Today I had what has got to be some of the worst BBQ I have ever had. Wait, I shouldn’t call it BBQ, Brisket made in an oven is NOTBBQ. What was ordered; Lean Brisket Sandwich, Beans, Potato Salad. The oven baked brisket had no flavor to it whatsoever and was rubbery like in texture. They must have thrown a brisket in a pan and into the oven without even a rub on it. It was served with a small cup of BBQ sauce that was either Kraft’s Original or Cattleman’s, straight out of the bottle. The Beans and Potato Salad were equally as bad. Unilocalers wrote; Mark N.T. «My friend informed me of this restaurant. His brother is an owner and chef of the restaurant. There were a lot of parking spots.» Let me stop right there. The only reason you gave this place 5 stars is because your friend’s brother is owner/chef. There is a reason there was lots of parking spots there. The food. It’s terrible. Tisha, «How are you a BBQ joint but you don’t sell ribs! WTDTA? «Tisha, There is a reason this place does not sell ribs, IT’S NOT A REALBBQJOINT! You can’t BBQ in an oven. Andrew «I think this is a pretty solid BBQ joint«Andrew, If you are calling this solid BBQ, then you must think the burgers at McDonald’s are gourmet. SteveT «The Food is absolutely perfection!!!». Steve, Are you kidding me?!! You must think Taco Bell is «Authentic» Mexican. If there was the no star option, that’s what this place would get from me.

I ordered a couple of BBQ(chopped beef) stuffed baked potatoes and ½ lb. of their pulled pork. All of this ordered«to go». The sauce must have come straight out of a bottle from a retailer. My stomach had bad after effects on the potato which was not tender and was not stuffed with much. I don’t know where the cheese, butter, sour cream, and onions were. If they were there, there wasn’t much. About the pulled pork… I opened it and saw small ¼ inch cubed pork that didn’t look or smell right to me. I disposed it… Live and learn.

Do not order the steak. It was old and so wrongly cooked. Burgers are gross and the toppings are self served and not maintained(dirty).

AMAZING! We had a cheddar burger with onion rings, mushroom and onion cheeseburger with sweet potato fries and a chef salad for lunch at work and everything was awesome! Plenty of food, lots of onions, mushrooms and cheese on the burger. We will definitely order here again! Prices reasonable.

My family and I will definitely come back the portions of the sandwiches were just right completely satisfying in the words of my husband. I had a Santa Monica chicken sandwich with potato fries the chicken was tender the guacamole and the Pico were just the right combination with that amazing Sheila Parton bun I am full to the brim. My husband had the pulled pork sandwich he liked it very much his only complain is that the bbq sauce could of been better it’s just felt like he could of bought the sauce at the store. My son had the bbq sandwich a good portion for a 7yr old his meal came with an ice cream an added bonus, he had some trouble finishing his meal. The pecan pie was pretty good I would buy it again. All in all the service was good the guy taking the orders knows his menu and what to suggest and we will be back no doubt about that

Just bad… fast food type restaurant, mystery meat. Ugh, hope I keep down what I ate. One star is because at least their beer was cold.

The brisket is superb. Tender and moist with perfect texture. Some other BBQ places usually make it dry. The sausage also very good. I ordered one for dining in then I ordered one more togo for family after realizing they would love it.

My friend informed me of this restaurant. His brother is an owner and chef of the restaurant. There were a lot of parking spots. This restaurant was big. The owner is a Vietnamese. But he liked TXBBQ. I ordered 3BBQ plate. Briskets, chicken, sausage were great. Especially, I liked Chicken. I saw game machines. There is one small Television. I hope that the restaurant buys large one enough to watch football. This is a great restaurant. I recommend everyone to go there.

I would give this place zero stars if it were possible. Horrible. My husband and I went in for lunch today. First problem is that this is supposed to be a BBQ place, but no ribs? Second problem, we both ordered the 2 meat plate with sausage and ribs. Just AWFUL. Less than a quarter pound of meat for $ 12.00. The potato salad is bland and the pintos were mealy. The onion rings are actually onion strings and were limp and greasy. The brisket had no smoke ring and was obviously reheated. The sausage was store bought. The 3rd problem was the lack of desire to correct the problem by staff. We left hungry and $ 30 poorer. This place is just horrible. Save your money. I’ve had better bbq at fast food restaurants.

Great customer service. From 3pm to 630p it’s happy Hr which include 30% off of appetizers. I decided to try the fried pickles l. Soooooo good. Omg the onion rings are the best Ive ever had and im a onion ring convesiour l. Very very good. Must try. I also had the link plate. Which is very good. This is a good neighborhood BBQ spot if you don’t want to go far. Not as good as a hood BBQ hood spot though

Always good and fresh burgers! They are very friendly and the food is yummy! I am a big fan of the vegetarian burger, since I don’t eat meat this is perfect for me! My husband had almost all the burgers on the menu and he likes them all!

I think this is a pretty solid BBQ joint in terms of pricing, service, and taste. I got a TON of food + fountain drink for under 15 bucks. The brisket is a little on the dry/lean side, but that’s probably heart healthier if there is such a thing for BBQ. The sausage links were pretty tasty and I did enjoy my sides of fries and potato salad. The service was what you’d expect from a mom and pop joint — very warm and welcoming. I think this is a great place to snag a bite when you’re in the area and have to cram in a lunch and head back to the office, but not necessarily the *must stand outside for hours* sort of BBQ.

My family had lunch here around 2pm on a Saturday after a little league game. We just moved to the area and have been on the search for good Texas BBQ. We were not impressed with the quality of food or service. We ordered a 2 meat plate with sausage and brisket. The brisket was gray, looked and tasted old. My brisket sandwich wasn’t much better. I really wanted to like this place since its close to home.

Stopped in to eat dinner with my husband here. We both ordered our food and two soft drinks. While our food was being prepared, we started to pour our drinks. The ice machine was out. My husband went up to the young guy working the register to let him know. Without looking up from his phone(texting), he grunted out a «yeah, k» as a responce. We waited 15 minutes and he never refilled the machine or took our drinks to fill them in the back. Finally a manager walked out from the back. We told him that the machine was out and asked for ice. He immediately apologize and got what we needed. The young guy at the register still continued to text. The food was good. The manager was friendly. But the kid’s attitude at the register will most likely keep us from returning.

How are you a BBQ joint but you don’t sell ribs! WTDTA? Apparently at Sweet Mesquite… unbeknownst to me and my boo when we decided to try out this spot for lunch that a fellow Unilocaler bragged about, we were highly disappointed. And my boo wanted mac & cheese and they didn’t have that either, but I don’t judge the non m&c as hard… but no ribs, I was dumbfounded. That being said, I inquired about the ribs and most popular dish and the kind lady at the counter smiled and said no ribs but their baked potatoes were most popular. I’d had a spud the previous day and decided to go with the brisket plate, onion rings(at nice lady’s rec.), my girl went with the fries and we both ordered potato salad. We paid, got drinks and condiments and took a seat. They called my name, and the brisket looked pretty good. Already came with a slather of bbq sauce and an extra cup on the side. My onion rings were thin & plentiful but too oily, the fries were delicious and we both agreed the potato salad needed work. It was served entirely too cold and devoid of any seasonings. It’s also served with 2 thick slices of sweet hawaiian style bread toasted on one side. Now the main attraction: the brisket! It was actually pretty good, I can imagine it being on a spud with all the goodies and loving every bite. The only issue with the meat was it wasn’t hot enough. It was served a bit above room temperature. The BBQ sauce was delicious, not overly tomato based liked some places. The service here is fantastic. Everyone was nice from the counter to our table. We were checked on twice while eating. If I worked closer, I’d probably return sooner to try the spud but I’m sure I will one day anyway… Give them a try, just don’t expect any ribs!

Came to Houston Texas buy a car and while waiting for it to be ready we came here to eat. What a great surprise. Lots s scrumptious choices(even for our son with the wheat allergy). Clean, wonderful atmosphere, we loved the 40’s music. Everything is presented well and the fresh mint for our tea was such a nice touch. If we lived here we’d come all the time!!!

Okay, Tonia K. MADEMEDOIT! This is her spot, y’all. So, after viewing Tonia’s pic on my timeline, Bertha(my inner fatty) and I had a random craving for a BBQ hot link with extra pickles and onions. Yes, that specific. I came to Sweet Mesquite and ordered the exact same thing. The total came to about six bucks and some change. Not bad. I’m used to those spicy whole links on regular white or wheat bread that most BBQ places serve, but Sweet Mesquite offered a pleasant alternative. The link came cut up and reminded me of those breakfast sausages(think Hillshire Farm), only better. The bun was huge and soft like a Hawaiian roll. And that BBQ sauce? Don’t get me started. Downright lip-smackable!(It comes on the side so you can pour it on or dip your sandwich as you please). Perfect blend of sweet and tangy. I made sure to load it up with onions, pickles and jalapeños from their condiment area. And I savored every bite. The restaurant is huge and family-friendly. The checkered tablecloths are a nice touch and TVs are always a bonus. The prices are pretty reasonable, so you may find me stalking Tonia quite frequently.

This is my «run-in» spot. I love their baked potatoes. They are big and loaded with all of my favorites… butter, cheese, sour cream, chives and lots of real bacon bits. Yummy! Their BBQ sandwiches are another favorite of mine. The meat is always cooked to perfection, and the BBQ sauce is delicious. If you have kids, this is a great place to bring your kids. They have a moonwalk for the kids to play in while you wait for your food. The restaurant is huge on the inside, so this would be a great place for a group to have lunch or dinner. The staff is always super nice and very helpful. If you want extra topping or BBQ sauce, just ask. They are always willing to give you extra, and they give you a lot. Oh, the onion rings are really good too. Try them with a fat, juicy hamburger and you will be extremely happy all day long. I love this place because you can bring your entire family here. Good food, good people, and a place the kids will like. You can’t go wrong if you choose this location.

sweet mesquite is a staple restaurant for the whole #family in the energy corridor. they are known for their loaded nachos, beef brisket, chopped beef sandwich and just about all the other menu items are just as delicious. Items range from all american burgers to soft tacos and huge chocolate chip cookies! They offer a free bouncy castle when family dinner in. Plus it’s one of the few«arcades» left in Houston.
