I’ve eaten here many times. Their soups are better than their tacos, and their tacos better than their sandwiches. All are expensive. But they use good ingredients to make serviceable lunches, and they have very tasty iced tea. I especially enjoy the spicy tortilla soup, which comes with a small bag of chips– a small cup of it together with a lentil taco is an excellent lunch, and a pretty good deal for only $ 6.99. On the other hand, I had a mediocre half-blt and a soup the other day for $ 11.49. That’s ridiculous, and yet it’s the kind of thing that happens fairly often here. It’s also very hot in the restaurant, which takes away from the pleasure of dining in. Still, a nice place worthy of lunch.

A change from the typical lunch delis, burgers, texmex, and other uncreative restaurants just looking to make a quick lunchtime buck. This place a wide variety of panini’s that would satisfy any foodie’s desire for some good food during lunch. From the looks of the menu, this is truly an establishment that has a passion for food. Why only 2-stars? Well I have tried Be-wiched a number of times, and everytime I wanted so hard to love it. Unfortunately, there is some disconnect between the idea of the food and the execution of it. In my opinion the panini’s are just toasted to a point where the bread is crunchy. The sandwich has fallen apart on my multiple times, and there is just an insane amount of oil in them. The line is long, the service medium speed, and the seating is quite limited. The one redeeming thing about them is that they offer something different from the other lunch options in the tunnel, and the soup is really good(4⁄5). TL;DR — Appealing menu, but poor execution. I’d eat it when the other generic options are played out.

Be’Wiched certainly lives up to its catchy name, because their great food and excellent service has cast a spell on me for sure!!! I ordered the Asian chicken salad from this awesome eatery about a month ago and it knocked my socks off. Everything in the salad was plentiful and fresh and the delivery to my office was lightning fast.(In fact, I’ve ordered two more of them today. Both for me!) David, the owner is a staunch perfectionist. When I told him that I would be having the salad for dinner instead of lunch, he brought me a second salad with the condiments on the side so everything would be crisp when I got home. What a sweetheart! He’s all about the customer, unlike a lot of restaurant owners who are too busy to be one-on-one with the public. If you want a fresh, tasty meal with service that’s pure magic, checkout Be’Wiched! Suzette

Love love love this place! They have the best sandwiches my favorite is the dijon and apple butter with ham. Their soups are always delicious, one of my favorites is the pumpkin lobster bisque! They are definatley worth the wait in line!

IT’S STILLOPEN! But in the tunnel downtown. I visited my mom for lunch downtown, and we ate here. Get the Cuban sandwich!!! Best shredded pork I’ve ever had!!! Also, the creamy poblano soup was awesome too!

Be’wiched is a small soup and sandwich joint in the tunnels in downtown Houston. They offer a good variety of gourmet sandwiches with ingredients like short rib and brie. They also have a nice selection of soups to choose from. Houston can be crazy hot so I tend not to order soup anywhere, but I hear the soups are nice. What I like about Be’wiched are their tacos. They have a pulled pork taco that is substantial and flavorful with loads of pork and a touch of fresh cilantro. They also have a Korean chicken taco that is equally delicious but with Eastern flavors. Two tacos was more than enough to fill me up. The tacos are a great option in the tunnels for out of the ordinary Mexican lunch. I mean, I can only handle the chain Ninfa’s locations so often. Check out Be’wiched if you are in need of a new lunch spot in the tunnels. You’ll be glad you did.

Bewiched was a fun little shop next to Cookie Jar on Westheimer. Sadly, Cookie Jar closed and Bewiched moved. Bewiched is now in the Downtown tunnels, at least according to their wesite.

Nice! I’m surprised I didn’t notice this place sooner with it being next to Paulie’s. The place is cool. It’s a cozy little corner on this Westheimer block. They won my affection right off when I realized that beverages come in a carafe. I’m easily impressed sometimes – what can I say? Along with my carafe of iced tea, I shared a ginormous bowl of lobster pumpkin bisque with my girlfriend. Sooooo good – yet, it kind of sounds so wrong? I love it when food does that. And then came the sandwiches. They are not puny sandwiches. Half of one would probably have been fine. I don’t know if it varies upon what you order, but the Cuban and the roast beef are kind of monsters. The Cuban sandwich is a nice take on this brand of sandwich. I’m not sure I dug the jalapeño’s they put on it, but I didn’t hate them. Overall – it’s very well put together. It comes as a panini. The Roast beef is very good. The quality of meat on both is very fresh and delightful. Your sandwich also comes with fruit and this cinnamon yogurt mixture that I very much enjoy! Overall – a great place to catch some lunch! I can’t wait to check out their brunch sometime.

I checked out Be’wiched today with a friend and I enjoyed it. this is a unique place with a pretty good lunch menu of panninis and salads and soups. Best is you can half-order any sandwich and get a soup to accompany. The tortilla soup was excellent as was the pumpkin lobster bisque. What looks even more promising is the Sunday brunch menu. Give it a try. I will again.

This is one of my favorite lunch restaurants in Houston, well no, second. Let me rephrase, if Bowl didn’t exist, this would be my absolute favorite lunch spot in Houston. I always order the half panini/half salad or soup. At ten bucks, it is a little pricey, but everything is so wonderful! And even though the combinations may be a little outlandish for some, everything I’ve had here, everything, tastes great. If you dine in, they bring an entire carafe of iced tea. This is a good thing; you don’t have to wait for refills. They get slammed at times, but apparently not enough to warrant hiring more wait-staff. Don’t get me wrong, everyone who works here is exceptionally nice, it can just be difficult at times to flag someone down because they are always rushing to a table. Of the panini’s, the Roast Turkey and Brie(with prosciutto, pear, and cranberries) and the Farmer’s Market Harvest(goat cheese, spinach, and artichokes) are my favorite. Both come on ciabatta bread and feature my favorite cheeses. Any salad is available for this offer, excepting the Steak Salad. I’ve never had it, but steak and goat cheese? Wow! I’ve also been eying the pizzas. Pineapple with jalepeno and prosciutto. Brie with pecans, strawberries, and olive oil. Okay, okay. I know where I’m going for lunch tomorrow. The half sandwiches are just the right size and accompanied with the half salad or cup of soup can be stretched into two lunches. I don’t typically eat light, but the combo plate is just the right amount to hit the spot, but not overly so. To be honest, in the middle of a work day, staring at a computer for hours on end, while sitting in my walk in refrigerator of an office, a full stomach can only lead to nap time… and people would start to notice if I pulled the George Costanza sleep-under-my-desk routine any more times per week than I normally do. There are two drawbacks to Be-wiched. One is how packed this place can get. I’ve actually been here a few times, and due to time constraints, just ordered my food to go. If you are able to get a table, snag it. It’s a wonderful space to enjoy your meal. Sort of nouveau french bistro. The second drawback is their hours. Presently they are only open for lunch; they close at 3pm. I have a feeling, however, that once they get their beer and wine license and finish the extension into the former Cookie Jar, they will extend their hours.

A self-described Parisian Bistro from the 1920’s, the charm of Be~wiched will have you at hello. Before you’ve even finished scanning the waitresses for Audrey Tatou’s Hepburn-esque coif(the place even has the same color scheme as the Two Windmills Café from the film), you’ve been seated with a jug of water, a dainty café menu, and a plate of hot, salted pretzel bites with sticky, honey– mustard dipping sauce. My dining companion and I took longer than necessary perusing the offerings of paninis, pizzas, soups and salads for I tell you, we simply could not decide. The smoked turkey with pear, basil, brie and cranberry compote? The lentil chickpea salad? I maximized my sampling by ordering a small portion of the«Athens» salad with a cup of soup(another beguiling decision, but after the waitress brought me a generous sample of chicken artichoke I was sold.) This is an option they offer that costs the same as ordering a large salad or sandwich solo. The soup was peppery, brothy and filling. You must be absolutely cracker-jack cuckoo for artichoke but if you are, you will love this soup. I had to pack it up for later because it was distracting me from what might be the best Greek salad I’ve ever eaten. It was all kinds of fabulous, combining strong arugula and feta with kalamata olives, mint and sundried tomato crostini. D.C opted for the«Farmer’s Market» sandwich, consisting of perfectly toasted panini bread with a slip of chevre melted amonst the cherry tomatoes and spinach. Her pumpkin lobster bisque was creamy as a milkshake. The service was grand, the atmosphere delightful. I have two complaints: One was that d.c. noticed the once Springy bouquet in the centerpiece had lost it’s luster(and most of it’s botanical matter in the cloudy water.) I myself wouldn’t have paid it much attention but with her being so distracted by it, the more difficult it is to leave it out. The second is that we had no room for dessert at the adjoined«Cookie Jar,» and with offerings like«strawberry shortcake» cupcakes, an angel food cupcake halved and filled with a puff of cream and laden with strawberries, «Florida pie»(coconut AND key lime) and chocolate chip cloud pie… It’s just a little painful to address here. Clearly I need to return and give it my full and undivided attention.

I have driven by this place many times, but on this day I happen to see a parking spot and I took it. I’m glad I did. This place was so good I will come back and actually wait for a spot to open up if i have to. I’m always looking for a good sandwich and this place is right up there. We started with the stuffed dates w/jalapeño, Gorgonzola cheese wrapped in prosciutto and the pumpkin lobster bisque served with crab crostini. All this before I even make it to my sandwich. We had the PLT and the Cuban. The PLT is a nice twist on the BLT but why. Bacon tastes gooood. Pork chops taste gooood. It was a very good sandwich as was the Cuban. And finally for dessert you can walk next door to The Cookie Jar pick anything from lemon meraing to cookies and cup cakes and they will put it on your check. I highly recommend lemon tart. The service was a little slow in the beginning, it looked like they were recovering from a unexpected busy lunch, but once they made ti to my table we did get great service.

The aptly named Be’wiched Bistro lives up to it’s name sake. Something magical is happening at this cute little bistro and it’s guaranteed that enchanted customers will squeal with delight upon the first nibble, sip or bite of their dish. I was introduced to this restaurant not by a gang of giggling gals but by my male co-workers who couldn’t stop ranting and raving about the food. When they told me it was located next door to the Cookie Jar, I laughed out loud because the first thing that popped into my head was«frilly» and«girly» and I couldn’t understand why a bunch of scruffy looking guys would be so «bewitched» by a sandwich shop. After my first visit, I understood why a pack guys could fall in love with this place. The sweetness of their décor is balanced by the seriousness of their food. Their entire menu is an exercise in simplicity. Fresh ingredients and interesting flavor profiles give simple menu items such as soups, sandwiches, pizzas or salads a new and interesting twist. Along with that, the servings are generous and you won’t leave hungry. I’ve had the opportunity to try the Pumpkin Lobster Bisque, the Leek and Roquefort Cheese Quiche, the Turkey and Brie Sandwich, Prosciutto Wrapped Dates and the Leek and Potato Soup and I’m happy to say that every single item was absolutely fantastic. The menu is reasonably priced($ 6-$ 13 I believe) which is outstanding when you consider the quality… and how can you not love that! Who knew magic could taste this good? :p So don’t wait too long before you go. I have a feeling that Be’wiched Bistro’s spell will soon have all of Montrose lining up at the door for their fabulous food.

After driving by this place many times I decided to stop in. Located right next to the Cookie Jar, I came in at 4:00PM. Even though they close at 3:00 on Tues-Thurs(Fri/Sat is till 9:00PM — Sun/Mon Closed), they still allowed me to make an order because the cook was still in the kitchen. They have a great variety of sandwiches, I chose half a Cuban sandwich w/a cup of pumpkin bisque. Any sandwich can come in half with soup or salad. It is a good thing I ordered half a sandwich because it was pretty big. My sandwich was stacked high, the bread was nice and crunchy, and the bisque was very tasty. It was fairly priced at $ 8.66 with tax. I’ll be heading back, but this time within their business hours. They have no liquor license so they said you can bring your own alcohol! NICE!
