I’ve always adored this place. It has cute décor and the music reminds me of my grandma’s house when she blast her soft 1940s-1950s music around the house while she deep cleans the house lol. Oh and they have macarons as well! The food here is very great! they have banh mi, phở, rice dishes, appetizers, basically everything you can find at a regular Vietnamese place. None has disappointed me. Also, the people here are so nice too! The lady cashier remembers my bf and I every time my boyfriend and I come eat.

A cozy little Vietnamese restaurant with nice décor, music, and food. You really wouldn’t expect what it looks like inside before coming in, especially at night in such a shady area of FM1960. Their menu is small and written mostly in English, which is good for those not familiar with Vietnamese food. The grilled pork sandwich(banh mi thit nuong) is $ 4, on the higher side for banh mi, but high quality and pretty legit. This is what I usually order, and I like it as much as from the popular Nguyen Ngo 2 /Nguyen Ngoc nearby. The bread comes out warm toasted with a near perfect crispy, crackly crust that flakes into a dozen pieces when you bite into it, and a soft and chewy inside. I say near perfect because to me, it’s still toasted too long if the top crust is so crispy that it flakes. But it’s certainly still really good and in my opinion better than the baguette at Nguyen Ngo 2(but not Vina Bakery). The BBQ pork is seasoned and grilled well, mildly sweet, but unfortunately comes as pork chop strips. Pretty disappointing and really unusual not to see pork belly or pork shoulder, but at least the pork chops are pretty good for pork chops. The sandwich comes with a LOAD of fresh tasting pickled carrots/daikon, and cilantro sprigs on the side, which is a nice touch. The pickled carrots may be a bit much, but luckily they’re not too sweet or sour. Spread on opposite sides of the baguette are garlic butter and pâté, which you don’t see too often in the basic BBQ pork banh mi at most Houston shops. Both were delicious, but too scarce. There was so little pâté that you probably couldn’t even tell it was there unless you read the menu. Overall I still really like the banh mi even with the disappointing meat choice, and place it around Nguyen Ngo 2’s, above Vina Bakery’s. My favorite BBQ pork banh mi in the area is still Mekong Sandwich however.

Really like the service and atmosphere at this Phở restaurant. Soup was a little too sweet for me but not to the point where I couldn’t still enjoy. Egg roll was traditional and good. Would recommend even for a causal date. Ambiance is very cute!

Some of the best phở on the north side. Seriously. Really quick and personal service, food is super fresh and reasonably priced. This place is definitely a «at least once a week stop» kind of place.

Been coming here since they opened, maybe a couple years ago? Consistently my favorite Vietnamese food that tastes healthier than the rest. I know it’s not traditional or authentic to have Vietnamese food that is «healthy» but I really love it.

Ok, we tried to give this place another shot, considering location, convenience and our last experience as we used to live closer to the place. Ordered the Spicy Beef Phở, which I remembered to be pretty delicious, but since it has obviously been over a year, I remember now why I had not kept this one on my top phở places to visit. The broth wasn’t as spicy as I remember, so I had to add the sriracha which I never had to do before. We also got the chili basil wings which had a lot less fried basil and the sauce seemed off and half of the chili sauce had pooled to one side of the plate. One thing Ba Mien Bistro accomplishes well is the fried chicken wing, but where they lack is plating, consistency and service. The spicy beef phở comes with a plate of raw purple cabbage, bean sprouts, a little bit of cilantro, a few basil sprigs, and a few slices of raw jalapeño slices. I am not a fan of raw cabbage, so I was immediately put off, but I missed the description of soup add ons on the menu, so I was unaware to request it not be included with the soup. Of the five wings for $ 7, we had barely completed wing 3 when the soup arrived, so we were rushing to clear the table for the server to place our soups. The restaurant is quite small and very cold, so bring a sweater or jacket unless it’s Texas hot outside. It’s about 47 and rainy so I am glad I was dressed for the chilly weather. The chairs are aluminum and the concrete floor doesn’t help the inside temp.

But why oh why are they closed on Sunday? I’d be eating there right now instead of writing this review. I’ve only had their pork banh mi(Vietnamese sandwich) which is always satisfying. The french bread is always soft and warm and the pickled carrots add the right amount of flavor. I add a fried egg on top of my banh mi because well egg goes on everything! The parking lot is a bit sketch but 1960 is that weird divider where we leave the sketchiness that is my part of Houston(aka the dirty nawf) to the clean suburbs of Spring. Ba Mien Bistro is actually a really cute restaurant tho. The cashier/host/guy who takes my orders is a bit odd. I saw others mention that he isn’t the friendliest… I don’t necessarily agree with that. Maybe, he’s just socially awkward? He’s never given me bad service but is it top notch customer service, no. But it is good food at a super cute restaurant. ***update**** had the egg rolls and they were no bueno, but the Viet coffee was deliciously sweet.

The girl at the front was really friendly and helpful. The restaurant had a warm and inviting vibe to it. It’s a little confusing because I’m not sure how to describe it(modern maybe?) but the atmosphere was calm. It’s probably one of the most hipster looking restaurant in this area. Spicy tofu with rice: it comes with fish sauce so if you’re vegetarian, I’d ditch the sauce because the tofu itself is very flavorful. Tofu was well cooked but wasn’t spicy at all! My mom ordered the tofu vermicelli and she really liked it as well. She was surprised because she thought the place would be too Americanized but she gave it the Asian mom thumbs up. I also felt like the dishes were a bit over priced for what they are, but the quality of the food was great. Not worth the price great but I’m still glad I came satisfied.

Wow. Ba Mien is the perfect venue for introducing someone to Vietnamese cuisine. It’s authentic, tasty, and one of the most endearing interiors you’ll find anywhere. It is my personal standard in terms of quality — I have and forever will judge every Phở or banh mi place against it, and have since found very few equals. Also: Dear friends, macaroon =/= macaron. C’mon.

Ba Mien Bistro was a spur of the moment decision but shattered my expectations. The atmosphere is minimal but quaint. It was very clean. Very quick. And the food was VERY very good. In the mood for something quick and easy I ordered a grilled pork sandwich, with a fried egg of course, and an iced coffee to drink. The coffee was great and I’m usually very picky(and slightly snobby) about my coffee, but was quite satisfied. When my sandwich arrived shortly after I was surprised to see how big it was. On top of that it was overflowing with meat, cucumber, and carrots. and a giant fried egg. The two parts that made this sandwich shine were the bread, which was incredible(soft and fresh inside, but crunchy and flavorful on the outside) and the pork(which was seasoned and cooked to perfection.) My one tiny complaint would be the price. My sandwich with the additional cost of adding the egg, and coffee, came out at just about $ 10 which seemed a little high, but was honestly so worth it. With all that being said I will without a doubt be back very soon and will be giving their phở a try!

This place is freaking delicious! Had a sandwich and phở and it all hit the spot and was very reasonably priced($ 12 for both, including tax). I will return and try a macaroon next time. :-)

The strip mall that it’s in is not an indication of anything regarding this restaurant. Inside it is quaint, calm with jazzy music, clean and welcoming. I had phở with brisket and added shrimp. It was honestly the best phở I’ve had. The macaroons in the pastry case looked good but I was really full. I’ll be back to try to pad thai.

A charming environment, Ba Mien has become my favorite local restaurant and 1960’s best kept secret. The staff is warm and friendly too. Today I had the shrimp pad Thai noodles. Hot, creamy and with a touch of spice and crunchiness, this dish left nothing to be desire. I’ll be back, maybe as soon as tomorrow!

Great food and service!!! It’s also extremely clean compared to other asian restaurants! Their extremely efficient when it comes to go orders, I usually get my dish in less than 15 minutes! I really like their pork vermicelli with an egg roll on the side! Their pork is seasoned well and their egg roll is not overly greasy and still flavorful! I’ll definitely recommend this restaurant! The only minor complaint I have is that it’s located in a weird shopping center and can easily be missed if your zooming on 1960! Therefore, try to slow down so you won’t miss the restaurant and you’ll definitely not regret it!

Excellent food. Woke up today with Bhan Mi on my mind and this place delivered. The bread is perfect. Nice crust but still soft inside. Nice décor and friendly staff. Small intimate dining space is comfortable and welcoming. I’ll definitely be back as the rest of the menu looks great as well.

Great food, great service, great atmosphere. I had the phở with brisket, rare steak, and meatball. The broth was clear and super flavorful. The brisket was the best I’ve ever had in phở. The meatball were tasty and just the right amount of bite. I especially loved the bistro atmosphere of the restaurant. Tastefully decorated but comfortable. The music featured a selection of 1920’s and 1930’s tunes. Nice and relaxing. I would put this restaurant up against any phở restaurant I’ve been to. I hope to be back again soon.
