I love eating eggchiladas in the middle of the night. Chapultepec is the perfect place for me to do that! An egg on top of an enchilada, who would have thought it? The staff is always nice, the salsa is always spicy, and their slogan is, «Where the beautiful people meet.» Any time anyone is visiting Houston, I bring them to Chapultepec. A true Houston gem!

Some solid tex-mex close to midtown. It’s in a pretty run down neighborhood, with a tiny, annoying parking lot, but it’s darn good cheap tex-mex. I highly recommend the horchata here — it’s huge and can(should) be shared with multiple people if you’re not germaphobic. Check out their daily specials — I got the beef milanese, which was great! It’s a little on the big side for just one meal, but not enough to really split for two meals, but that’s fine with me. Just be prepared to be a little bit uncomfortable afterwards! Really, my only complaints is the parking situation. The lot is cramped, and if there are even more than a couple cars, it seems almost impossible to get your car turned around to exit. There’s street parking around though, so if the lot scares you off, there’s a few other streets nearby you can try.

I ate here with the family tonight. When we walked in, we got hit with this blast of piss smell. I was disappointed because the food was mediocre and expensive for what we got in quantity and quality. The service was good though and I like the location but that was just about it.

Today is my second visit here and the chile rellenos plate was super-good. Actually, that’s what my companion got along with the vegetarian special… she hoarded the rice but wanted me to taste the pepper, which reminded her of her Mexican grandmother’s chile. Sweet place that we definitely recommend.

Came here for a late lunch. Entrance is around the back. They didn’t have any music playing but it was cheap and fast.

Been coming to Chapultepec since 1980. Love this place for morning breakfast to lunch and dinner and also the late late place to get some to eat in the middle of the night. Always great! And their Pozole is the most awesome!

This front area reminds me of all the quinces I went to growing up or after parties for any funerals. It’s homey décor and feel brings me back to the good olé days when I was little running around in a diaper and no shoes like the little Mexican child I was. Delicious drinks to drank. Generic food but when you drunk on the verge of vomiting and need that grease, you can’t hate.

Average food… Ok for emergencies. However hours are not consistent. It is Thursday morning 6:30 am… They are not open.

6 stars!!! 24 hour Mexican joint with 24 hour deliciousness. It is definitely a light night favorite with the locals, always packed at 2am! They have a bar too, with all liquor and beer. Mostly Mexican beer but they have others too. Lots of seating and they let the local artists paint the walls inside and outside with super cool murals. And they’re always changing. The servers don’t speak a whole lot of English but they are very good and very quick. The food is just fantastic. I’ve had menudo, carne guisada, fajitas, caldos de res, enchiladas the works and they have never disappointed me! Bathrooms are way clean. Did I say the Aqua de Horchata is to die for? They also have really good tamarindo. And they give you a huge glass of it! It might be hard if you don’t know what to look for when trying to find it, it’s a white creepy looking building with blacked out windows and artsy fartsy graffiti murals all over it.

There are many Tex-Mex places in Houston but then there is Chapultepec Lupita. No matter what time of day or night you come the food and drinks are always on point. The margarita menu is extensive and it has something for everyone. I tend to order the Beef Enchiladas but when I venture off and order something new it’s never disappointing.

I had better texMex food. A bit pricey for the food quality. Salsa is good but they charge for extra chips :/just a one time visit for me

I’ll have to warn you — I was drunk when we went here on a late Saturday night. My review could all be a false memory that’s completely untrue. However, as a chubby dude who likes to eat — that’s probably not the case. The parking situation is pretty terrible — but some of the places in neartown, midtown, montrose are all like this — park behind the building in a tiny space where you just might get blocked in. We were sat immediately. Tables and chairs are plastic, the interior is aged and old. I was skeptical. However, the chips and salsa were fantastic. We got queso. Oh, the queso. It waas fan-freaking-tastic. And you get quite a bit too — no skimping here. My chicken quesadillas were on point. Tortillas were chewy and tasted like they were made with love. My boyfriend wasn’t impressed with his torta, but everyone else was completely silent as they demolished their plates. The waitresses are apparently used to dealing with a bunch of drunkards, but they got us our food in a extremely timely manner with little mistakes. Drinks were never empty, they split the bill with no questions asked(why is that so hard sometimes?!) and helpfully pointed out the queso dripped onto my shirt.(Oops.) I want to go back.

My measure for tex-mex restaurants is «how good is their salsa»? Chipultapec Lupita has great salsa. It’s spicy, but not overwhelming, and has a variety of flavors that gets the taste buds fired up. The service was good, we had a large group and they had no problem doing separate checks. The food was okay, I’ve had better at some of the chain tex-mex restraunts. Chipultapec definitely gets the nod over a chain for location and atmosphere. It’s in a run down building, but it was clean. At least, I didnt notice any overt cleanliness violations(I do look out for these things). I would go to Chipultapec Lupita again if I was in the area, but I wouldn’t go out of my way.

Hole in the wall restaurants are the best! Great food and drinks. You sit yourself when you walk in. Servers are friendly, open 24 hrs and breakfast served all day!

After eating breakfast at a couple of different places the last couple of weeks — I’ve come back to give this place their due review. The breakfast came hot for our table of 4 — the eggs were made just how I like them over the chilaquiles. The crispy corn tortilla chips were fried to perfection. The corn flavor wakes up when you fry it hot and the crispy finish was perfect. Omg I am the chilaquile-whisper ha haa. The salsa was fresh and spicy. we’ll be back soon!

Def one of my all time favorite spots. The food is always on point. The salsa is nice and spicy. And the ritas options are all amazing(over 20 choices) The servers here are always super sweet. Highly recommend!

Pretty solid for late-night eats. The restaurant is pretty big and runs pretty efficiently, but the food I’ve gotten is usually mediocre. Although they are nothing to write home about, the chicken enchiladas verdes are still a pretty safe bet/solid choice.

Chapultepec Luptita, «Where the Beautiful People Meet» is a 24-hour Tex Mex joint located next to a satanic bookstore. It offers cheap, heaping plates of any Tex Mex dish under the sun and features 17 different margaritas and more than 100(count ‘em!) different tequilas. Honestly, the food is relatively average and their queso is a heart-attack inducing cheese dip, but what are you really expecting at 3AM? Plus, what really makes this place is the atmosphere. I’ve shared this restaurant with everybody from between a dozen cops at 4AM to a group of belligerent frenchmen singing drinking songs, all while snarfing down an 8-inch burrito filled completely with shredded beef(vegetables? Hah!) and slathered in enough queso to make your heart stutter. Seriously, this is the place for your late-night drunchies. Roll in at two in the morning, throw some tunes on the jukebox(I find that Fat-Bottomed Girls is usually a crowd-pleaser) and enjoy a plate of their amazing enchiladas while sipping from their huge glasses of water. It’s even within walking distance from Rice University, if you’re willing to make the trek. There’s no better way to kick-start your hangover recovery than Chapultepec, and while you probably wouldn’t want to bring a date here, I guarantee you you won’t leave disappointed. I don’t even remember the first time somebody dragged me here at some ungodly hour. All I do remember is waking up with a bellyful of smiles and a clear head, and sometimes that’s all you’re asking for.

You seat yourself where ever you’d like and chips and salsa is brought to you. The salsa is super spicy but delicious! Drinks were strong and they had a happy hour special going on all day Friday. The food is decent, but the portions are huge and cheap. It’s a hole in the wall place, but it’s affordable, 24 hours, and great tasting!
