Tasty! We went for Sunday Brunch and so happy we did. They start out with a small bowl of muffins served with apple butter. I ordered the KFC, Korean fried chicken, served with a biscuit and gravy. Huge portions, you get 2 chicken breast expertly fried and moist. The seasoning is delicious with a good spicy kick evened out with sweetness. The gravy is a lil loose but mixes well with the Korean flavors. My husband got the el Labrador plate. The eggs cooked well with no whites and creamy. Lots of yummy meat. Both our meals were very filling, no need for an app and no room for dessert.

Food: 4.0÷5.0 Service: 3.5÷5.0 Value: 3.5÷5.0 Décor: 3.5÷5.0 Overall: 4.0÷5.0 Did brunch here. Free valet service which you more or less have to use since most of the parking lot is valet only(I have mixed feelings about this — it’s probably more space efficient, but they have only two valets on staff and backlogs form during peak hours). The brisket migas was good as well as the house french toast.

Trendy décor, modern atmosphere, and a unique menu. Each table comes with complimentary, refillable muffins with savory apple butter sauce. The waitress suggested the Bistro Burger since she said this was the only place she goes to get a burger, so I went with it. The meat on the burger was cooked medium, the buns were some kind of egg-twist bread, and the sides were fruits and sweet potato fries. Overall, the burger was delightful. I enjoyed the cheddar cheese that was melted slightly over the meat and the juice from the meat was savory. I would definitely come back to try the other brunch items.

I only review restaurants I really love, and this is no exception. I liked how everything on a plate has its own signature taste to it which you can’t really find in other restaurants of the same price/cuisine type. I had the special dry ramen noodles and prawn«cakes» which did leave a memorable taste. Every component of the dishes there is either well marinade or cooked in its special way that makes it stand out just enough to be complimentary to each other. If you have the chance, find a dish that has Brussels sprouts in it. I am not a big fan of them but they made it the way that I would go back there to try them again. My partner and I loved it!

It was alright. The drinks were not as strong but I guess thanks what you get for happy hour specials right? Anyway, the service was not too much t write home about either, but the burger was delicious.

Saturday morning brunch. Thank god we got there early(open at 11) because it was packed within an hour. Love the little muffins they serve beforehand. Their only sweet option was French toast. No frills but nonetheless delicious. Everyone else loved their omelettes. Nice trendy place with cool ambiance. I recommend it.

Great lunch spot! I always got their cobb salad and it’s probably the best salad I’ve ever had. The crunchy chicken is also another favorite. Everything is fresh and screams quality. Prices aren’t bad either. The lunch crowd can get pretty big here so you might want to either schedule an early or later lunch if you’re trying to go with a big group. The restaurant itself is well kept and probably the most nice looking establishment on the block. Definitely a cool place to go regardless of purpose.

For how good of a restaurant Benjy’s is, it gets nowhere near the attention it should be getting. I’ll typically come here or recommend this place to people who are either new to Houston or visiting from out of town: it’s an upscale restaurant with midscale pricing, that delivers hard on quality, presentation, and quantity. Although their menus fluctuate with the seasons, they have a few staples that are absolute must-haves. Night and day at Benjy’s is, quite literally, night and day. Their brunch/lunch setup has tons of natural lighting, feeding the energy of this place’s already pumped up staff and customers. Must have something to do with their mimosas and our eternal obsession with them :). Their brunch menu is great, if Bottomless Mimosas weren’t enough– the Braised Brisket Migas is a 1−2−3−4−5 punch of deliciousness, healthiness, fill-you-up-ness, happiness, and… more deliciousness. I’ve heard amazing things about the El Labrador Breakfast and the Benjy’s Famous French Toast as well. Their lunch menu is easily their weakest and feels more like a filler menu, although I can, and will, give their Bistro Burger two thumbs up. Dinner is where they turn things up a notch. They do a splendid job of cranking up the romantic & intimate atmosphere here: perfectly-dim lights, candles at each table(if I recall), and soft and soothing music in the background. They’ll bring out free cornbread just like they do at any time of the day, and sometimes the waiter will throw in a free appetizer on the house! Their pork chop and braised beef short ribs are Benjy’s classics and come with my highest recommendation. ‘Nuff said. I’ve been to this place with a TON of different people, and not a single one has walked out dissatisfied. So enough writing, enough reading. Treat yo’self – or in this case, let Benjy’s treat you.

We came for the Saturday brunch. Three of us shared the carafe of blood orange mimosas, and it was more than enough for us(someone had to drive after all). This was a good twist on this common drink. We all loved it. I had the braised brisket migas. I guess I should have understood there would be lots of brisket in this meal, but it was not what I expected for breakfast. If you are a big meat eater, you might enjoy this plate. For me it was too much brisket for brunch and the meat was tough. The rest of the meal was tasty and delicious, I just pushed the brisket to the side and enjoyed the dish. One other note, this egg dish had sour cream and smashed avocado, neither of which I would have expected to like with egg — I was wrong. Other than the toughness of the brisket it was all flavored well and overall I liked it. My daughters both enjoyed their meals; one had the Benjy’s Breakfast Plate with the french toast which was very tasty. Service was good, and we left full and happy. I would return and I would recommend.

They have gotten too busy. :(((reservations are needed for Sunday brunch now if you don’t want to wait 30 minutes. I went one weekend when it was mothers or father’s day or something. They had a different menu with higher prices. My favorite meal wasn’t on it. I left because I felt like that was so dishonest to gouge their customers.

I went there during lunch time with coworkers. It was my first time visiting the Washington location. I’ve had happy hour and dinner at the West University location. For an appetizer, we shared pistachio crusted goat cheese cakes, which came with deep fried pita chips. It was quite delicious. I ordered the Scottish Salmon. The salmon was perfectly charred and had a sweet glaze. Below the salmon was mixture of farro, mint, tomato, citrus and dried plum. Paired with the salmon, it was way too sweet. The customer service was good. Our waitress was very good at describing dishes and made an effort to clean up our table before taking a group photo of us. Overall, Benjy’s is a great place to eat with family and friends– great ambiance and quality of food. I gave them an okay rating because it doesn’t suit my taste buds.

Been here a couple times now for brunch and the atmosphere is very nice and laid back in addition the place is always clean. I love the peach mimosas and bread appetizers they give you. The Brussel sprout appetizer is amazing!!! One time I came my friend and I couldn’t decide between two similar meals but both ended up getting the same thing and the waitress brought the 2nd dish anyways at no charge bc she thought we should try it. I always feel taken care of here! Parking can be tricky on a busy day so make sure you bring cash to valet.

Braised brisket migas is where it’s at. Comes in a bowl, full of flavor and just the right portion for me. My guy friend who also ordered the dish finished it half as fast as I did, so maybe it’s on the smaller side. My other 2 friends fully enjoyed their meals as well, one got the Southwest chicken omelette and the other got Benjy’s breakfast plate. We all but licked our plates clean. From my friends’ consensus, the drinks are pretty good as well. The mimosa is light and yummy. The black magic drink comes in a really cool glass which justifies the price. The atmosphere is casual, with a big open space. I saw some tables for outdoor seating that looked quaint, I’ll have to check it out next time. I’m interested to come here for dinner as well.

I’m pretty surprised when places pull off multiple menus well. Usually brunch and dinner menus are at odds but honestly I’m a big fan of both. From the dinner side, frankly their pork chop was one of the best I’ve had. Well seasoned, moist, and great sides like cheese grits don’t detract from the dish at all. As for brunch, I’ve had the El Labrador solely on the criterion of most meat/plate. The pork brisket was just a tinge tough, but again I devoured that protein friendly plate quicker than Godzilla crushes innocent cars. I’m a big fan of what I’ve had at Benjy’s so far, but it’s still tiny compared to their entire menu. I gotta keep coming back before star #5 can find a new home.

I realise there is already a few hundred reviews on this eatery but I’d like to contribute to the bible of approving opinions that sing songs about Benjy’s. We dined here on a Sunday evening for a private dinner party honouring my friend’s daughter’s christening. We were sat upstairs and I immediately foreshadowed that my experience was going to be magical. Parking was no issue and I was able to self-park in the lot directly in front of the restaurant. The time of day and week was conducive to that aspect. We passed by the downstairs patio area which was already festively lit for the evening. The temperature was great so I wouldn’t have minded eating outdoors. The inside dining area was vast and open with vaulted ceilings; despite that, the lighting and general atmosphere still felt very private and(dare I say it? Yes I will!) romantic. Our private dining party was set upstairs with our own bar and loos(yes, I consider that very important and accommodating to those who are wearing 4-inch pumps and would rather skip going up and down some stairs). There was a glass wall/partition on what would have been the balcony overlooking the downstairs. I thought this was very smart, not only because it prevents drunk people from chunking champagne flutes at diners below, but also because our group quickly became a loud mass of inebriated immigrants who suddenly became hard of hearing so we ended up yelling at each other. I imagine we became a nuisance to the staff with our noise and a couple of rowdy children running around, but regardless, they were very pleasant towards our party. Our menu was pre-fixe so I can only comment on two items at the time. I had the kale salad prepared with mushrooms and sun dried tomatoes with Parmesan and vinaigrette. I finished the entire plate. I also had the salmon with a tomato jam served on creamy mashed potato and winter veggies. I also ate the entire entrée and was buzzed enough to consider licking the plate clean. The toilets were well-kept, tidy, and smelled great, so that the simple act of relieving myself and washing my hands did not kill my appetite as some public restrooms are wont to do. Verdict: I will return very soon, and I’m bringing my entire squad with me.

Always a good time at Benjy’s! Their HH is awesome! $ 6-$ 8 «apps» but you’re really paying for the regular portion size. Drinks range from $ 5 wines or you can even get a bottle for $ 20. HH is from 4−7pm and their patio is real nice and huge too! Other than that their regular menu is also good. I always get their crunchy chicken and a nice glass of wine. Service is always fast and quick. Hit or miss with the friendly servers though. Parking is complimentary!

oook so the one on Washington Ave was so fab that when a friend suggested hitting up the one in Rice Village, I was down. However, it was somewhat disappointing. GETTHEBRUSSELSPROUTS is my undying advice to you all, but aside from that, everything was pretty mediocre. I got a salmon dish that was good? but not really what I expected? Same thing with my friends’ omelette and french toast. The complaint was simply that they expected it to be better. Nothing was wrong per se, but I think we all know the feeling of mild disappointment from a dish. Somewhat inconsistent experiences between restaurant locations are not my fave. Hit up the one on Washington.

So. Freaking. Good. I didn’t take pictures because before I realized to take a picture for the review I would eventually write, I had already finished half my meal. No worries I will definitely be back here for some more delicious breakfast. I tried Benjy’s Breakfast Plate and it was delicious. I substituted turkey sausages and they were delicious! I also loved the décor. Really nice on the inside and spacious. The service is wonderful and the food comes out fresh, delicious, and really quick for how busy this place gets! Next up for me is to try their lunch and dinner menu. Word of advice: Benjy’s opens at 11 and it is best to get there right at 11 if you want some brunch as parking gets filled real quick. They do have valet, but in case you don’t want to valet park the earlier the better.

Benjy’s! I’ve driven past this place so many times and never thought to stop by but thanks to my fellow Unilocaler i wanted to experience the yumminess myself. We went on a Saturday, close to noon. You could self-park or valet. We were greeted and immediately seated. The location is not hard 2 find and the décor inside is beautiful. You could sit outside and enjoy the gorgeous weather or dine in and suck up the air lol Our waiter(Keiton– excuse the spelling) was amazing in addition to the other guys helping out with water, bread and condiments! He checked on us quite often and kept our refills coming without having to ask. Appetizer breads were brought which were good but had a unique taste to it. We ordered the white peach mimosa carafe. You could order by the glass($ 4) or carafe($ 18) — That was one yummy mimosa! Main concourse: We both ordered the same meal–«The Breakfast Plate» which came with French toast, 2-piece sausage, roasted potatoes and scrambled eggs. Excuse my French, but this shit was so damn good! Every single thing on the plate was amazing! The French toast drizzled with that maple syrup was just OMG. The eggs were perfectly seasoned, sausage was juicy and potatoes were perfection. Of course I requested hot sauce for my potatoes but it honestly didn’t need it. The customer service, food and prices were so on point I thought about going back this morning LOL I cannot wait to tell others about this place. They also have a bar area and a meeting room for bigger parties(we seen a group having a baby shower). A++

Came to Benjy’s for brunch and LOVEDIT! The food, décor and hospitality of the waiters are great. The interior design is retro and fun – absolutely beautiful. They offer complimentary blueberry muffins with a sauce similar to peach/apple sauce. DRINKS: Blood orange mimosa and margarita were refreshing and unique. FOOD: The braised brisket migas dish was excellent. Full of flavor and the meat was so tender and made to perfection. The Cobb salad was a great pairing and extremely filling. Highly recommend this restaurant if you’re in the area!
