Speedy service Diverse options(from wings tacos) Great location Bodegas is similar to Chipotle but with a full bar! Out of all the protein choices for tacos or nachos my favorite is the shredded chicken. Parking can be a bit of a hassle but that’s my only complaint.

Got here with a buddy an the kitchen was already closed. The guys made an effort and made us anything we wanted. The Fish Tacos were awesome, together with authentic Mexican beer. They also have a good Tequila selection.

I’m m bout this place. Cold Modelo Especial on tap, very friendly and fast service! The shrimp tacos were excellent, the fish tacos were second place. I feel like they needed an adobo sauce and maybe some cabbage, but i like that its a build your own concept. No slouching on the fresh avocado too. The chili con queso add carne was on point. I’d prolly do 3.5−4 stars if the fish tacos had been just a little bit better. Solid joint and I’d come back!

Fantastic. Great service. Great atmosphere. The employees were very nice and helpful. The food was so fresh and flavorful. The tacos with spicy beef were my favorite. Fast service too. Chipotle sucks in comparison.

Another great meal. Steak nachos were awesome and big enough to share. Steak enchiladas highly recommended.

I had bookmarked this place a while back because the drug reps brought Bodegas in for lunch one day and from what I sampled I wanted to try it out more a dine-in. This place reminds me of Chipotle and Freebirds but with a little more variety and menu items. I LOVE Chipotle(who doesn’t) but I think Bodegas has the better value when it comes to building your own bowl. I went with a chicken salad bowl and they are SUPER huge like the bowls you get at Salata. My kids ordered basic chicken strips & fries. The service was fast and the food was great. My only complaint is I got confused about where to place your order because it was no signage that stated so.

Taken my students here a bunch, pretty decent food/choices. Not sure if the quality is of other Mexican restaurants, but it is decent for a quick lunch. Like chipotle, you can choose what you want. Nice seating on the patio in the fall/winter.

This place is absolutely amazing and the tacos have given me life. I will come here as soon as I can find it again. I think I drank cucumber water that was really good so I would get that. All in all a pretty good fuckin trip to taco town. 10⁄10 would taco again

The best part about this restaurant is its proximity to the McGovern Centennial Gardens. Grab a taco salad and come enjoy the beauty of this park. The food is so so. Average order at-the-counter Mexican fare. But it’s not bad and price is right(other than $ 1 extra for a TINY dollop of guac).

Honestly I usually Love Bodegas but today was just horrible. I don’t know where they hired their new employees from but they need to send them right back to whatever career fair they came from. They’re rude, can’t even make a burrito & don’t care at all whether or not you’re even remotely content with your food. I ordered a burrito(the same exact way I order it every time I come) Spanish rice, steak, guac, sour cream & extra hot sauce. My burrito was being rolled by some guy who didn’t even want to work today because it was literally not even held together even after being wrapped in foil. It comes to the register where I’m paying for my food but I can see the burrito coming out of the foil & it wasn’t bursting at the seems because it was too big because at most this thing is Half the size of a chipotle burrito. Anyways, she said«that’s what happens when you get beans & sauce in a burrito»… What the F? No refund, no offer to remake my food, if I wasn’t on my way to work I would have just walked out right then and there. One star for the manager. I called & explained the situation and he offered me a free remake of my meal the next time I come in. Not sure I would come again but we will see. *added a picture of my burrito for reference

I love chains like Chipotle, Freebirds, and Bullritos, but sometimes you want to try something new that is not a chain restaurant. In my opinion, Bodegas beats those places out. It’s a similar concept, but they also have other Tex-Mex type food like enchiladas, fish tacos and even a burger. Their ingredients taste fresh and everything we tried tasted fantastic. I ordered the burrito bowl which was totally filling. The chips and queso was on point as well. Another plus is the full bar. My wife ordered the fresh basil martini and it was refreshing and delicious. I opted for a draft beer which hit the spot also. The only negative is the parking situation. I had to park down the street. Luckily it was after 6, so paying the meter was not necessary. All in all, it’s definitely on my list of places to go back to when in the area.

A local rendition of Chipotle’s fast casual dining, with slightly more variety. I went with a group on a random weekday, and we had no trouble finding a table. The strengths: their menu is extremely diverse, and the make your own definitely leaves room for creativity. I ordered the vegetarian salad option. What started out as a bundle of lettuce quickly turned into a gargantuan bowl of a feast with black beans, rice, corn, salsa, and more. My friends all got the create your own nacho bowl, which they inhaled without complaint. The weaknesses: I found the food to be mediocre. With all the ingredients meshed into one bowl, I could not taste any of the individual flavors of the entrée, and frankly found it to be a bit bland and uninteresting. Finally: the parking– impossible to find. There are a couple of parking garages encircling the restaurant, and free street parking after 6pm. However, the street parking is always occupied, so free parking tends to be very limited.

Great location near the zoo/museums. I love that they have patio seating, lines with tall oaks and string lighting! So far I’ve only had the shrimp tacos and fried plantains and I was not disappointed. I also had a cucumber lemonade!!! Seriously, everyone needs to try it! Indoor seating was pretty cool but I wanted to enjoy the breeze outside. There is street parking so you don’t have to walk far after loading up on three shrimp tacos, plantains and cucumber lemonade. Don’t judge me. Haha.

What this place does well: ambiance, outdoor seating, and good choice of bachata music. Also, more than adequate serving sizes. Not so well: Unfornately, those large serving sizes lack in flavor/refinement and often go to waste. I think they suffer from too diverse of a menu. Did no one else find it strange that the #1 at «Bodega’s Taco Shop» is a hamburger?

I was getting hangry(hungry + angry) which is something I usually don’t deal with. I actually felt myself get hungry and get impatient with people while I was at the Fine Arts Museum. Luckily, my boyfriend found a taco joint in walking distance from where we were. He did a great job on finding this place because I thought this was great. Other than the fact that the menu was confusing to read/look at, the food was very good. I ended up getting the enchiladas and my boyfriend got tacos. The enchiladas by itself was already spicy. I ended up getting some salsa to make it even more spicy(although it wasn’t as spicy as I hoped). Other than that, everything was delicious.

This is a great Mexican restaurant with a terrible parking situation. I came her two days ago and tried to come back this evening but couldn’t because there was no no place to park. I’m wondering how much business they’ve lost because of this? Having said that, the food is great. I love the fact that I can build my own tacos or nachos, à la carte. There’s nothing on there that I didn’t like b/c I told them exactly what to throw on, from start to finish. One guy who was working there was super energetic. He reminded me of Popeye once he took his spinach. He took my order, built my nachos, rung me up, cleaned up all the tables and as soon as I was done with my water, grabbed the cup. This guy is worth 10 employees(wish I could remember his name). He never stopped working! The owner could fire everyone except him and nobody notice. Overall, I liked this restaurant. They have a bar with a decent beer selection.+ several happy hour deals. Adequate televisions to watch a game. Nothing bad except the horrendous parking.

This is my default spot for delicious margs and relatively authentic Tex Mex for cheap. No place has ever filled me up the way the nacho bowl has; even when shared, we can’t finish. The quesadillas(and burritos, and everything else) are huge, and there are endless options for toppings. I’ve never even heard of half the salsas they offer! This $ 8 meal can last you all day. And honestly, it’s more economically efficient to get a full pitcher of margarita. There are multiple tvs, so it’s a great spot to catch a game. Also, look out for nights when they have salsa dancing!

Where should you go before or after soaking up all those knowledge from the Houston museums? Go get some delicious tacos from Bodega’s! Located beside MFAH’s visitor center and behind the Natural Science Museum, Bodega’s is a convenient food stop for those who are exploring the Museum District. In fact, I would daresay that this is best food stop you can make in the Museum District! Bodega’s is a super chill café that is perfect for casual hangouts or dates. The food is pretty cheap and fulfilling, so you don’t ever have to worry about nuking your wallet going there! Of course, I wouldn’t recommend this place if the food wasn’t any good! Frankly I am not a fan of Mexican food, but Bodega’s is one of the few places I’m willing to ignore my anti-preference. My personal favorite is shrimp taco, which comes piping hot and overfilled in trio plus a large drink for less than $ 10. There are also other combos including fish tacos and chicken fingers. Good food, great service, chill atmosphere made my experience there terrific! — tl;dr version –Conveniently located near museums –Perfect for casual hangouts and dates –Cheap, fulfilling, delicious food!
