Great gyros, shawarmas, lamb shanks, and tons of varieties of hummus. Real spit. Fresh bread. similar to d*imassis concept. Big selection, fresh, spacious.

The selection here is quite limited in terms of main entrees. What they do have, ranges from quite tasty, to just weird tasting. I really liked the several types of hummus that was offered, as well as the Baba Ghanough. I felt as though the jalapeño hummus is definitely worth getting along with the cilantro-lime hummus. Definitely of the 5 hummus that were available, those 2 stood out the most. The kibby was weird tasting as if they bathed the ground meat in a mint bathe… no mas I say… no mas! Also, the dolmas had a weird after taste that made me do one and one with that dish. The baked fish lacked flavor and character. Vegetables were okay at best, and the potatoes with cilantro, garlic and lemon was the stand out winner of the side dishes. The lamb and chicken that was spinning on that roaster stick was quite tasty. The cucumber sauce added another level of yum to the entire mix. Between that mixture, and the very well prepared baked chicken, this place was worth my time. The baked chicken alone is tasty enough for a 6 piece consumption, and the skewered meat is at least a 3 plate adventure. I think the baklava they served was probably the best I ever tasted. There was this weird cake that I would never allow inside my oral cavity again! I did not try either soup. All in all, I enjoyed my time here, but since they lacked so many options, I will not run here in the future. If I am in the area, I would not hesitate to give them another whirl.

DONOTGOTHERE!!! They pretend to have a lot of dishes to choose from. LIES. Everything was rice and chicken mixed together. There was lamb too. And I guess the difference was in the rice color, maybe that is what they consider a variation of the buffet. The bread tasted like it was out there for days. I looked at the salad and it didn’t look trusworthy. The pastries just didn’t look good, it looked old! By the way, the chicken and lamb tasted like it was made few days ago. And, my date saw someone in the kitchen microwaving the food! Safe your money and go elsewhere or you will regret it.

The place is large with a variety of food. There were only 3 or 4 other tables in when we went, not crowded at all. The staff was nice. We went at about 7:45 pm and the selection was still good. They close at 8pm, weird. The food is similar to that at Dimassi’s, a lot of the items were the same. The chicken they carve for you was great, very juicy. We will be going back.

I am going to base this review on the standard good /bad aspects of the restaurant. The good: Great select of salads and hummus, they have about 5 – 6 different flavors of hummus to choose from. The vegetables are also very good. Love the potatoes and the cauliflower. The bad: The grilled meats selection is so-so. They have chicken, fish, lamb shank that are all usually on a tray of oily sauce The 3 – 4 times that I have been here around lunch time, the place has been dead. I am not sure how much longer they are going to be around unless they start getting a larger crowd. Overall, for a buffet this place is good(not great). There are many mediterranean restaurants in the area that are a lot better. I do prefer this place over Demassi’s mainly because the salads are fresh, and they have the large selection of hummus to select from.

Love the lamb shanks!!! with the deal that i got from Groupon, it’s hard for me to not give it a 5 stars. Even thou without the discount, it’s only $ 10.99 and you can have unlimited lamb shanks and chicken kabobs!!!, what a deal!!! The asmosphere is kind of weird b/c there were a huge area in the middle. Keep in mind that it closed on SUNDAY(drove all the way here on Sunday once and found out it’s closed)

This is a notch below Dimassi’s. The space reminds me of a school cafeteria with the high ceilings. But the countertops and display are high end. It’s a mix. The seating area and interior is new but they seemed to run out of money or interest in decorating the rest of the restaurant. That aside, let’s talk about food. The food was cooked, but as most buffets, it started getting dry and soggy. I thought it was cool that someone was behind the counter to make fresh gyro and shwarma sandwiches. But they were cooked with too much oil and the sandwich was poorly constructed and fell apart. It was like I was drinking oil. The best dishes out of the hotline were the lamb and the baked chicken. Everything else lacked sufficient spice and flavor. The dessert line consisted of bite size cookies which were good, but they were the size of a fingerprint. These cookies were similar in taste and texture. The highlight was the cold food salad bar, which had a variety of hummus. I think they are really trying here. I feel, however, that Droubi did a much better job back when it was non-buffet.

This place doesn’t have fab atmosphere, but the tabouleh is the best I have had. There is a *huge* selection. The mixed vegetables, the potatoes, all the salads. delicious. The owner and the hostess were attentive and friendly. We never had a dirty dish just sit on our table. Can’t beat the price-$ 10.99 I will definitely go back.

Round one… drove by last night about 7, 7:30 to give the place a try. I mean, its prime time dinner time. However, no cars whatsoever in their grand parking lot. With what the reviews have been, we kept driving by. Will try again when there’s at least 2 cars. lol. Update: Attempted again… And guess what… They shut down!!:(

I likes it here. The food & atmosphere is probably more along the lines of 3 to 3.5 stars, but they won me over with their service & price. So, Casbah took over the location where Droubi’s Café & Grocery was for many years(next to the Jack-in-the-Box, and diagonally across the street from The Vitamin Shop). They still need their official store-front sign, and it’ll probably take a few more weeks before this place catches on. You walk in, pay at the cashier stand, and off you go. The hubs said that the pretty hostess alone deserves the extra star for providing unexpected eye candy; I nodded, and simply suggested he get his own Unilocal account. Now it is a bit awkward when you first step in. It’s a huge space, and coupled with the fact that it wasn’t busy when we came in, it only added to the initial feeling of uneasiness with those blank walls staring back at you. There’s just this lack of visual stimulation, and a little Mediterranean or Middle Eastern-inspired décor or paint could help brighten up and finish the look of the place; but hey, I came here to eat, not watch a light show. Anyhow, after the first two or three plates, you’ll find that the initial awkwardness dissipates, you won’t care what the walls looked liked. As far as the buffet set up goes, you’ll see they have 3 stations available: — the hotline with all the rice, meats, veg(and those yummy little fried potato thingys); — the coldline for salads, dips(hummus & babaganoush) & fruit pops; — and a third station where drinks(fountain sodas, iced tea, selection of hot teas, and/or coffee– yay, they’re all included!), condiments, pickled items, and sweets Now, you know how a buffet works. Pick up the retro food hall plate, pile on, sit your butt down, and stuff your face. Repeat. Repeat. Repea… *** While the flavor quality of the buffet items varies from«eh, just okay,» to «yum!’, you can’t go wrong for the friendly service & value Casbah provides. It was neat to see the same chef from Droubi’s still serving you from behind the counter. He might stop by your table with a plate of hot, freshly shaved chicken shwarma & lamb/beef gyro slices, and some warm pita bread so you got your fixin’s for a solid little wrap. The rest of the staff were equally friendly and all smiles. We never felt rushed, or experience any hovering. There were no stink-eyes to be found; we felt totally comfortable of leisuring having a few cups of coffee, and ended up hanging out after the meal much longer than anticipated. And although there’s a good amount of dishes that I’m not particularly interested in(yes, that’s you green beans, take a hike!), it’s definitely still worth the price. When you can easily fork over more mula for a small plate of hummus, tabbouleh, and a drink at just about anywhere else, it’s just a no-brainer to come over here, skip the a la carte pricing, and get your heart’s content of those items that you’d enjoy. This would even be a pretty legit afternoon hangout spot(that is, if they got some wallpaper! No, I kid; I’d still come by without it). But I mean, why not? Come in between the meal times if you’re not super hungry. Do a café hour with a low-maintenance friend(Hook, that’s you), have a lil’ snack, a few sweet bites, and chat over a cup of coffee. Who can beat all that for 10 bucks? So now the important question is… UYE anyone?

Came here for a late Monday lunch(1:45ish) and it was pretty dead. Besides the 2 of us, there was another 3 other people. But that’s ok. I tried the lamb shank and thought it was a little too salty but the meat was fresh. Also tried a fish dish which I liked. The salad bar is very fresh and has variety. In all honesty, I’m not too familiar with Mediterranean food but I have been to Dimassi’s buffet and they are similar. I think we came late and that’s maybe why the food in the main entrée selection wasn’t as fresh as it could be. However, service is very good. They are friendly and ask how the food was and clear your plates away promptly. Overall great price for lunch, $ 9.99 and drink is included(soda, tea, coffee).
