The meat is tender(and that’s important in BBQ); and, they smoke it well. I like this place much better than the chain ones nearby. They staff is helpful and friendly. Haven’t had anything here that I didn’t enjoy. I recommend and I will return.

Been here 2x. Nice service but the brisket was dry and the sauce was so so. Nice side options but would rather go to different BBQ joints.

Waste of money on a turkey sandwhich… just disgusting. We ended up throwing it away. The Fries were bad as well.

Tried the Super Spud. Stuffed with brisket. Not bad. A little dry. Next time I’ll ask for extra butter. Great atmosphere. Nice place.

I was hoping this place would be awesome dince it’s close to work, but I was so disappointed. I ordered the two meat playe with ribs and sliced brisket. The brisket was decent, but the ribs were awful. I couldn’t get them off the bone and they were chewy. It was a complete waste of my money. Sides were not memorable.

BBQ Dive –just like I like it. Not a four-star dining experience if your looking for ambience –but the food was off the hook! The place is just straight up cool! I had Pulled Pork and Chicken Breast. Pork was really good –but the chicken was the best I have ever eaten -(short of my smoker). Plenty of food and reasonable prices. Sauce is hearty –not too sweet. I’ll go back. Don’t miss it if your in the mood for good BBQ!

…nothing to get excited about. With a name like ‘Brown Sugars BBQ’ I was expecting a grand slam meal, this place was a no hitter. Subpar BBQ at the most

I’ve always wanted to try their BBQ, so my daughter and I went in; we ordered two chopped beef sandwich and with BBQ sauce on it, there was no flavor. I was very disappointed, especially after the cost. I thought I had ordered three sandwiches and they left one out, after pricing everything I only paid for two so that added more disappointment. Oh I almost forgot, the peach cobbler was nasty. This whole experience with Brown Sugar was a disappointment with the food but we did get great service.

I have passed by this place a few times, finally decided to try it out. The food was terrible and the service was worse. My fiancée and I stopped in. he ordered the ribs, I ordered a coffee and a slice of pie. I could not drink my coffee because there were so many coffee grounds floating around in it. I tried to take them out, but there were just too many, the pie had an odd smell and it just seemed as though it had been sitting out for a very long time. The ribs that my fiancée ordered we dry and looked and smelled burnt. He took one bite and said lets go. It was so bad! I walked up to the lady(the only one working there that day, hispanic lady) she asked how everything was. So i told her… I said I couldn’t drink the coffee because there were too many coffee grounds in it, I told her about the pie and the ribs… I explained that we were unsatisfied customers. I asked if maybe she could take the ribs back and he could order something else, i didn’t want anything. She said she would find out. I went back and sat at our table waiting for her to come by. … she never came back. I went back up to the counter and ask her if she was. going to be able to switch out our order… she looked nervous and said, again, she would be back. this time I waited at the counter while she went to the back. I heard loud talking, then a man with a heavy accent came out to meet me at the counter. he yelled at me he said nothing was wrong with the food. he asked why we had eaten the food if we didn’t like it, I asked him to bring the plates back out so that he can see that the food had not been eaten. I asked him to lower his voice, he continued to yell and then accused me of running some kind of scam where I go to restaurants and try to get food for free?! I explained to him that I didn’t want my money back I just wanted to know if we could order something else… and again i pointed out that we had not eaten the food. He said then how do you know it wasn’t good! We obviously tasted it… i thought that would be a given… He asked me what was wrong with the coffee… I told him about the coffee grounds. he said that his coffee pot was broken and then said to me «what do you want me to do?!» I dunno… get a new one? not serve coffee until it’s fixed? either way I couldn’t speak to him… he yelled at us the whole time and told us that we are never welcome at his establishment. I assured him he had nothing to worry about and we would not be coming back. I understood then why the lady at the front didn’t want to go ask about switching out the order! In conclusion… the food was not fresh, to say the least. I wouldn’t feed it to my dog, nor do i think he would want to eat it. The staff, and possible owner were ridiculous skip this place at all costs! You have been warned!

This is my favorite Bbq joint! The lady who works here is sweet and kind. The food is good and prices are reasonable. I highly recommend the stuffed baked potato and their brisket. Yummy!

Nope. Flavorless brisket and very gelatinous links. Sauce is mediocre at best. The lady at the counter is super nice. Pretty criminal for this joint to stay open but the rent in this location is cheap so they will keep hanging on. Between nude strip club and Spanish rumba club.

With a location right off the feeder of I-45 Southbound, in the strip center next to the Rumba Club, I wouldn’t expect this place to be any good. That’s what I get for assuming. After looking up places to grab a quick lunch the reviews of Brown Sugar BBQ caught my eye and I decided to give them a shot. Inside it looks like a standard BBQ restaurant — nothing fancy, walk-up counter, and daily specials drawn on the blackboard. The service is outstanding; they take time to answer any questions, or even help you figure out what you want to eat for lunch. Also, the food is ready LIGHTNINGFAST! I was in and out, with baked potato in hand, in less than 4 min at around 12:15 on a Monday. Beat that McDonalds! As for the food goes, it’s very standard. Good olé slow cooked brisket, and sauce that tastes like bbq sauce in Texas should taste. Nothing really outstanding taste-wise, although if you’re craving a bbq lunch in South Houston, it’ll hit the spot. Overall: Great service, Fast food, Good value.

This place you will find kind of on the feeder but blocked by another business. It is flanked by a Shermin Williams and a Gringos restaurant. There is a lady that works here that has been here for years and years(says my boss that has been coming here for years and years) and she is genuinly nice. She speaks Spanish by the way if you prefer to communicate that with her. I had the ribs and sausage which was pretty decent. The flavor did not jump out as acidic with the bbq sauce but it was not fall off the bone ribs. The sausage was not mushy like a store bought«Ekridge» *sp* one but not your experience surprising party in your mouth product either. Inside is comfortable, there didn’t seem to be that many tables but it probably is just suffice for this area and business. I came here about 1:30 pm after the lunch rush so at the moment I cannot inform you if there is standing room only at noon or not. Parking should not be too much of a problem. It is not over kill nor is it dinky. It is worth another trip here. I forgot the mention the prices are on average as any BBQ place so support a mom and pop business and give it a try! ====================================================== Tip for new Unilocalers and Unilocalettes: Cut your reviews if they are long into paragraphs. Basic. Nothing too special. I’ve definitely have had better. But it wasn’t bad. The sausage is good. The brisket doesn’t have much flavor, and the bbq sauce is also pretty basic.

Always a great place to go for some good, hearty bbq. Baked potatoes are great. Just typing about this makes me want one right now… Dang… Anyways, they are very friendly. Will def stop by if I’m close and want bbq.

Great place for a big, brisket stuffed baked potato! Huge potatoes, lots of butter, and most importantly, lots of meat! Great smoky flavor. The BBQ sauce is ok, doesnt overpower the flavor of the meat, but could use a little something. A little hard to find, right by Almeda mall, but worth the effort. And the owners are very friendly, I feel like I’m ordering from my Aunt or something when I’m there!
