Good food overall. Friendly service. My roommate girl say the eggs were a little too greasy

I go here on a regular basis, about once a week. Why not 5 stars? Well it’s a simple dinner, with great food and a great staff, but 5 stars requires a spectacular location too. First thing, anyone who likes grits knows they are bland, the taste is mild. Just had to get that out there. I like like going by myself and with family, it’s always comfortable. However when I go with family I get to sample, the French toast is great! Everything is done right, explore the menu!

Really good local diner. I prefer breakfast here versus lunch, but the blue plate specials are very good and a good price. On weekends they have sweet potato pancakes, not on the menu so you just have to ask. They are fantastic! Our son loves the chocolate chip pancakes with whipped cream! There are also healthy option and the wrap made with egg whites is very satisfying. Does get crowded late mornings.

I think this place is one step above a typical IHOP or Denny’s. The food comes out fast and the service is good but nothing here is exceptional. I typically go here for business breakfast when I want to get out quick.

It was my first time here and overall it was pretty good. The sunny side up eggs and bacon were really good, but did not care much for the side of pancakes. The service was very attentive.

First time here. The ambience is nice. It’s crowded but not noisy. Very family-ish. Ordered coffee. Not great, tasted a bit bitter and burnt. For food, super six omelette(egg whites and veggies) and grits. Service is quick, food comes out fast. Once I got the omelet I got a sour smell. First bite i got egg, green bell peppers, onions. The bell peppers were not good. Being a cook, I noticed the color on the bell peppers. Some darker than others, that means they mixed old with the new. Also, once I noticed the mushrooms and tasted the salsa, I realized it’s all canned. And it tasted like canned metal. The grits didn’t have any flavor. The best part was the toast and preserved jam. And im not big on toast unless it’s gluten and wheat free. The service was really friendly and the food Came quick but Man, the food was horrible.

Avalon Diner serves up a pretty solid breakfast. This little place is on our breakfast restaurant rotation so we end up here every month or so. I’ve had the migas, huervos rancheros, eggs w/bacon, & their omelettes. All are pretty good but my favorite is the veggie omelette that is chock full of mushrooms, tomatoes, onion, bell pepper & the ooey-gooey goodness that is called Swiss cheese. The cooks are good at following specifics: like your hashbrowns crispy? You got it. Like your over easy egg w/a runny yolk? No problem! My last visit I noticed the menu cover had the following magical words: Burgers served all day. Oh my gosh, where have I been? Why didn’t I notice this before? The Hamburglar has nothing on me, I would eat a burger three times a day if I could get away with it. So with a giddy gleam in my eye I ordered the burger with a side of fries(the burgers are a la carte) while H stared at me like I had two heads. Eh, he has weird breakfast rules… and rules are made to be broken, pal! The burger was the typical diner burger. Good offering, not the best I’ve had and not the worst. The bun was fresh(kudos for that) the patty a bit on the bland side and piled high with crisp lettuce, tomatoes & onions. The fries are of the crinkle variety & were crispy-hot. Service as always was courteous & fast. I think I just found my burger for breakfast go-to place.

We like Avalon Diner for the greasy spoon that it is. There’s nothing on the menu that you couldn’t make easily at home, but it’s just good comforting breakfast with overly familiar service at a decent price. Go early on weekends or expect to wait.

I really enjoy eating breakfast here. Fast, friendly service. Food is always consistent and hot. Feels like the kind of restaurant you remember as a child in a small town atmosphere.

Good place for breakfast or lunch. In my last visit, I had the French toast, which was very good. The sausage patties I ordered were tasty, but a bit on the dry side. I’ve tried other items here as well and generally have been pleased with them. The waitresses all are very nice and competent. Often, the person who works the cash register seems a bit grumpy. This applies to more than one person I’ve seen there. The seating is typical diner seating; nothing fancy. This restaurant is a good value for the money.

Solid food and prices. Clean & well maintained restaurant. My fruit cup had canned fruit, which was blah, but otherwise food was typical diner food, nothing extravagant. Our waitress was prompt and attentive.

I’ve only been to this location, but I’ve been here countless times. The service here(no matter who you get) is swift and sweet. My fave waitress is Deborah though. She’s the best! I always order breakfast mainstays, like two eggs over easy and grits – so I’m kind of boring, but they execute these items consistently perfect EVERY time. Despite being a creature of habit, sometimes I order other things like eggs Benedict, biscuits and gravy or pancakes and those have all been very good as well. Yes, I may be unadventurous with my ordering, but they have a huge menu with lots of elaborate items on them and I’m certain that all those dishes are delicious as well. My boyfriend always gets the Chef’s Medley and he is practically a fiend for it when we wake up on Saturday or Sunday morning. One time we were sitting at the counter for service and the guy next to him thought it looked so good he ordered it too. A major reason why we like this place so much is because it is located conveniently close to our house, but we keep coming back because we have never been disappointed.

Went on a Sunday morning about 9am, got there just before the placed was packed. Service was great. Restaurant clean, as with the bathrooms. This is a diner, so do not expect creative or exotic type dishes. The breakfast menu was your standard egg, pancake, cereal type of fare. They had a healthy options section. The egg whites with turkey and cantaloupe looked really good, they give you ½ of an entire cantaloupe. I had an omelet, and substitutions were not issue. The omelette was well seasoned, cooked to perfection. The only thing I would have wanted differently would be fresh mushrooms instead of canned. Husband and the eggs and waffle, and he loved it. Kids had pancakes, and the syrup came out nice and warm. And, the waitress handed the syrup directly to me, instead of just placing it on the table where the kids would fight over it(a mom appreciates this very much). The fresh fruit cup was ample amount of fruit, but again would have preferred fresh pineapple over canned. The coffee was decent. Not spectacular, but what you would expect in a diner. They have real half and half, not the chemical stuff. Food came quickly, was fresh and there was no grease. As for price, OMG, about ½ of what we paid at an IHOP or Denny’s. Great value for the food you get.

I never write bad reviews but this place deserves it. The worst, Service sucks, food is better at a drive through, and to top it off the lady on the phone told me I needed to hurry up with my order cause there was a line AND messed up my order. Terrible.

Our family loves going here. Great food, friendly staff, very reasonable prices all combine to make this a great option for a good weekend breakfast. I recommend the Grill Cook’s Medley.

We love going here! There seems to be a lot more seating than the Kirby location, the service is great and very ‘Cheers’ where everyone knows your name, or your usual order. The prices are reasonable especially compared to Denny’s or IHOP and knowing you are supporting a local business as well as getting better customer service! The french toast is awesome! I recommend the sausage patties over the links.
