (she arrived the latest out of everyone — 8:40ish?). I was taken to my room and was seen by the doctor within 10 minutes of being in there. The doctor herself was very quick and didn’t spend more than a minute looking at me before deciding that I have strep throat without even doing a test. She walked out of the room, came back 5 minutes later with a prescription, and I was on my way.
I don’t feel comfortable taking medicine for something that a test did not confirm I actually had, but thankfully I know the medicines I was given is also what you get when you have a bacterial sinus infection (which is what I think I actually had — I get them frequently, so that’s why I have hunch that is what is was).
Overall, if you need meds, this is a quick place to get in and out of (assuming they are on time opening the dang place). I don’t know if I would trust their diagnosis completely, but hey, it’s better than going to the ER.

If I could give 0 stars I would. Let me be fair and start with the positive, the company was like a specialist visit ($ 30 for me) versus a ER visit ($ 100).
The negatives… where to start. I had broken ribs, which are incredibly painful and couldn’t do anything without intense pain. I couldn’t go to my regular doctor because it happened at 6PM so went to the nearest place I could find.
When I walked in, I couldn’t talk without pain. The receptionist did nothing to even acknowledge my discomfort. So that’s minor, but set the tone for the entire visit. There was no one else being seen so I saw the doctor very quickly. She ordered X-​rays, which they can do at their. The technician was clearly new. She was very nice, but had to take about 15 X-​rays before she got one that worked. When you’re in pain, that’s tough.
So the real kicker for my 1 star rating was a COMPLETE misdiagnosis of my broken ribs. The doctor looked at the X-​rays and said she didn’t see anything and thought that I had a condition that causes mild pain. I tried to explain that my pain was far worse than she was describing, which she totally dismissed. She told me that she’d call me back if the radiologists they sent X-​rays to to read found anything different. I never heard back from them.
I went to my regular doctor the next day and they found TWO broken ribs.
I wouldn’t go back to that place if I was dying and they were the only doctor in town.

Came here on ¹²⁄₂₃ and only waited maybe a total of 20 minutes which was awesome! I work in a health profession myself, so I appreciate promptness. The nurse and front desk were all helpful and polite. The Dr. did have a quick diagnoses but had plenty of advice to help with my sinus problem. May have needed some antibiotic, but I’m not the Dr. :) I received a phone call the day after (Christmas Eve) to check on me and how I was feeling. Overall, I would definitely recommend if you need a Dr visit for minor cold, etc.

Went in on the day after Christmas. Was told there was a 45 min wait. Little did I know, I was not able to see the doctor until almost 2 hours later! The front desk staff was very unprofessional and the nurse who checked my vitals was very rude and chose to display some very inappropriate information to me about herself. The front desk at this office needs to get it together. A man who came in at least 20 min after me was seen by a doctor at least 20 min before I even was. When I asked the front desk what the problem was, they told me they must have accidentally put his chart in front of mine. What kind of circus is this place running?!?
When seeing the doctor, she was also very unprofessional. It confuses me greatly as to why she kept laughing to herself while checking my breathing.
Overall, I cannot think of anything positive about this experience, except for maybe how clean the facility was.

The front desk was nice and quick. The gentleman that registered me and traiged me was very nice and polite.
Gave 3 stars because the doctor seemed quick to give a diagnosis. For ear pain I expected more than a quick second look in the ear. Though she was nice, she was quick spoken and convinced of her diagnosis which turned out wrong.
Doctors aren’t always right and I’m sure this place has helped more than its misdiagnosed. So keep up the great work.

I went in on a Saturday around noon with a sick 2-​year old. Dr. Muzaffar was great. She was efficient and professional; plus she and the staff were great at getting a cranky toddler’s vitals. That was critical!
Also really impressed by the personal care Dr. Muzaffar gave. She didn’t just throw antibiotics at the problem. She talked about different methods of treatment and listened very well.

Been here twice, the first time was great and the staff and nurse practitioner was helpful. Came again in May 2014 and the front desk staff was rude. They need to work on customer service.
First, they gave us a sassy answer when we asked how long the wait was, then we had this conversation:
— here is my insurance card
— oh we don’t take insurance for that procedure
— really? Are you sure
— no, this is an urgent care clinic so no
After a few moments of silence
— can you check again, we’ve had this done at another urgent care clinic before
— yes, our owners will not even look at that, besides it’s only $ 30 (in a very sassy tone)
