I’m the kind of person who plans out long detailed spiteful Unilocal reviews. Generally to «get back» at whatever company has wronged me. So far none of these reviews have come to pass. So you can understand why I feel a little strange actually writing a good review. The mere fact that I’m actually going through with this review should speak immensely about Big Daddy’s. I’ve been coming to this location for about 15 or so years now. It’s been incredible from day one. I don’t think I’ve ever had a bad meal here, and the staff is always very polite. Prices have gone up with inflation but if you’re able to make it in time for the special it’s worth it! Hopefully Big Daddy’s isn’t going anywhere anytime soon!

One star for the good customer service. The food on the other hand was horrible! I usually go to pappas when I have a taste for some ribs but decided to stop in this place. The ribs were dry and tasteless, no seasoning and definitely not smoked. More like baked ribs to me. The cleanliness of this place is questionable as I did not even eat too much of my food. What a waste! Should’ve stuck to what I’m use too and went to pappas!!!

I like this place for local BBQ and great food. The brisket and great and loaded potato is awesome!

Went in there were no customers at all. Voice in back said wait a minute. Looked at prices and left. If I had no customers in my restaurant I would not be telling someone who came in to wait a couple of minutes. Also $ 7.75 for a stuffed BBQ baked potato seems high for what at best is a casual dine restaurant.

I have been seeing this place for years. Decided to come. Disappointing. I got a turkey Po-Boy. The word small is the best way to describe it. I honestly am headed to Wendy’s to grab something else. No value for the money. I gave it to stars because the turkey was tasty. What little bit there was. Nothing on it. No lettuce. Nothing. Just bread and meat.

Poor service. I really had to go back into the rain for 27 cents. On top of that, one of the guys were pretty rude. I also feel like the prices weren’t justified. Never again.

Below average food. Lacked salt, everything was dry and fatty. Ham tastes like deli meat. Service however was great and the guy working was super friendly.

I am surprised by all the scathing reviews of this place. We’ve been coming for years, before they split in ownership. The staff has always been friendly and helpful. We always get the 2 meat poboys– ask for the«moist» brisket, and jalapeño sausage. I enjoy their chicken– moist as well. Their pork ribs are good too. For take out, they are great. And their baked potatoes are HUGE. Get them with chopped beef. I do agree with some of the reviews about the sides– could be more flavorful. I add salt! But normally we will get a bag of chips. I will still come by here when I’m in the area.

This is my first time stopping by the place and I have been passing them for the last year and a half I give this place two stars only because my brisket was hot fresh and very tender. My brisket is tasteless you can barely taste the pit or smoke. Im shocked that this place is in business the barbecue brisket is tasteless. They are for one type and flavor of barbecue sauce and it is blah blah blah I have had better barbecue sauce bought from the store AND generic at that. I was not expecting too much and I did not smell smoke when I came into the establishment and also I have never heard any talk about any of the Big Daddy BBQ chains so I knew not to expect much. Nice atmosphere plenty of seating nice location nice value for the money. This place has really missed the mark it is okay because some people that are not big barbecue aficionados will enjoy it

This location is just as bad as the other Big Daddy locations. Terrible food, terrible service, and questionable cleanliness/food safety. This is not even close to real bbq. All the food here is low quality. The only thing that is passable is the sauce and the bread you get with the dinners. Im not sure why Jeff D. has called other reviewers liars. If you get food to go it comes in a Styrofoam container which can be considered a box to some. No one ever said the bread was toasted on the flat top. They said it LOOKED like it was tossed on a grill. In addition, I don’t see a review anywhere that said someone and their hubby ate for $ 50. It said«my family and I» ate there for $ 50. Unless you know how many people are in their family? Bottom line, this is a bad restaurant(using the term loosely)…believe all the one star reviews

We started eating here before there was a big daddy’s. It was called Gil’s. Mark & Marty were Gil’s partners & as happens they split. Gil’s opened up on eldridge before Big Daddy’s got their doors open so we went there. Wow the sauce was different and not in a good way. So when BD’s got the door open we tried it. That was when my youngest was 5. She’s now 28 and we’ll still be found there about every Sat noonish with the 3rd generation of people lovin Big Daddy’s BBQ. Some of the best sauce in town. The review were she says they put bread in her box didn’t eat there. They don’t have boxes and their bread is long rolls cut length wise, sopped in a butter mix and toasted in a machine not on the flat top. Liar number 1. And the one that fed herself and hubby for $ 50 liar number 2. I feed wife and myself, 2 daughters and their hubby’s and 5 grand kids for about $ 60 every Saturday. It’s in our budget. It’s not ur gourmet BBQ joint, just good food at reasonable prices. And lots to choose from. I look forward to many more lunches at Big Daddy’s. Thanks for being here!

My husband wanted to try this place for the longest, so finally we stopped. The meals are priced like any other BBQ joint but the portions were small. You get better portions from people that sell BBQ places on the streets. The brisket didn’t have any flavor, the potato salad as well was flavorless. Not worth the $ 50 bucks spent on my family and I to eat their.

Stopped here since I passed by it a few times. Wish I would have kept going. The only real plus was that the employee was sort of friendly. I ordered the bbq chicken dinner, with macaroni and cheesy potatoes. Bad. Choice. The chicken was pretty moist, but the sauce was not great. I’m willing to bet that I could have bought better sauce from a grocery store. The macaroni was runny and had no flavor! The potatoes were a little hard and also had no flavor. GROSS!!! It came with a piece of bread too, and it looked like they smeared a line of butter on it, tossed it on the grill for 5 seconds, then threw it in my box. Yuck. I would not return here again, even if I was offered money or free food lol. Noooo wayyy P. S. its hard to mess up bbq!!!

I drive past this BBQ place every day, finally decided to give them a whirl. Had 3 meat plate of brisket, ribs and turkey. My meats were cut to order. The meats were removed from saran wrap from a warming drawer. Brisket — Was dry and roast beefy, nothing to write home about. Turkey — was their best meat. I’m finding Houston excels at turkey smoking when it comes to BBQ places. Ribs — I was served a slop of meat with a few bones sticking out. I should have requested a better cut but didn’t, my bad They were totally inedible. I would not return here, everything seemed off to me. The place was nearly deserted at noon. I had made the choice to go here on a Friday when I really wanted a pork chop from Perry’s so I may be extra critical because I left hungry and it cost more to eat here than a $ 11.99 Perry’s pork chop on Friday. I did like all the 80’s posters here though. Quite the collection.

PLEASE do not eat at this place! I am really suprised this hasn’t happened to more people or we haven’t seen this before. We were just there the other day and a coworker opened her drink to refill and found a roach dead in her cup! The owner didn’t seemed very suprised or apologetic which was very unsettling(which was odd because he is usually very energetic/helpful). Basically he wasn’t concerned or worried about this whatsoever. To say the least the woman that drank the roach was mortified! Not to mention we all had stomach aches/pains for the next day or two. Also this doesnt seem to be a new problem as it was even stated on Local 2 news. Don’t get me wrong, I(WE) LOVED this place. We would go here all the time and even have them cater which makes this even more sad and a huge letdown. But after the recent happenings and article findings, my coworkers and I will never go back again…
